Spencer stepped up to shoulder the scoring workload in his first career start for a bizarre Golden State lineup that was missing Stephen Curry (quad), Draymond Green (foot), Jimmy Butler (knee) and Al Hortford (sciatica) out of action. The 29-year-old guard dished out seven helpers and knocked down a couple pivotal shots in the fourth quarter to help the Warriors stave off a late rally from the Cavaliers. He’ll continue to get opportunities with Curry expected to miss at least another week while recovering from a quad bruise.

Post drew the starting assignment for a makeshift lineup with most of Golden State’s core sitting this one out. The 25-year-old sharpshooting big man knocked down a pair of three-pointers and pulled down a team-high nine boards. He’s capable of making an impact for fantasy purposes when given an opportunity but those spots are tough to come by unless injuries strike.

George is back on the injury report as the 76ers look to manage his return from offseason knee surgery. If he’s unable to play on Sunday, Justin Edwards’ playing time would increase after logging just one minute in Friday’s win over the Bucks. However, Edwards would be worth the risk in fantasy leagues.

The Warriors have been decimated by injuries, resulting in multiple changes to the starting lineup. Spencer, Kuminga and Post will be in the starting lineup, with Brandin Podziemski moving to the bench while Draymond Green and Al Horford are out. Green aggravated a right midfoot sprain during Thursday’s loss to the 76ers, with the Warriors ruling him out at halftime. Initially questionable for Saturday’s game, Butler is officially out. Maxey had one of his least productive offensive performances of the season on Friday. He scored fewer the 20 points for the first time, due to inefficient shooting and relatively low volume, but also wasn’t as productive as a passer against the Bucks. The versatile combo guard made up for his lack of offensive output on the defensive end, however. Philadelphia ultimately didn’t need Maxey to be in top form, as the team cruised to a 15-point road win on the second night of a back-to-back. Maxey, one of the NBA’s top scorers, likely won’t have another performance like Friday’s for a little while. He should resume his offensive domination on Sunday against the Lakers.

Grimes had the hot hand on Friday and used it to finish as the Sixers’ leading scorer for the game. He was especially dialed in from deep, accounting for more than a third of Philadelphia’s 17 made three-pointers on the evening, while also making contributions on the glass and finishing as one of the Sixers’ most productive passers. Arguably, his only blemish was the five turnovers he committed, which were nearly half of Philly’s total. Still, Grimes was productive off the bench and continues to find ways to contribute.

George notched one of his better performances of the season on Friday. In his seventh appearance, the veteran wing reached the 20-point mark for the second time, while also tying a season-high in assists. Most importantly, George logged 30 minutes for the first time all season, which could serve as an encouraging sign in terms of where he’s currently at from a health standpoint. His final line against the Bucks isn’t elite by any means, but it should allow fantasy managers to at least be optimistic about George’s potential this season.

More than a year after he suffered a torn ACL, Melton was back on the court Thursday night. And he didn’t need much time to remind people why he can be a valuable option in fantasy basketball. Despite being limited to 21 minutes, Melton recorded a complete stat line with solid percentages against the 76ers. With Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler out, and Draymond Green attempting to play through a foot injury, the Warriors can use the help that Melton can provide on both ends of the floor. Managers in deep leagues may be wary of adding him after one game due to the Warriors’ upcoming back-to-back, but Melton may be worth the risk.

After matching his career-high in Tuesday’s loss to the Thunder, Spencer had another good night on Thursday. The two-way contract guard hit some big shots in the fourth quarter, including a three with 1:12 remaining that gave Golden State a 98-94 lead. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they would not score again, with Philadelphia ending the game on a 5-0 run. Spencer has some viability as a deep-league streamer for the final two games of Golden State’s road trip, due mainly to the absences of Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler.

Thursday’s game was the first for Horford since November 21, so, understandably, he was a bit rusty. The veteran center, who received the starting nod, shot 1-of-7 from beyond the arc in Philadelphia, missing seven straight after making his first attempt. With Draymond Green (foot) exiting at halftime and Jimmy Butler (knee) already out, the Warriors can use a healthy Horford. Unfortunately, they’ll end Week 7 with a back-to-back, so he’ll sit on either Saturday or Sunday.

With Joel Embiid under a minutes restriction and Paul George unavailable, Maxey was once again left to shoulder the offensive workload on Thursday. He had an excellent night, marking the ninth game this season in which he’s scored at least 35 points. And Maxey’s lone blocked shot was huge, as his rejection of a De’Anthony Melton shot attempt as time expired preserved the one-point victory. While many expected Maxey to provide excellent fantasy value this season, he has exceeded his Yahoo! ADP, providing top-5 value in eight-cat formats.

Edgecombe wasn’t the most impactful scorer on Thursday, but he did make the game’s biggest shot. His putback of a Tyrese Maxey fadeaway with nine-tenths of a second remaining gave Philadelphia the 99-98 victory, with the 76ers avoiding losing a game they led by at least 20 points after one quarter for the first time in franchise history. Despite averaging just 8.7 points per game, Edgecombe has been close to a top-50 player in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. His production in the rebound, assist and steal categories has been a factor, as it was against the Warriors.

Thursday’s game was Embiid’s first since November 30, so the minutes restriction was unsurprising. Unfortunately for those who have him rostered, the 7-footer missed all six of his three-point attempts.
