Saturday’s game will be Joe’s third missed game to begin the season, as he is dealing with a left knee contusion. His absence increases the value of Aaron Wiggins, who started Thursday’s win over the Pacers and tallied 23 points and nine rebounds. If Cason Wallace (knee) can play, Wiggins will likely return to the bench. Rookie Brooks Barnhizer has played rotation minutes, but Wiggins is the streamer to target in this spot.

Wallace missed Thursday’s game against the Pacers and is now questionable for Saturday’s game against the Hawks. With Isaiah Joe (knee) also out Thursday, Ajay Mitchell played 38 minutes in the double overtime win. Mitchell could be in line for more work if Wallace is out again Saturday.

Caruso is still in the league’s concussion protocol, so he will miss a second straight game. Cason Wallace (knee), Aaron Wiggins and Ajay Mitchell should all take on extra minutes with Caruso sidelined once again. Wallace missed the Thunder’s last game, which allowed Wiggins to start in his place.

Holmgren has played 38 and 39 minutes in Oklahoma City’s first two games; he did not surpass 36 minutes in any of his 32 regular-season appearances last season. The questionable tag suggests there’s a chance he’ll be available to play, so there’s no need for fantasy managers to panic. If Holmgren sits, the Thunder will likely look to Jaylin Williams and Ousmane Dieng to absorb some of those minutes.

This was a strong way to start the year off for Murray, who had a Yahoo! ADP of 37.3. He only had five double-doubles all of last season. Murray has been a top-20 player in per-game, nine-cat value in each of the last two seasons, and this type of performance will help him replicate that production once again. Denver’s next game will come against the Suns on Saturday.

Of course, Jokic started off the year with a triple-double. This was the second straight season that he recorded a triple-double in the season opener. It was a subpar shooting performance for him, and his struggles from beyond the arc (2-of-12) were certainly a factor. Obviously, there is no reason to be concerned about Jokic after one game. He should bounce back against the Suns on Saturday.

Gordon had an unreal start to this game, making his first eight attempts from beyond the arc. He ended up setting a new career-high for both points and three-pointers, with the 10th triple giving Denver a lead late in the fourth before Stephen Curry forced overtime. Gordon only added five more points in the extra frame, with two of those coming after the game was all but over. It was a monster performance that was wasted in the loss, though that aspect won’t matter for fantasy managers. Gordon has certainly improved as a three-point shooter in recent years, but this was a performance that he certainly won’t replicate.

Johnson was acquired by the Nuggets this offseason in a deal that sent Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn. His first game wasn’t what they were hoping to get out of him. He struggled to hit shots and didn’t contribute much in the box score elsewhere. Don’t panic; Johnson will be just fine, and he fits in well on this team. He’ll have an opportunity to bounce back against the Suns on Saturday.

What a start to the season Mitchell has had. The 2024 second-round pick has been able to carve out a big role for the reigning champs and has delivered two straight big performances off the bench. Mitchell is currently rostered in 13 percent of Yahoo! leagues and seems worthy of a short-term stream. When Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace and Alex Caruso are back, there may not be enough minutes for Mitchell to maintain this level of production despite how well he has started the season.

SGA was good in the season opener, but the reigning MVP was even better in this game as the Thunder became the first team in NBA history to start their season with two straight double overtime games. That extra time allowed SGA to set a new career-high for scoring. He has 90 points through two games, which is a new franchise record. After winning MVP and a championship in the same season, it’s clear that SGA isn’t satisfied, which is a great sign for fantasy managers. He has one more game this week, which will be in Atlanta on Saturday.

With Cason Wallace (knee) sidelined, Wiggins slid into the starting lineup and ended up having a solid night. Rostered in 11 percent of Yahoo! leagues, if Wallace remains out for another game, Wiggins will be worthy of a stream. The Thunder’s next game is on Saturday in Atlanta. A five-game slate makes him an even more enticing streamer. He had 10 points in 21 minutes in the season-opening win over the Rockets.

With Cason Wallace (knee) sidelined, Aaron Wiggins will get the starting nod on the wing in his place. Wiggins had 10 points in 21 minutes off the bench on Wednesday but should see a significant bump in minutes against Indiana. Ajay Mitchell, who had 16 points off the bench against the Rockets, should also get some extra minutes.

Wallace was listed as questionable on Wednesday following a double overtime win against the Rockets, but it now appears he will not suit up at all. The Thunder are likely just being overly cautious in their second game of the season, but with Isaiah Joe (knee) out, Ajay Mitchell could be counted on for a bigger role on Thursday. However, Luguentz Dort (ankle) will suit up, so that’s positive news for the Thunder.

The Thunder will be without multiple wing contributors for Thursday’s NBA Finals rematch, including Joe, who will miss a second straight game. The impact of his absence depends on the availability of starters Luguentz Dort (ankle) and Cason Wallace (knee), who are both considered questionable. The Thunder should have enough production if those two can play.

The Thunder emerged from Tuesday’s double-overtime win over the Rockets with a lengthy injury report, including Wallace, Luguentz Dort (ankle) and Alex Caruso (concussion) in addition to other key injuries. While Caruso won’t play on Thursday, Wallace and Dort are questionable. More will be required of Aaron Wiggins and Ajay Mitchell, especially with Jalen Williams (wrist) and Isaiah Joe (knee) also out.

Dort injured his ankle during Tuesday’s double-overtime win over the Rockets, but still played 45 of 58 minutes. With Alex Caruso (concussion) and Isaiah Joe (knee) out, and Cason Wallace (knee) being questionable, the Thunder could be light on wing options for Thursday’s NBA Finals rematch. Aaron Wiggins is healthy, as are Ajay Mitchell and Brooks Barnhizer. Wiggins would be the best streaming option of the three.

According to the Thunder, Caruso suffered a concussion during Tuesday’s double-overtime win over the Rockets. Although Mitchell was limited to 36 games last season due to a foot injury, he showed flashes of being able to contribute consistently when he was healthy. The second-year guard had a good night off the bench in Tuesday’s season opener, scoring 16 of Oklahoma City’s 36 bench points. With Jalen Williams (wrist), Isaiah Joe (knee) and Nikola Topić (groin) currently sidelined, there is a slight opening for Mitchell within the Thunder rotation. However, it’s important to remember he only played 15 minutes Tuesday night despite those absences. He’s worth adding to watchlists, but that’s about it right now.

Wallace was the choice to start Tuesday’s opener with Jalen Williams (wrist) unavailable, and the third-year guard was effective on both ends of the floor. He finished a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line and hit a three with 1:32 remaining in double overtime to give Oklahoma City a one-point lead. Wallace finished last season as a top-100 fantasy player, so Tuesday’s production was unsurprising to those familiar with his game. Not only should he be rostered while J-Dub is out, but Wallace will be worth holding onto after the Thunder return to full strength.

With the Thunder struggling to defend Alperen Şengün during the first half of Tuesday’s season opener, head coach Mark Daigneault shifted to the approach that worked well in his team’s Game 7 win over the Nuggets in the second round of last year’s playoffs. He called on Caruso to start the third quarter, with Isaiah Hartenstein (6/9/5/1 in 37 minutes) being pushed to the bench. Şengün continued to put up numbers, but Caruso’s insertion into the lineup helped slow the Rockets. And given his recent injury history, Caruso’s playing 30 minutes on Tuesday may be the biggest takeaway for fantasy managers.

Like most of his teammates, Gilgeous-Alexander struggled from deep, making just one of his nine three-point attempts. However, the reigning NBA MVP came up big when it mattered most, scoring 12 of his 35 points in the two overtime periods. Gilgeous-Alexander wasn’t as accurate at the foul line as he usually is, but there’s little reason for fantasy managers to be concerned after one game. Thursday’s matchup with the Pacers will present a different challenge for SGA, who will have to deal with full-court pressure throughout after taking on a bigger Rockets lineup in Tuesday’s opener.

While some of his teammates started slowly, Holmgren was on fire to begin Tuesday’s season opener. He made his first seven shots of the night, keeping the Thunder within striking distance as others worked their way into the action. Holmgren did not record any defensive stats, but fantasy managers can assume this won’t be the norm after he averaged 0.7 steals and 2.2 blocks per game last season. He failed to record a “stock” in just six games last season, one being the November 10 loss to the Warriors, in which Holmgren fractured his hip five minutes in.

The reigning champion Thunder open their season without a key starter, Jalen Williams, who is out with a right wrist injury. His place in the starting lineup will be taken by Wallace, who started 43 of the 68 games he appeared in last season. Wallace was a top-100 fantasy player last season and can provide similar value in 2025-26, even after J-Dub returns.

With Jalen Williams (wrist) already out, the Thunder will also play Tuesday’s opener without a solid bench contributor in Joe. His absence does not significantly impact fantasy basketball, but it does mean more playing time for Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso and Aaron Wiggins. Wallace was the most consistent fantasy performer of the three last season, but all have value.

Williams, who underwent right wrist surgery a few weeks after the Thunder won the NBA title, did not play at all during the preseason. While the injury is not expected to keep him out too deep into the regular season, J-Dub reportedly won’t be available for Tuesday’s opener. Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins and Alex Caruso will all have opportunities to contribute, with Wallace being the safest option in standard fantasy leagues.

Braun has seen his minutes and production rise since being selected No. 21 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. He won a championship with the Nuggets as a rookie, and he’s steadily become an integral part of the team’s core rotation. Fantasy managers will hope he continues to ascend in Year 4. Watson had at least nine points for the fourth time in five games this preseason. The 23-year-old guard started Friday as the Nuggets rested their usual starting lineup. Watson still seems ticketed for a significant bench role this year based on his usage throughout the preseason. It’ll likely still take an injury to someone ahead of him on the depth chart for him to have much fantasy value this year.

Hardaway Jr. started and played 22 minutes, but when the Nuggets have all their starters playing he’s going to come off the bench. Still, the 33-year-old shooting guard showed he still has something left in the tank with the Pistons last year. Playing with Nikola Jokic always helps and there will be opportunities for Hardaway Jr. with the Nuggets this year. He can certainly provide some scoring and threes for fantasy managers in a pinch.

Dieng’s three-pointer with less than a second remaining sealed the win for the Thunder in this one. The 22-year-old forward led OKC in points and shot attempts in this one. That isn’t going to happen during the regular season, but Dieng has shown enough so far in the preseason to take notice. Maybe the Thunder give him more bench minutes this year after the production they’ve seen so far.

Holmgren played 19 minutes in what was his preseason debut on Friday. The 23-year-old center was dealing with shoulder soreness, but appears ready to go for the start of the regular season. Holmgren still has immense upside, but will also resume his role from last year which would be enough to pay off his late second round ADP this year.

While Oklahoma City’s starting lineup for Friday’s game likely aligns with the group that will be on the floor for its regular-season opener, that is not the case for the Nuggets. Johnson is the only player in Friday’s lineup who’s expected to be in the starting five when the regular season begins, with the other four being part of the bench rotation. He’s still getting acclimated to his new teammates, which may be why Johnson will play on Friday.

Holmgren’s appearance in Friday’s opening unit will mark his first minutes of the preseason. The versatile big man had been dealing with shoulder soreness throughout the training camp, but should be ready to go for the start of the regular season. He averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.2 blocks per game as a sophomore during the 2024-25 season en route to the Thunder’s first-ever NBA championship. Holmgren could take a leap in Year 3, but will presumably play a similar role to last season’s.

Whitehead, the 22nd overall pick in the 2023 draft, struggled to stay healthy during his two seasons with the Nets before being waived on October 13. The move to Oklahoma City gives him a fresh start, and he’ll likely spend most of his time in the G League. The Thunder have 15 players on standard contracts for the upcoming season, meaning Whitehead is most likely on an Exhibit 10 deal. If so, he would be in line for an $85,300 bonus if he spends 60 days with Oklahoma City’s G League affiliate. Managers competing in dynasty leagues can consider stashing Whitehead, but should not feel obligated to do so.

Murray was certainly in mid-season form in this win. After scoring a total of 36 points through their first three preseason games, he nearly matched that total against Chicago. Wallace averaged just 8.4 points in 27 minutes per game last year. Against the Bucks on Tuesday, he had nine points in 27 minutes. The eight assists were intriguing, though. Wallace averaged just 2.5 assists per game last year in the regular season, though he 3.6 assists per game in 25 minutes per game over five games in the Western Conference finals last year. Maybe Wallace could have more of a playmaking role this year, which would certainly be a boost to his otherwise middling fantasy value. The 21-year-old shooting guard could also see a boost in minutes if Jalen Williams (wrist) is out to begin the season.

Hartenstein had more of a scoring role in this one as the Thunder were without Chet Holmgren. The 27-year-old center led the team in shot attempts with 10 and had 13 points in 22 minutes. He didn’t attempt a free throw. Hartenstein didn’t have his usual playmaking role against the Bucks as he had just one assist despite averaging a career-high 3.8 assists with the Thunder last year. He’s going in the middle rounds of 2025 fantasy basketball drafts.

Gilgeous-Alexander was highly efficient against the Bucks as he dropped 23 points on 10 attempts. His only misses from the field were two three-point attempts and he got to the foul line eight times while making six free throws. The reigning MVP looked primed for another sensational season. He’s coming off the board third overall in most fantasy drafts behind only Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama.

Throughout the offseason, there were reports of a potential partnership between the Kings and Westbrook, who has been a free agent since opting out of the final year of his deal with the Nuggets. It was also reported that, with the signing of Dennis Schröder, the Kings would need to move a guard to make room for Westbrook. Malik Monk and Devin Carter, whose names were mentioned in trade rumors to make that happen, remain on the Kings’ roster. Would that remain the case if the team were to sign Westbrook now? Or will the most recent rumblings be a way to drum up interest in either of those players? Westbrook hasn’t been a consistently impactful fantasy option in recent years, so he is not a player managers should look to draft and stash in anticipation of a potential move to Sacramento.

Williams, who agreed to a five-year rookie max extension in July, underwent surgery on his right wrist a few weeks after the Thunder won the NBA title. The good news is that he’s back on the court doing individual work. The bad news is that Williams is not shooting with his right hand, with the regular season beginning on October 21. And the Thunder have been tight-lipped on whether he’ll be ready for opening night, with head coach Mark Daigneault simply saying that Williams is “progressing on a normal timeline.” Fantasy managers willing to draft Williams should consider using a late-round pick on a player like Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins or Isaiah Joe as an insurance policy if they have to start the season with J-Dub in an IL+ slot.
