Making his first appearance since the season opener, Powell sprained the same ankle late in the first quarter of Sunday’s game. The rookie may be headed for another extended absence, given the prior injury. While Powell’s absence would not impact fantasy basketball in the short term, it would mean a few more minutes for fellow reserve Jalen Wilson.

Vassell has a Yahoo! ADP of 97, and he’s played to that level thus far. His most significant issue has been foul shooting, with the Spurs’ wing making just 62.5 percent of his attempts. Remove that category from the equation, and Vassell is providing seventh-round per-game value. He’s a career 80.4 percent shooter from the charity stripe, so Vassell should turn things around eventually. The Spurs end Week 2 with a game against the Suns on Sunday.

Wembanyama and his teammates made franchise history on Thursday, becoming the first team to start a regular season with five consecutive wins. He’s lived up to the preseason hype and then some personally, sitting atop the fantasy rankings in eight- and nine-cat formats. Wemby has blocked at least five shots in three of San Antonio’s first five games and has recorded a double-double in all five. San Antonio hits the road for its final game of Week 2, at Phoenix on Sunday.

There will be growing pains with the Nets using three of their five first-round picks in June’s draft on lead guards (Ben Saraf, Egor Dëmin and Nolan Traoré). However, that also means some of the team’s more experienced players may have opportunities to make plays for others. Mann fits the mold, and his six assists on Wednesday were the second-most a Nets player has recorded in a game this season (Cam Thomas had nine against Cleveland on October 24). Mann isn’t at the point where he’s a must-add player, but he’s worth watching due to the Nets’ young roster.

Claxton recorded his first double-double of the season on Wednesday, and rebounding has been a struggle for the 6-foot-11 center. He’s averaging 6.6 boards per game through five appearances, but that number is boosted by Wednesday’s effort and a nine-rebound performance against the Cavaliers on October 24. In his other three games, Claxton grabbed five rebounds or fewer. Claxton is a player that fantasy managers draft with the expectation that they’ll have to punt free-throw percentage, not rebounds.

While Thomas is averaging 23.3 points per game this season, his field-goal percentage has significantly damaged his fantasy value. He’s shooting 39.5 percent from the field, which would be the lowest of his five-year career. Thomas is going to get his numbers, and the fantasy value should improve over the course of the season. However, inefficiency was a concern, especially on a team that’s limited regarding playmakers who can set up their teammates. Thomas will look to clean some things up when Brooklyn hosts the 76ers on Sunday.

Porter notched his second 30-point game of the season on Wednesday, one shy of his tally for the 2024-25 campaign. While he’s no longer in a situation where contending for a title is the expectation, moving from Denver to Brooklyn has raised Porter’s offensive ceiling. Porter has been close to a top-50 fantasy player thus far, with limited defensive production and a 70 percent mark at the foul line weighing down his value.

Castle has been able to score at a decent rate and provide his fair share of assists this season, but he has had two glaring issues: his free throw percentage and turnovers. Through four games, he is shooting 57.1 percent from the line on 8.8 attempts per game and is averaging 6.3 turnovers per game. Those two issues have tanked his value in category leagues, even though he has been decent in other categories. He’ll look to have a more efficient performance against the Heat on Thursday.

Wemby wasn’t able to provide his usual dominant dose of blocks, and he didn’t attempt a three-pointer, but that didn’t stop him from having an insane night in the box score. He was perfect at the line and only missed one shot, which was great to see after he made less than 50 percent of his shots and missed five free throws on Sunday. There weren’t many bright spots in this game for Brooklyn, but Sharpe was able to record his first double-double of the season off the bench. He played 22 minutes to Noah Clowney’s 16 and was significantly more productive. Unsurprisingly, Porter has been featured heavily on offense to start the season. However, that has only led to one big scoring night, and it wasn’t on Monday. This was an efficient night for MPJ, but he set a season-low for shot attempts. MPJ was drafted in the sixth round of Yahoo! leagues with the idea that he would be a high-volume scorer for the Nets to start the year. He’ll need to shoot more against the Hawks on Wednesday to bounce back.

Mann has been starting for the Nets, but he hadn’t been contributing much on the offensive end. However, he popped out of nowhere to lead them in scoring in this one. Claxton shot the ball well on Sunday, but he had to deal with foul trouble. Taking on San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama is never easy, but the good news for Claxton is that he’ll only see the phenom once more this season. After a disappointing 2024-25 season, the Nets center is ranked just outside the top-100 in nine-cat formats through three games. The biggest surprise is that Claxton has yet to block a shot after averaging at least one per game in his previous five seasons.

Having shot nearly 49 percent from the field in his first two games as a Net, Porter cooled down on Sunday. However, he provided solid value in rebounds, assists and steals, playing 37 minutes. While the move east means Porter won’t be on a team considered a title contender, it raised his fantasy ceiling. MPJ isn’t a “sell high” player after three games, but that’s something for fantasy managers to track, especially if they’re concerned that the Nets could look to prioritize their rookies even more later this season.

One game removed from fracturing his nose after landing face-first during a loss to the Cavaliers, Thomas suffered another facial injury on Sunday. He suffered a cut over his left eye late in the second quarter. However, while Thomas was not on the court to begin the second half, he returned to continue his offensive assault. The Nets guard finished with his first 40-point game since November 15, 2024, shooting 44 percent from the field and 100 percent from the foul line. Unfortunately, Thomas did not provide any assists or defensive status, but experienced fantasy managers know not to expect consistent value from him in those categories.

After shooting 3-of-12 from the field in Friday’s loss to the Pelicans, Harper rebounded fantastically on Sunday. The rookie was highly efficient as a scorer and playmaker, shooting over 50 percent from the field and not committing a turnover. Harper’s ability to run the show efficiently came in handy against the Nets, as starter Stephon Castle (13/6/3) committed five turnovers. Johnson’s fantasy value has been limited due to his inability to consistently provide value outside of points and rebounds. While he had a good afternoon shooting the basketball and was a factor on the glass, the limited assists and steals are why Johnson remains a deep-league option at best. Having totaled 12 points in San Antonio’s first two games, Champagnie contributed a baker’s dozen against the Nets. He certainly has fans within the Spurs organization, and with good reason. Champagnie’s a good defender who can contribute solid perimeter shooting. He shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc on Sunday, helping to compensate for Harrison Barnes (4/3/1) missing all five of his attempts. Wembanyama’s percentages on the final game day of Week 1 weren’t great, but that doesn’t matter much given the robust stat line. Once again, he filled out the stat sheet, including nine “stocks,” to help the Spurs avoid losing a game they led by as much as 26 before the Nets rallied. Even on nights when his shots aren’t falling at a high rate, Wembanyama will provide elite value because of his abilities as a rebounder and defender. He’s the first player in NBA history to tally at least 100 points and 15 blocks through a team’s first three games. Kornet’s debut for the Spurs was quiet, but he was able to record his first double-double as a Spur in this game. He only played 16 minutes in the season opener, but coach Mitch Johnson utilized the “double-big” lineup, which features Kornet and Victor Wembanyama playing together, more often than he did on Wednesday. Wednesday’s game included the top two picks in June’s draft. However, due to his thumb injury and being on a roster with the last two Rookie of the Year winners, Harper flew under the radar in Dallas. He had a solid night shooting the basketball, but the rookie was responsible for twice as many turnovers as assists and landed in foul trouble. With De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) unavailable, Harper won’t lack opportunities to play rotation minutes. While Victor Wembanyama received most of the attention in the aftermath of San Antonio’s 125-92 victory, and with good reason, Castle’s night was encouraging. Starting at point guard for the injured De’Aaron Fox, the second-year guard shot the ball well from the field and was a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. However, there were negatives, as Castle shot 5-of-10 from the foul line and committed five turnovers. Those two categories will determine if Castle can outperform his Yahoo! ADP of 115 this season. With the last two Rookie of the Year award winners and this season’s presumed favorite to win the floor on the court, all eyes were on American Airlines Arena. Whether it was above the rim, in the mid-range or from beyond the arc, Wemby did what he wanted Wednesday night, finishing with a franchise record for points in a season opener.
