After a few rough outings, Bane came up big to help the Magic advance to the NBA Cup semifinals in Las Vegas. Bane joked after the game that he just lost $35,000 (courtesy of him throwing a ball at OG Anunoby), and that he’s “gotta go get it back somehow.” Orlando just lost Franz Wagner (ankle) to what is expected to be a multi-week absence. Bane figured things out after a slow start to the season when Paolo Banchero missed time, and now Bane will get the opportunity to gel with Banchero with Wagner sidelined. While Bane has shown on multiple occasions that he can still be as productive as he was in Memphis, it hasn’t happened consistently when this team is healthy. For now, he’ll look to help the Magic win the NBA Cup by taking on more responsibility on offense, which is a great thing for fantasy managers.

The start of the season was rough for Suggs, largely because of a minutes restriction. Since then, he has dealt with injuries that have limited him, but this current stretch has been excellent. He has scored at least 20 points in three of his last four games, and with Franz Wagner (ankle) set to miss time, he’ll continue to be prioritized on offense.

For just the fourth time this season, Carter was able to record a double-double, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. He helped Orlando outrebound Miami 47-39, which allowed them to secure the win and advance to the semifinals of the NBA Cup. Carter has improved his points, rebounds, three-pointers and field goal percentage from last season, and while he isn’t a great fantasy option, he is a reliable starter.

With Franz Wagner sidelined with a high ankle sprain, Black made a return to the starting lineup. He didn’t have an efficient night on offense, but there were some nice moments for him, and he was able to stuff the stat sheet. Wagner’s injury will likely keep him sidelined for multiple weeks, which makes this a great opportunity for Black. Currently rostered in 31 percent of Yahoo! leagues, the 2023 lottery pick should be considered a priority streaming option.

Two of the three 2025 lottery picks playing in Monday’s contest came up big for their respective teams. While New Orleans’ Derik Queen recorded the more impressive stat line, Harper got the last laugh, as his shot with 9.1 seconds remaining gave San Antonio the lead for good. With Stephon Castle (hip) back in the lineup, the rookie guard still played 26 minutes, which bodes well for his opportunities moving forward. Harper remains a deep-league option at best, but he has the tools required to change that in time.

Unsurprisingly, the Spurs had Castle on a minutes restriction in his return from a hip injury that sidelined him for nine games. However, the reigning Rookie of the Year was productive in his 23 minutes on the floor. Castle’s restriction ensured Julian Champagnie of solid minutes, as he logged 29 and finished with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and five three-pointers. We’ll see if the minutes split is similar on Wednesday when the Spurs face the Lakers, but deep-league managers who were streaming Champagnie should consider holding onto him.

Playing in his second game back from a lengthy layoff, Banchero saw his playing time rise from 20 to 24 minutes. He was an inefficient 4-of-11 from the field, and he’s 7-of-19 for 25 total points across his last two outings. Banchero still looks like he’s ramping up and shaking off the rust, so fantasy managers should be patient with him.

He also committed four turnovers, but fantasy managers playing in eight-cat leagues or those not worried about field-goal percentage were surely pleased with this performance. With Franz Wagner (leg) potentially set to miss time this week, Black could see an uptick in minutes. Jalen Suggs (leg) went to the locker room in the fourth quarter, and though he was able to return, he may be banged up, which could result in even more playing time for Black. Vassell hasn’t been able to pour in the points consistently this year, but he’s still more than capable. He’s taken on more offensive responsibility lately, and he has scored at least 20 points in four of his last six games. His seven triples in this game matched his season high. Vassell’s production is down this year, but he has stepped up with Stephon Castle (hip) and Victor Wembanyama (calf) sidelined. As long as they’re out, he should continue to receive a boost in production.

Suggs was instrumental in that effort as he had 22 points and otherwise filled the stat sheet. The 24-year-old point guard’s excellent play over the last two weeks continues.

The 24-year-old small forward got back on track against the Heat, knocking down four threes and leading the Magic to victory. Wagner had his first game with at least 30 points since his 37-point performance against the Knicks on November 22. The Magic still have one more game in Week 7, against the Knicks on Sunday.

Since moving into the Spurs’ starting lineup on November 16 to fill the void left by Victor Wembanyama, Kornet has provided ninth-round value in eight-cat formats. The issue has been the lack of scoring, with the 7-foot-1 center averaging 6.6 points per game. However, Kornet has been a good player to roster for those needing rebounds and blocks. He was productive in those categories in Orlando, with his third block coming as time expired to preserve the victory. Kornet remains a specialist, but the opportunity to start makes him a player worth holding onto in deep leagues.

Since returning to action on November 26, Harper has reached double figures in four of five games, including each of the last four. With Stephon Castle (hip) out, the Spurs’ perimeter rotation is less crowded, which has benefitted the rookie. Harper has been most beneficial in the points, assists and steals categories, so he’s been relegated to deep-league status in redraft formats. But there is a lot to like about his skill set, and Harper has not reached his ceiling.

De’Aaron Fox has been the biggest beneficiary of the absences of Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, but Vassell isn’t far behind. There aren’t as many minutes for Harper as there are for other lottery picks, but he was able to make the most of his time in this game. Since returning from a 10-game absence, Harper has averaged 12.5 points, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals in just 18 minutes per game. He’ll continue to have his minutes managed for now, and when he returns to a full workload, he’ll still have De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle ahead of him in the rotation. Harper is valuable asset in dynasty leagues, but his role may not be large enough for him to truly pop this season.

Fox checked back into the game with 4:07 left in the fourth, with the Spurs down 113-110. From that point on, he had 11 points and an assist to deliver a win for San Antonio. Fox has been able to help the Spurs stay afloat with Victor Wembanyama (calf) sidelined, and he has been able to provide third-round value to this point. He is having his best season from the free throw line and the second-best field goal percentage of his career. Fox will continue to shine as the focal point of this team until Wemby returns, and he’ll have no issues still being a star after that.

It doesn’t happen often, but Barnes is certainly still capable of big offensive nights like this one. He led all scorers in this game while also setting a new season-high for points. Barnes has a better nine-cat value than he typically does, mostly because he is posting career highs in both steals and three-pointers per game. He’s currently available in 83 percent of Yahoo! leagues, but he should be worth rostering in standard leagues as long as Victor Wembanyama remains out.

Rostered in 33 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Carter has provided top-100 value in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. Of course, it would be good to get more consistent defensive production out of the Magic center, but the top-100 may be his ceiling at this stage in his career. That isn’t elite, but it isn’t a bad spot to be in, either. The 17 points he scored on Monday were the most in a game for Carter since November 18, when he hit that number in a win over the Warriors.
