Embiid is on the 76ers’ initial injury report for Game 7, but it would be stunning if the 7-footer were not on the court Saturday night. He finished Game 6 two assists shy of a triple-double as Philadelphia extended the series. Look for Embiid to take on his usual heavy workload as the 76ers look to beat the Celtics in a playoff series for the first time since 1982.

Mazzulla was quoted as saying, “He’ll play,” so Celtics fans should expect the superstar to be on the court for the winner-take-all matchup at TD Garden. In seven career Game 7’s, Tatum has averaged 26.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists across 41.5 minutes.

Similar to several other Celtics players, Prtichard struggled with his shot in Game 6. He was particularly cold from beyond the arc, which is where half of his field-goal attempts came from. Poor three-point shooting aside, he actually performed offensively, with his five assists being the most for Boston on the night. He’ll likely come off the bench on Saturday and look to provide a spark in Game 7.

Brown never really got going offensively in Game 6. His inconsistent shooting was followed by inefficient free-throw shooting in his trips to the stripe. Additionally, his five turnovers to just two assists help paint a picture of the challenges Philadelphia’s defense presented on Thursday. He’ll have a chance to bounce back on Saturday when the Celtics host the 76ers in a win-or-go-home Game 7.

Tatum put up a double-double in the loss, but didn’t log an overly impressive stat line. He took just 13 shots in his 29 minutes of game action, and although he shot fairly well, the limited volume led to his lowest-scoring total of the series. He’s remained strong on the glass throughout the series, but his team would likely benefit from additional contributions in other areas on Saturday when the Celtics host the Sixers in Game 7.

In his third game back on the floor, Embiid put forth another solid performance. He didn’t shoot the ball efficiently but still nearly found his way to the 20-point mark. The former league MVP made up for his inefficient scoring with good work on the glass and tremendous work as a facilitator. His balanced performance nearly led to a triple-double, which helped the Sixers force a Game 7.

Maxey’s scoring was a significant factor in the 76ers’ Game 6 win. He shot well overall, especially outside the arc, and also finished as one of Philadelphia’s leaders in assists on the evening. He had offensive help from several of his teammates, as well, which could be a key for the 76ers in a win-or-go-home situation on Saturday. They’ll likely rely heavily on Maxey, once again.

George reached the 20-point mark for the first time in the opening-round series on Thursday, which played a big role in Philadelphia forcing a Game 7. His biggest contributions came from beyond the arc, where he accounted for nearly half of the 76ers’ three-point total. The veteran forward also had some fine moments on defense during his 40 minutes. He’ll have a chance to log another strong outing on Saturday in the series-deciding game.

On the heels of a 39-minute outing, in which he scored 33 points in Philadelphia’s win, the former league MVP will take the floor on Thursday with a chance for another strong performance. Embiid has battled injuries throughout the season, but his late arrival to this opening-round series has been difference-making. He’ll likely carry a heavy workload, as the Sixers try to avoid elimination.

After playing 34 minutes in his return to the 76ers’ lineup for Game 4, Embiid logged 39 minutes in Tuesday’s Game 5 victory. He’ll likely take on a similar workload for Game 6 as the 76ers look to force a Game 7 on Saturday in Boston.

Queta has had an awesome season, but he hasn’t done much in this series. However, he reached double-digit rebounds for the first time in the series, though it wasn’t enough for the Celtics to close it out. Queta will continue to start and play a significant role, but his impact will likely continue to be limited.

Brown continues to pour in the points, but the efficiency simply wasn’t there in this game. This was the first time this series he shot below 40 percent from the floor. Brown has had a fantastic season, and he should be able to bounce back in Game 6 on Thursday, which will be their next opportunity to advance to the second round.

Though it was a subpar shooting night for him, Tatum was still able to make a big impact in this game. He had a point-assist double-double in Game 4, but he got his double-double on the glass in this one. Tatum has shot at least 50 percent in the Celtics’ three wins during this series and below 50 percent in the two losses. If they want to close this series out in Game 6 on Thursday, Tatum will have to shoot the ball better than he did in this game.

George hasn’t had a big scoring night in this series, but he has been a consistent contributor on offense. That continued in this game, as he provided a well-rounded line in the win. George has been productive since returning from a 25-game suspension, and he has been able to impact the game on both ends of the floor, despite being past the point of his career where he needs to lead the team in scoring. The 76ers will need him to continue to play like this in Game 6 on Thursday.

Grimes didn’t do much during the first three games of this series, but after contributing 12 points and six assists in Game 4, he was able to make an even larger impact in this one. That contributed heavily to the 76ers securing the upset win in Boston to extend the series. Grimes was able to make an impact on both ends of the floor, and if he’s able to continue to contribute in Game 6, there is a strong chance this series will shift back to Boston for a Game 7.

Maxey took a backseat to Joel Embiid once again, but he still got enough touches and shots to stuff the stat sheet in the Game 5 win. He has scored at least 20 points in every game this series, which is a trend that will need to continue for the 76eres to have a chance to win. Game 6 will be in Philadelphia on Thursday, where Maxey will look to keep up the scoring. This was also his best rebounding performance of the season, which is a trend that will hopefully continue.

Embiid returned to the lineup in Game 4, and while the box score stats were strong, he wasn’t efficient as a scorer. He was much better in that regard in this game, which led to the 76ers getting their second win of the series in Boston. Embiid missed the first three games, but if he’s rolling like this with the series shifting back to Philadelphia, they could have enough momentum to come back from down 3-1, though they’ll need to win in Boston a third time. Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday

Embiid played 34 minutes in Game 4 on Sunday, and he should play a similar role in what is a win-or-go-home game for the 76ers. He contributed 26 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in Game 4’s blowout loss. Embiid will need to be far more efficient for the 76ers to keep their season alive.

Through four games, George still has not recorded a 20-point game in this series. While the 76ers had Joel Embiid back in the lineup for Game 4, they need more scoring from George to have a chance of extending the series to Game 6 on Thursday. George recorded a complete stat line in Game 4, but the career résumé strongly suggests that he is capable of doing more. Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday in Boston.

Maxey shot the ball well in Game 4 and committed just one turnover, but the 76ers did not have enough firepower to run with the Celtics. Backcourt sidekick VJ Edgecombe (6/4/1/1) and wing Kelly Oubre Jr. (two points, four rebounds, one assist and one block) shot a combined 2-of-15 from the field, and the 76ers could not overcome those struggles, even with Joel Embiid back in the lineup. Maxey and the 76ers now head to Boston for Game 5 on Tuesday, needing a win to stave off elimination.

Just 17 days removed from undergoing an emergency appendectomy, Embiid was back in the 76ers’ starting lineup on Sunday. While his return did not result in a 76ers victory, as the Celtics had too much firepower, the 7-footer deserves credit for gutting out 34 minutes. And Embiid was effective overall, recording a double-double with six assists. With Philadelphia’s season on the line, Embiid will likely take on a similar workload in Game 5 on Tuesday.

Brown’s 20 points in Game 4 were the fewest he’s scored in a game this series, having produced 25 or more in each of the first three. He and Jayson Tatum were at their best in the third quarter of Game 4, combining to score 25 of the Celtics’ 39 points. Their production helped Boston withstand a 36-point third quarter for the 76ers, who could not offer up a counterpunch in the fourth. Brown and the Celtics will look to close out the series on Tuesday night.

Tatum has recorded a double-double in three of the four games in this series, and he notched his first 30-point game in Game 4. The Celtics’ star finished three rebounds shy of a triple-double, with the lone complaint being his five turnovers. Overall, Tatum has gotten sharper by the game, which makes the Celtics a serious threat to win an NBA title. The first order of business for Boston is to close out the 76ers, with Game 5 scheduled for Tuesday at TD Garden.

On a day when starter Derrick White (6/6/3/1/2 with two three-pointers) attempted just five shots, Pritchard stepped up with one of the best outings of his postseason career. The 32 points, a playoff career-high for Pritchard, were two shy of the Celtics franchise record for most in a playoff game by a reserve, which Kevin McHale still holds. While he made too many starts to qualify for NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors, Pritchard remains one of the best reserve scorers in the league. And he reminded Philadelphia of that in Game 4. The Celtics will look to close out the series on Tuesday night.

Maxey had 31 points, but he wasn’t efficient with 31 attempts from the field. The 25-year-old point guard only took two free throws all game. Brown carried the Celtics scoring load in Game 2 as Jayson Tatum was the only other player in double figures with 19 points. Halfway through the fourth quarter, the Celtics cut the 76ers’ lead to two points. The 25-year-old point guard proceeded to hit back-to-back three-pointers to essentially put the game on ice for Philadelphia. Edgecombe’s official playoff debut did not go as smoothly as the rookie would have hoped. While good inside the three-point line, he missed all five of his three-point attempts on the day. While George finished Sunday’s defeat with solid percentages, the 76ers will have little chance of competing if he’s only attempting eight shots from the field. By comparison, Kelly Oubre Jr. (10/7/2) shot 5-of-14 from the field, including 0-of-5 from beyond the arc. With Joel Embiid (appendicitis) out indefinitely, George will have to be much closer to Tyrese Maxey’s “1B” than he was on Sunday for the 76ers to have any chance of being competitive in this series.

Maxey led the way offensively for the 76ers in Sunday’s series opener, but the Celtics made him work for everything. The 76ers’ point guard shot 40 percent from the field, including a 1-of-4 day from beyond the arc. During the regular season, Maxey averaged 8.6 three-point attempts per game. With six players in double figures and stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum combining to score 51 points, the Celtics did not need much scoring from White. Shooting 2-of-7 from three, the veteran guard dished out six assists and committed just one turnover. The lone negative for Tatum in Game 1 was his three-point shooting, as he made just one of seven attempts. However, he shot 80 percent from inside the arc, thanks to a combination of efficient mid-range shooting and the ability to get to the basket at will. Due to the nature of Game 1, which the Celtics won 123-91, and early foul trouble, Brown played only 30 minutes. But he was effective while on the floor, finishing with a game-high point total and a final stat line that only lacked a blocked shot. While there’s a lot more basketball to be played in this series, the 76ers could not come up with an answer for Brown or Jayson Tatum in Game 1. If that trend continues, the Celtics may not need to dig too deep to advance to the second round.
