Sabonis also missed Wednesday’s game against the Thunder, but there was some hope he would suit up for the second game of the back-to-back. Drew Eubanks and Precious Achiuwa both started on Wednesday, but with Keegan Murray likely back, we’d assume Achiuwa slides to the bench. Neither is relevant in fantasy formats.

This was the likely outcome a couple of days ago, but now Murray is officially set to make his season debut after offseason thumb surgery. It’s unlikely that he will play a starter’s workload right out of the gate, but he’s not a high usage player to begin with, so he can help the Kings and fantasy managers without 30+ minutes. With Domantas Sabonis (knee) out on Thursday, that’s one less player to compete with Murray for touches, so Murray needs to be rostered in most formats by now.

The absences of Zaccharie Risacher (hip) and Kristaps Porziņģis, plus some foul trouble for Onyeka Okongwu, led to Gueye playing an extended role off the bench. Gueye has had some other strong performances this year, though they have generally come when Jalen Johnson is out. It was good to see him have a nice game off the bench, and they needed his impact on the glass, but he isn’t worth rostering unless Johnson is sidelined.

NAW has been excellent as a fill-in with Trae Young (knee) sidelined. After scoring a season-high 26 points in Atlanta’s last game, he nearly matched that mark in this one. The defensive stats haven’t come as consistently, but he has been a reliable scoring option, having scored at least 20 points in five of his last eight games. As long as Young is sidelined, NAW will continue to see a boost in usage and production, but he’ll still be worth rostering when Trae returns.

Even though it wasn’t enough for the Hawks to win, Johnson’s elite stretch has continued. This was his third straight game with at least 25 points, and while his double-double streak came to an end, he came close to recording a triple-double for the second time in three games. Johnson has been a top-five player in fantasy basketball over the past two weeks, and he’ll continue to produce to that level as long as Trae Young (knee) remains sidelined.

This was a third consecutive start for Okongwu due to the continued absence of Kristaps Porzingis with a knee sprain. He continues to be an effective scorer, averaging 26.7 points and 5.0 three-pointers per game during this three-game stretch. However, he was rendered ineffective on the glass in this one. Dyson Daniels, Jalen Johnson and Mouhamed Gueye made an impact as rebounders, so the Hawks weren’t dominated on the boards. However, they didn’t lose that battle, and it’s difficult to look elsewhere when the starting center only grabs one rebound. Okongwu’s rebounding isn’t his best attribute, but it typically isn’t this level of weakness.

While Alexander-Walker has done more scoring since moving into the starting lineup for the injured Trae Young, the production in other categories has been solid. Since Halloween, he has provided eight-round value in nine-cat formats. The Hawks were once again without Kristaps Porziņǵis (knee), which meant it was “prime time” for Okongwu. Following a fourth straight home loss, Kings coach Doug Christie was clearly frustrated with his squad’s effort and discussed the possibility of making changes to the starting lineup. The lone change was moving Schroder to the bench, and he responded with a strong performance. That was great to see, but a move to the bench is still a bad thing for his upside in fantasy hoops. Johnson was dominant in this game, recording the third triple-double of his career and his first of the season. On top of that, he set new career-highs for points, rebounds, assists and steals while matching his career-high for three-pointers. Usually it’s difficult to say if a game is truly the best of a player’s career, but it doesn’t feel hyperbolic to say that for Johnson. He started to break out last season, but shoulder injuries cut his year short. Now, he’s healthy enough to put the league on notice, and the absence of Trae Young (knee) has allowed Johnson to see a bump in usage. With Young likely still a few weeks away from returning, Johnson will continue to run the show in Atlanta, which should lead to more elite production from him. What will be interesting to see is how this team adjusts to Young’s return; the Hawks have the second-best defensive rating in the league in the month of November and have won four in a row without him.

With Kristaps Porzingis (rest) sitting out the second night of the Hawks’ back-to-back, Okongwu got the starting nod, as expected. What wasn’t expected was how effective he’d be from deep. He shattered his previous career-high for triples and set a new career-high for points as well. Okongwu has improved as a deep-range shooter throughout his career, but the strides he has taken this year can’t be understated; he’s averaging 1.6 three-pointers per game this year, which is more than double what he averaged last year. OO is developing into a true stretch five, which makes him and the Hawks even more dangerous. He’s at his best in the box score when Porzingis isn’t available, but the two centers have been able to share the floor at times this year as well. Okongwu will continue to be a reliable option in fantasy basketball, regardless of what format you’re playing in. However, he turns into a fantasy superstar when Porzingis is out, which is worth noting since the Hawks have another back-to-back coming up next weekend.

Sabonis was one of several Kings players to have a rough night on Wednesday against Atlanta. Sabonis’ performance was one of the better, though — he led all starters in scoring and was the only starter to collect multiple steals.
