Smith entered the league as a high-caliber defensive prospect, but that hasn’t led to many defensive stats during his career. Those numbers are slightly up this year, but he still hasn’t been effective. However, in this game, he was able to make a massive impact on that end. He set a new career high for blocks and matched his season high for steals. That hasn’t been the norm for him, and managers shouldn’t expect that to continue moving forward. Still, it was an excellent night for him.

In his return to Atlanta, Capela was able to have a solid night in 18 minutes off the bench. He hasn’t been great in his first season back in Houston, but with Steven Adams (ankle) set to miss the rest of the season, Capela will be the primary center option off the bench moving forward. That isn’t going to result in much value in standard leagues, but if Alperen Şengün ends up missing any time, Capela could hold value as a streamer.

Durant gas been on fire recently, and he was able to have another strong scoring performance in this game. This was his fourth 30-point game in his last five appearances, and he shot better than 50 percent in three of those. Durant remains one of the best players in fantasy basketball and has provided top-15 value in nine-category leagues over the past two months. He should remain hot against the Mavericks on Saturday to wrap up this week.

It was a subpar two-game stretch for Maxey entering this game, but he got back on track in a big way. Not only did he have his first 40-point game since November, but he also hit a game-winning layup with less than two seconds left. Maxey has had a fantastic season and continues to be one of the most effective players in fantasy basketball. He’ll look to stay hot against the Pelicans on Saturday to wrap up the week.

Embiid stayed hot in this game and has now scored at least 30 points in five of his last six games. Over the past wo weeks, Embiid has provided top-five value in nine-category leagues, which is incredible value for a player drafted in the fifth round. Of course, the caveat of “he has to stay healthy” will remain until April, but he’s playing at an incredibly high level. As long as he’s on the floor, he’ll continue to be one of the best players in fantasy basketball.

The lone change to the Rockets’ starting lineup for Thursday night is Okogie, who replaces Tari Eason for the second night of Houston’s back-to-back. The Rockets will already be without Steven Adams, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Tari Eason, so losing Sengun would make them desperately short on big men. Finney-Smith played 19 scoreless minutes in yesterday’s game against the Spurs, but it was always the plan for him to then sit on Thursday with the Rockets being cautious about his ankle injury. Sengun struggled on the offensive end against the Spurs. He shot inefficiently from the floor, making less than half of his 20 attempts. And he also couldn’t capitalize at the free-throw line in this game. He still nearly totaled 20 points and, with double-digit rebounds and a team-high in assists, nearly logged a triple-double. Even Sengun’s underwhelming performances amount to good fantasy production. He has a high floor, which is comforting for fantasy managers.

Thompson was electric on Wednesday, despite his production and several entertaining highlights coming in a loss. He finished at the rim fantastically with powerful dunks, and didn’t turn down his aggressiveness throughout the game — he finished as Houston’s leader in points, shot attempts, and steals. Wednesday’s balanced performance served as a nice bounce-back for him after shooting 3-of-10 from the floor for eight points in the prior game. He’ll take the floor again on Thursday against the Hawks.

The Rockets’ two-game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday, but that didn’t prevent Durant from doing what he does best. The veteran wing was the Rockets’ second-leading scorer on the evening, as he utilized the three-point line and the charity stripe, while also functioning inside the arc. He was also able to make plays for others when he wasn’t focused on only making shots. And although it wasn’t his best performance, even Durant’s relatively mediocre games are productive and useful when it comes to fantasy basketball.

McCain was sent to the G League recently, and it seems to have helped him out. Over the last 24 hours, McCain has scored 33 points and hit nine three-pointers. This is a strong stretch of production, and if he is able to continue to play a larger role off the bench, he’ll be able to provide value for fantasy managers. Considering George scored nine total points in his last game, a new season high of nine triples was the last thing anyone was expecting. It was George’s second 30-point game of the season, and it was enough to snap the 76ers’ two-game losing streak. Even though George has struggled this year, his game is so fantasy-friendly that he has been a top-50 player in nine-category leagues this season. For the first time this season, Durant has recorded three consecutive 30-point games. And he kept the turnovers in check, as that category has been a minor issue for nine-cat managers recently. Simply put, the Grizzlies had no answer for Şengün, regardless of who they gave the task of defending him. The Rockets center made his first seven shot attempts and shot 15-of-17 from the field on the night. Monday’s fourth-quarter minutes in a 130-93 defeat may have given McCain the boost that a recent stint in the G League failed to. As has been the case on a few occasions this season, Edgecombe got going in the fourth quarter after being quiet for the first three. After totaling 36 points on 12-of-30 shooting in his previous two games, Durant equalled the points tally on Thursday.
