While the Clippers brought in Bradley Beal and Chris Paul this offseason, Beal is the one who moves into the starting lineup for the season opener. Paul still figures to have a significant bench role this season backing up James Harden and perhaps even lightening his workload as coach Tyronn Lue has mentioned in training camp.

DeRozan was held out of Friday’s preseason finale against the Lakers due to a sore groin. He’s been given a clean bill of health, so the veteran wing will occupy his usual place within the Kings’ starting lineup. Fantasy managers need to ensure DeRozan is in their lineups before they lock.

The Kings will be without three frontcourt players for Wednesday’s opener, as Jones joins Keegan Murray (thumb) and Domantas Sabonis (hamstring) on the injury report. Jones misses out on the opportunity to play rotation minutes off the bench, meaning the Kings will require more of Drew Eubanks and Dario Šarić, with Dylan Cardwell potentially receiving some playing time.

Limited to individual work during Monday’s practice with a left ankle injury, Schröder is good to go for Wednesday’s opener. He’ll serve as the Kings’ starting point guard, giving the veteran a shot at achieving fantasy relevance. Schröder performed well to begin last season but took a step back when he was traded from Brooklyn to Golden State. He did bounce back in Detroit to end the season, but that was as Cade Cunningham’s backup.

After missing Monday’s practice due to illness, Dunn is not on the injury report for Wednesday’s season opener. After spending most of last season as a starter, he’ll come off the bench, which limits Dunn’s already-low fantasy value. There’s no need to roster him in most fantasy leagues.

Miller being sidelined will not significantly impact fantasy basketball or the Clippers’ rotation, as the team is healthy otherwise. However, there may be a point in the season when he offers deep-league streaming value, especially considering the injury histories of some of the more prominent Clippers on the roster.

Schröder injured his left ankle during the third quarter of Sacramento’s preseason finale on Friday. While he did return to the game, the veteran point guard being limited to individual work two days before the season opener is concerning. With Russell Westbrook only being signed over the weekend, expectations should not be too high for him, especially since he did not play during the preseason. Nique Clifford, whose minutes increased after the Kings lost Keegan Murray (thumb), and Keon Ellis will have added importance if Schröder can’t play on Wednesday in Phoenix.

Under normal circumstances, Jones’ absence from practice would not be something for fantasy managers to worry about. However, with Domantas Sabonis (hamstring) and Keegan Murray (thumb) out, there’s a legitimate chance Jones will be asked to play rotation minutes when the regular season begins. Sacramento visits the Suns on Wednesday. Jones is unlikely to have an impact in standard fantasy leagues, but he’s worth tracking in deep formats.

Dunn was the only player not to practice for the Clippers on Monday, casting some doubt on his availability for Wednesday’s opener against the Jazz. While he did start 58 of the 74 games he played last season, Dunn’s role is likely to be diminished this season due to the arrivals of Bradley Beal and Kris Paul.

Sabonis injured his hamstring during Wednesday’s exhibition against the Clippers, exiting during the fourth quarter. He has since been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain and will be evaluated in one week, meaning the Kings will be without their starting center for at least the first two games of the regular season. Drew Eubanks started Friday’s preseason finale and will likely hold onto that role, with Dario Šarić and rookie Maxime Raynaud providing depth off the bench.

With Malik Monk (illness) out for the second straight game, Ellis was Sacramento’s best option off the bench Friday night. And he put on a show from deep, shooting 6-of-9 while finishing a blocked shot shy of a complete line. Even if Monk is back for Wednesday’s regular-season opener, Ellis’ defensive ability should get him more playing time with Keegan Murray (thumb) unavailable. Fantasy managers considering selecting Ellis with a late-round pick should do so with the understanding that nights like Friday have not been the norm for him offensively. Especially with DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis among the starters, as neither played on Friday.

Despite a third-quarter injury scare in which Lakers center Deandre Ayton landed on his foot after attempting to block a shot, Schröder returned to the game and played 28 minutes in the one-point victory. Even with the recent signing of Russell Westbrook, Schröder will be the Kings’ starting point guard when the regular season begins next week. The issue is that he’s rarely been anything more than a late-round option in standard fantasy leagues. Schröder’s status as the starting point guard will get him selected in most fantasy drafts, but managers need to keep their expectations in check.

With most of the Clippers’ rotation players either resting or playing limited minutes, Sanders saw some extended run on Friday and took full advantage. The rookie out of Nevada logged 37 minutes and utilized the three-point shot to pour in a game-high in points on the evening. Sanders will likely spend most of his rookie season in the NBA G League, but his strong end to the preseason should send him into his first regular season with some positive momentum.

Beal logged his first minutes in a Clippers uniform on Friday as he made his way back from offseason knee surgery. He got the start and made all six of his two-point shots before his night ended after the first half. Beal is expected to start for the Clippers in their regular-season opener and could serve as a nice replacement for Norman Powell, who had a career-best season alongside James Harden last season before being traded to the Miami Heat. If Beal can remain healthy, he should be a solid addition to a veteran team that has plenty of depth.

Schröder and LaVine are the only expected starters in the lineup for Sacramento’s final game of the preseason. DeMar DeRozan, Keegan Murray and Domantas Sabonis are out due to injury, with Murray being the one guaranteed not to be available when the regular season begins next week. Of the three replacements, Clifford is the one to watch, as the rookie may be asked to take on a more prominent role, even if he comes off the bench once the games truly count.

The Clippers are resting multiple regulars for Friday’s preseason finale, resulting in a starting lineup that we won’t see when the team opens its regular season on October 22. The most notable name in the lineup is Beal, who’s making his unofficial Clippers debut after missing the first three games of the preseason after undergoing knee surgery in July. He’ll start at shooting guard when the regular season begins, sharing the backcourt with James Harden.

Monk will miss a second consecutive preseason game due to illness. With Keegan Murray (thumb) sidelined, Monk is one of the potential replacements in the starting lineup. Keon Ellis is also in the mix, and the absences will likely push him into the starting five for Friday’s preseason finale at a minimum. The question is whether the issue is severe enough to threaten his status for Sacramento’s October 22 regular-season opener against the Suns. Beal has been recovering from an arthroscopic knee procedure that he underwent in July, which has limited him throughout training camp and prevented him from playing in the preseason. Sabonis suffered a mild hamstring strain during Wednesday’s exhibition loss to the Clippers. With Keegan Murray already sidelined for four weeks, the Kings could begin the regular season down two frontcourt starters. Murray, who is set to be sidelined until November, will be kept around in Sacramento through the end of the decade. The 2022 top-five pick is the best defender in the Kings’ starting lineup, and they’ll certainly miss him dearly for the first few weeks of the season. It will be a one-year deal worth $3.6 million. Westbrook will join a backcourt that features Dennis Schroder, Malik Monk and Keon Ellis, which doesn’t really address the Kings’ frontcourt depth after the Keegan Murray injury. He chipped in two rebounds, an assist and two steals. Leonard led LA in scoring, and he did it efficiently, shooting 5-of-10 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Murray injured his left thumb during the first half of Friday’s exhibition defeat. Further examination of the injury revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament that will require surgery. He’ll miss at least four weeks, opening up a spot in the starting lineup. While this will push Murray down some draft boards, Malik Monk, Keon Ellis and rookie Nique Clifford will be worth a look in many leagues. Clifford has been used at all three perimeter positions during the preseason, and Clifford’s defensive ability could mesh well with the Kings’ starting lineup if given the opportunity to start. Monk remained a starter last season after the Kings traded De’Aaron Fox to the Spurs.

Murray played 16 first-half minutes in Friday’s 124-123 defeat before suffering a left thumb injury late in the second quarter. The Kings would announce at the half that he would not return, with Murray recording a stat line of nine points (4-of-7 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Rookie Nique Clifford’s playing time increased due to the injury, with the guard logging 26 minutes off the bench. With Jonas Valančiūnas now in Denver as part of the trade that sent Šarić to Sacramento and Trey Lyles now at Real Madrid, the Kings have an opening to fill behind starting center Domantas Sabonis. Drew Eubanks (11/3/0/1) and rookie Maxime Raynaud (2/5/4) are also competing for the opportunity, but Šarić can offer a different dimension with his three-point shooting. He made all four attempts on Friday, but the downside is that he provided no value outside of points and triples. There’s no need to draft any of the Kings competing for the backup center role in redraft leagues, although Reynaud is worth selecting in dynasty leagues.

After scoring 16 points in 15 minutes in Wednesday’s preseason opener, LaVine put forth another solid effort on Friday. Through two games, he’s scored 35 points while shooting 12-of-18 from the field, a clear sign that LaVine is ready for the regular season. He’s hovered around the top 50 in recent seasons, and there’s little reason to expect that to change in 2025-26. He’ll be a relatively safe middle-round option in standard league drafts.

After two seasons with the Jazz, Collins joined a Clippers team that aims to contend for a championship this season. That alone preserves some of his fantasy value after spending two years with a franchise willing to tank to increase its draft lottery odds. However, Collins was used in a reserve role against Guangzhou, with Derrick Jones Jr. (six points, one rebound and two three-pointers in eight minutes) receiving the starting nod. There’s still a lot of basketball to be played during the preseason, so Collins is not locked into a reserve role. But this is a position battle to track, as JC’s ceiling would be limited if he’s asked to come off the bench full-time.

Paul began his second stint with the Clippers on Thursday, putting forth a stellar performance against an overmatched Guangzhou squad. After a disappointing 2023-24 season with the Warriors, CP3 was rejuvenated during his lone season with the Spurs. However, he’ll be asked to serve as James Harden’s backup in Los Angeles, which limits the 40-year-old’s fantasy ceiling. Lopez agreed to a deal with the Clippers during the offseason and will slot in as Ivica Zubac’s backup after seven productive seasons in Milwaukee. No worse than a top-60 player in any of his three prior seasons, Lopez will have a tough time cracking the top-100 off the bench. Harden did not score much in the Clippers’ preseason opener, but he did lead the team in assists. By now, fantasy managers are aware of what The Beard brings to the table. He can offer first-round value in category leagues, but the playing time will likely decrease due to the addition of Chris Paul to the roster. In fact, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said early in camp that he wants to reduce Harden’s workload this season. CP3 played 17 minutes off the bench and is reliable enough to ensure the Clippers don’t overwork Harden this season.

Coming off the best season of his NBA career, Zubac got his preseason off to a good start Thursday night. Along with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, the 7-footer did not play after halftime in Thursday’s blowout victory. Zubac’s fantasy outlook may not be as rosy as some believe it to be, based on his Yahoo! ADP. Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said earlier this preseason that Zubac played too much last season, and that was due to the team’s lack of reliable centers behind their starter. With the additions of Brook Lopez and John Collins, Zubac may not reach 30 minutes per game after averaging nearly 33 last season.

Leonard was supposed to be capped at 17 minutes in Thursday’s preseason opener, but he exceeded that threshold by one minute. The Clippers had to be encouraged by what they saw from their star forward, as he shot the ball well from beyond the arc. Compared to other offseasons, Leonard could focus on his game instead of getting healthy. That should benefit him once the regular season begins, but fantasy managers should anticipate Kawhi being under some restrictions either way. The availability question is what lowers his ADP, as the Clippers forward can offer elite value when he’s on the floor.

Unfortunately, Bogi only played two minutes in Thursday’s exhibition opener before exiting with a lower back injury. Harden, Leonard and Zubac being the starting lineup for the Clippers’ preseason opener was to be expected. However, with Bradley Beal (knee) still working his way back from offseason surgery, Bogdanović will start at shooting guard. He had an injury scare during EuroBasket this summer. However, while Bogi was limited early in training camp, the limitations did not last long. Also of note is Jones receiving the starting nod at the four, with John Collins coming off the bench. Despite his scoring average decreasing by nearly three points per game last season, Murray still managed to provide top-100 fantasy value. Rebounding had much to do with his fantasy value remaining solid, as the Kings forward averaged a career-high 6.7 boards per game. Murray didn’t rebound much in Sacramento’s preseason opener, but he did offer excellent defensive stats, notably blocking four shots. That’s a number he’s reached just once in his first three seasons, April 7, 2024, against the Nets. Murray’s ability to remain a top-100 player will depend on what he can do defensively, as once again, he stands no higher than fourth in the offensive pecking order.

Schroder made his unofficial Kings debut Wednesday night, playing 24 minutes. While the veteran point guard did tie for the team lead in rebounds, he only recorded one assist. Schroder was a valuable rotation piece for the Pistons to end last season, but that did not translate into reliable fantasy value. Sabonis led the Kings in scoring Wednesday night, shooting 70 percent from the field in 23 minutes of action. However, the production in the other categories was limited. There isn’t much to worry about after one preseason game. Still, the Kings’ center’s production took a hit after last February’s trade deadline, with Sacramento moving De’Aaron Fox and acquiring Zach LaVine in a three-team deal. The point guard issue has been addressed via the addition of Dennis Schröder, but Sabonis remains part of an offense that includes two ball-dominant wings in Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. While an effective fantasy option, Sabonis should not have a first-round ADP due to the Kings’ roster.
