Embiid remains restricted to 20-25 minutes per game, and the 76ers also give him the occasional night off to help manage the 7-footer’s workload. He’ll sit out Sunday’s game against the Nets, opening up a space in the starting lineup for Andre Drummond or Adem Bona. While Bona has a slightly higher ceiling, he struggles to avoid foul trouble.

Ball is dealing with a right ankle impingement, but trending in the right direction as of Saturday afternoon. With the 24-year-old being upgraded to a probable injury designation, it’s likely he ends up playing against the Timberwolves. Ball had been off to a good start on the court this year, but the point guard is once again dealing with injuries as he has throughout his young career.

Maxey had scored at least 39 points in three of the first four games of the season, but attacked the Celtics in a different way on Friday. The 24-year-old point guard took fewer shots than usual, but had 14 assists. He’s had at least nine assists in three of the last four games. Maxey looks like he’s the 76ers’ primary offensive force on any given night.

Embiid scored at least 20 points for the third consecutive game. The 31-year-old center is only playing about 20-25 minutes per game in an effort to keep him fresh later in the season. Embiid can’t give fantasy managers those ceiling games they’re used to without playing more minutes, but he’s certainly been effective when he’s been on the floor so far this year.

Ball has been diagnosed with a right ankle impingement, which is concerning, given his history of ankle injuries. Most recently, he underwent surgery on the same ankle in early April. Sexton came off the bench Thursday night, with rookie Sion James receiving a promotion. The lineup change did not negatively impact Sexton’s output, as he shot the ball well from the field and recorded a solid stat line. Rostered in 35 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he’ll have value for as long as the Hornets are without Brandon Miller (shoulder). As for James, he finished his first start with eight points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one three-pointer in 28 minutes. He isn’t a must-add player, but the Hornets end Week 2 with a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back.

A late-round pick for many fantasy managers, Kalkbrenner has exceeded expectations thus far by clearly understanding where he’s most valuable. The rookie center shot 8-of-9 from the field on Thursday and is now 27-of-30 for the season. Add in the rebounds and defensive stats, and it isn’t hard to figure out why Kalkbrenner has been close to a top-50 player. As a rookie, he’ll be difficult to “sell high” because of the limited sample size. But that’s alright, as it may be better to hold onto Kalkbrenner for the long haul.

This was a disappointing performance from Bridges outside of the rebounds and three-pointers. He did not record any assists, steals or blocked shots, much to the chagrin of fantasy managers who have him rostered. More concerning is the continued poor shooting, with Bridges making just 39.5 percent of his attempts through five games. He remains a top-100 player, but Bridges would be far more valuable with a better field-goal percentage.

Ball provided solid production in the rebound, assist and steal categories while limiting the turnovers, but he struggled with his shot. The Hornets guard shot 1-of-9 from beyond the arc, but he did enter Thursday shooting a career-best 39.5 percent through four games. Ball is providing top-10 value in turnover-punt models, and he’s not too far outside of that threshold in nine-cat formats, either. The Hornets end Week 2 with a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back against the Timberwolves and Jazz.

The Hornets will start three rookies for the first time in franchise history. While James isn’t the scorer that Collin Sexton is, the rookie is a superior defender. McCain has been sidelined since having surgery in September to fix a torn UCL in his right thumb. He was able to participate in a team shootaround earlier this week and has now progressed to practicing. Offense has not been an issue for Knueppel thus far, with the rookie averaging 16.0 points per game. However, he isn’t a defender who’s going to provide consistent numbers on that end of the floor (two steals and no blocks in four games), and he’s shooting just 50 percent from the foul line. While the foul shooting is unlikely to be a long-term issue for Knueppel, the lack of defensive stats may limit his fantasy ceiling in the short term.

Kalkbrenner has gotten off to a solid start in his rookie season, especially for those who drafted him for defensive reasons. The rookie has accrued four steals and four blocked shots while shooting a staggering 90.5 percent from the field through four games. While Kalkbrenner, who made all five of his shots on Tuesday, is unlikely to maintain that percentage over the long haul, expecting consistent defensive production is realistic. The playing time was just as encouraging on Tuesday, with Kalkbrenner logging a season-high 31 minutes. He’s only rostered in 21 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and the Hornets play three games in the final four days of Week 2.

Sexton has scored at least 18 points in three straight games, fitting in nicely alongside LaMelo Ball, even if the Hornets’ defense has suffered. He shot the ball well against the Heat, but Sexton committed four turnovers and did not provide any defensive statistics. Even before Brandon Miller’s shoulder injury, he was a starter, but the third-year wing’s absence frees up additional scoring opportunities for Sexton. And with the Hornets playing three games in the final four days of Week 2, adding Sexton (32 percent rostered, Yahoo!) would be a good idea if he’s on the waiver wire.

While all five Hornets starters scored in double figures, the team’s porous defense was too much to overcome. In the case of Ball, his efficiency was lacking in Miami. In addition to the poor shooting, he was responsible for five of Charlotte’s 17 turnovers. However, despite averaging four turnovers per game, LaMelo is providing top-20 value in nine-cat formats, and top-10 in eight-cat. He’s off to a good start, with the lone concern being his injury history.

The eventual return of Paul George (knee) may impact Oubre’s usage, but he’ll remain a fixture in the starting lineup. He’s only rostered in 22 percent of Yahoo! leagues. Back in the lineup after sitting out Monday’s win over the Magic, Embiid was supposed to be on a limit of 20 minutes. He played 23 against the Wizards, and the production was solid in a case of good news for fantasy managers. Embiid grabbed his 5,000th career rebound during the overtime victory and was a steal shy of a complete stat line while shooting over 50 percent from the field. While playing time may concern Embiid managers, Philadelphia’s goal is to do what it can to ensure he’s healthy for the stretch run.

Maxey has now scored at least 39 points in three of his first four games, and the 76ers are off to a 4-0 start. Asked to take on a larger leadership role, he has answered the call. Maxey attempted a season-high 16 free throws while shooting 44 percent from the field, and this was his first double-double of the season. Maxey’s early-season hot streak continued in this one as he put the metaphorical exclamation point on Philadelphia’s impressive win by scoring on three consecutive possessions in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter to eclipse the 40-point plateau for the second time in three games to open the season. He poured in 22 first-half points, knocking down eight of his first 18 shots from the field and was even better down the home stretch to help Philadelphia hold off a late comeback effort by the Magic. Edgecombe continues to be extremely impressive from a shot creation standpoint as he’s taken full advantage of his opportunities to make something happen with the ball in his hands. He took just four three-pointers in this one but still came close to reaching the 30-point threshold for the second time in his first three games of his career. He was extremely efficient overall, shooting just under 59 percent from the field. One of the priority waiver wire adds during the opening week of the fantasy basketball season, Grimes saw expanded minutes with Joel Embiid (knee) and Paul George (knee) out. He poured in 11 first-half points, thanks in large part to a trio of three-pointers. He was fouled on a three-point attempt with just under five minutes left in the contest and sank all three free throws after the Magic cut the lead down to just two points with a late rally.
