Sunday’s game was Embiid’s first this season on one day’s rest. However, he still played 30 minutes against the Hawks and recorded a complete stat line. While Philadelphia’s two-game Week 9 isn’t good for fantasy managers, it is for Embiid. The 76ers don’t play again until Thursday in the first game of a back-to-back. Embiid should benefit from the time off, but he’s likely looking at a one-game week.

With Tyrese Maxey missing the last two games due to illness, the 76ers have looked to Edgecombe for more production. The rookie answered the call. After scoring 22 points in Friday’s win over the Pacers, he put up 26 against the Hawks, a superior defensive team. Over the past two weeks, Edgecombe has provided top-75 value in eight- and nine-cat formats, a respectable improvement on his season-long production.

Having scored at least 20 points in two of his three games before Sunday, George is beginning to round into form. The 76ers’ wing was elite in Atlanta, as he shot 7-of-10 from three and recorded a season-high point total. Over the past two weeks, George has provided top-40 per-game value in eight- and nine-cat formats. Unfortunately for those who have PG rostered, the 76ers’ Week 9 schedule is not good. In addition to them playing just twice, the games are part of a back-to-back.

Mathurin was one of the few bright spots in a low-scoring showdown against the cellar-dwelling Wizards as the Pacers mustered just 89 points in a losing effort. He hit just three of nine from the floor but managed to salvage his box score by getting to the charity stripe for eight free throws. The 23-year-old scoring machine has delivered eighth-round value over the past two weeks, averaging 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.3 blocks over 30 minutes during that six-game sample. The Pacers are off until Thursday when they square off against the Knicks before closing out the week with a road tilt against the Pelicans.

For the first time this season, Embiid will play in a game on one day’s rest, a notable occurrence given his persistent knee issues. While he did play 32 minutes in Friday’s win over the Pacers, don’t be surprised if the 76ers look to keep Embiid away from that number. Regardless of how much he plays, fantasy managers must ensure that Embiid is in their active lineups.

No surprise here, as Maxey was listed as doubtful on Sunday evening. Maxey sat out Friday’s matchup with the Pacers, and Quentin Grimes replaced him in the starting five, posting a 10/9/4/1/1 line with a pair of triples. Grimes is likely to remain in the starting lineup for a second straight game.

Maxey did not play in Friday’s win over the Pacers, with Quentin Grimes replacing him in the starting lineup. The 76ers would likely stick to that approach on Sunday, which also means more playmaking responsibilities for VJ Edgecombe and Paul George.

Coming off his best performance of the season, Embiid faces a vital benchmark on Sunday. If he’s able to play, this would be the first time this season that the former MVP has played a game on one day’s rest. That would represent a significant step forward in Embiid’s rehab process. If he’s unable to play, Andre Drummond would slide into the starting lineup with Adem Bona serving as the backup.

Nembhard’s sore left calf could keep him out of the Pacers’ final game of Week 8. If so, T.J. McConnell would be the next man up, although his playing time has been limited recently. He would be worth streaming if Nembhard can’t go, but the fantasy ceiling would be limited.

Bradley’s strained left quad could potentially keep him out of Sunday’s game. However, he’s no higher than third in the Pacers’ pecking order at the center position, with Jay Huff and Isaiah Jackson ahead of him. Bradley’s absence would not affect fantasy basketball.

Facing one of the NBA’s premier perimeter-shooting big men in Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Huff spent most of his time on the perimeter. Of the 12 shots he attempted, 11 came from beyond the arc. The good news is that Huff made four, but his field-goal percentage took a hit. However, more important than that was the split of the minutes. Huff played 27 minutes, with Isaiah Jackson (7/9/1) logging 12 and Tony Bradley (2/2/1/1) nine. If Huff can continue to get playing time of that quality moving forward, he becomes a more trustworthy fantasy option.

Nembhard has dished out at least seven assists in four straight games, and he has been a top-75 player in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. With T.J. McConnell (15/2/5/2 with one three-pointer in 17 minutes) serving as the backup, the Pacers boast a point guard tandem in which both players can provide solid value, even with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out for the season. Nembhard and McConnell will be especially useful for the final day of Week 8, as Indiana hosts the reeling Wizards.

Five Pacers finished Friday’s defeat in double figures, with Siakam leading the way. He’s scored at least 20 points in seven straight and 12 of his last 13 games, a big reason why the veteran forward has been close to a top-50 player in eight-cat formats over the past month. While Siakam’s slow start didn’t do fantasy managers any favors, he has turned things around. The concern now would be the Pacers deciding to pull the plug on some of its veterans, but that should not be an issue this early in the season.

George shared the team lead in assists with VJ Edgecombe, a byproduct of the 76ers’ lack of starting point guard Tyrese Maxey (illness). While the veteran wing has started slowly after undergoing offseason knee surgery, he enjoyed his best game of the season on Friday. With Joel Embiid able to say the same thing, the 76ers (and fantasy managers) are likely encouraged by what they saw, even with the Pacers being one of the worst teams in the NBA. George will look to end Week 8 on a high note when Philadelphia visits Atlanta on Sunday.

The 76ers handled Tyrese Maxey’s absence with a committee approach, with multiple players taking on playmaking responsibilities throughout Friday’s victory. Edgecombe was among them, and he’s been responsible for at least five assists in three of his last five appearances. The rookie produced solid percentages, with the blocked shot category being the only one left empty. Rostered in 59 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Edgecombe has been a top-100 player in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks.

With Tyrese Maxey (illness) unavailable, Grimes made his fifth start of the season on Friday. The rebounds and assists were encouraging, as was his recording a steal and a blocked shot. However, given Grimes’ shooting ability, fantasy managers likely hoped to get a bit more from him in the points category. If Maxey can’t play on Sunday in Atlanta, look for Grimes to remain in the starting lineup.

For his career, Embiid is averaging 30.9 points per game against the Pacers, so maybe we should have seen Friday’s performance coming. The former MVP was sensational on Friday, shooting over 50 percent from the field and making a more concerted effort to attack the Pacers’ defenders. That resulted in Embiid attempting 18 free throws, a sign that he may be on the right track recovery-wise. The points and minutes were season-highs for the 7-footer, who played 32 minutes. Philadelphia ends Week 8 with a game against the Hawks on Sunday.

Embiid is active and set to make his second straight appearance for the Sixers. Philadelphia has been off since December 7, when it lost 112-108 to the Lakers in a game in which Embiid logged 30 minutes for just the second time this season. He’s averaging 18.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game thus far. Fantasy managers are hoping the former MVP can stay healthy enough to start to see an increased workload and eventually increased production.

While the 76ers welcome back Embiid, they’ll be without Tyrese Maxey, as he is out with an illness. Grimes moves into the starting lineup, with the move also meaning that Edgecombe will have the ball in his hands more as a primary playmaker. Both players now boast higher fantasy ceilings.

Maxey’s status was downgraded from probable to questionable on Friday morning, so things may have been trending in this direction. He’s been one of the best players in fantasy basketball this season, and the 76ers won’t have an easy time filling the void. Nembhard finished Monday’s victory with a season-high 12 assists, and the double-double was his first since March 8, 2025. With Tyrese Haliburton out for the season, it has effectively been Nembhard’s show to run, but an injury kept him on the sidelines for two weeks earlier this season. Counting Monday, Siakam has scored at least 23 points in six straight and eight of his last nine games. The Pacers forward has seen his season-long fantasy value decline, mainly due to the team’s many injuries, most notably Tyrese Haliburton. While the point guard’s absence may have been viewed as an opportunity for Siakam to do more playmaking, that isn’t how things have worked out. He’s providing seventh-round value in eight-cat formats, well behind his Yahoo! ADP (30).

For the first time since the Pacers’ first two games of the season, Mathurin has scored at least 25 points in back-to-back games. With Edgecombe playing 24 minutes in each of his three prior appearances, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said before Sunday’s game that the rookie’s minutes limit would increase “soon.” Sunday must have qualified as “soon,” since Edgecombe played 38 minutes against the Lakers. While the stat line wasn’t great, this is a spot where the increased playing time should be the focus. And with the 76ers off until Friday, Edgecombe has some time to work on his conditioning.

Embiid had a rough night shooting the basketball. In addition to missing all six of his three-point attempts, the 7-footer shot 4-of-15 from inside the arc. Many of his attempts came in the mid-range, and explosiveness seems to still be an issue in the paint. However, fantasy managers should be encouraged by Embiid playing 30 minutes, the second time he’s hit that number this season. The 76ers are off until Friday; hopefully, that time off will help Embiid as he works to get back to full strength.

On a night when Joel Embiid and Paul George (12/6/3/1) combined to score 28 points on 7-of-29 shooting, Maxey did his best to keep the 76ers afloat. Unfortunately for him, another poor third quarter did in the 76ers, with the Lakers winning the period by a 34-24 margin. Maxey finished with another excellent stat line, and he continues to provide top-five value in eight- and nine-cat formats. Siakam remains the top option on the Pacers as they navigate this season without Tyrese Haliburton. Maxey had one of his least productive offensive performances of the season on Friday. He scored fewer the 20 points for the first time, due to inefficient shooting and relatively low volume, but also wasn’t as productive as a passer against the Bucks. The versatile combo guard made up for his lack of offensive output on the defensive end, however. Philadelphia ultimately didn’t need Maxey to be in top form, as the team cruised to a 15-point road win on the second night of a back-to-back. Maxey, one of the NBA’s top scorers, likely won’t have another performance like Friday’s for a little while. He should resume his offensive domination on Sunday against the Lakers.

Grimes had the hot hand on Friday and used it to finish as the Sixers’ leading scorer for the game. He was especially dialed in from deep, accounting for more than a third of Philadelphia’s 17 made three-pointers on the evening, while also making contributions on the glass and finishing as one of the Sixers’ most productive passers. Arguably, his only blemish was the five turnovers he committed, which were nearly half of Philly’s total. Still, Grimes was productive off the bench and continues to find ways to contribute.

George notched one of his better performances of the season on Friday. In his seventh appearance, the veteran wing reached the 20-point mark for the second time, while also tying a season-high in assists. Most importantly, George logged 30 minutes for the first time all season, which could serve as an encouraging sign in terms of where he’s currently at from a health standpoint. His final line against the Bucks isn’t elite by any means, but it should allow fantasy managers to at least be optimistic about George’s potential this season.
