Podziemski had the opportunity to start with the Warriors missing most of its starting lineup against the Heat. The 22-year-old guard had 20 points on 19 attempts in the loss, but also chipped in eight rebounds. It was his first game with at least 20 points since October 27 against the Grizzlies. Podziemski is likely headed back to the bench for Friday’s game against the Timberwolves.

Hield had 18 points in 31 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday. With the Warriors down multiple starters, the 32-year-old shooting guard had season-highs in points and minutes. Melton has been out since undergoing surgery on his left ACL last December, but a return does not appear to be far off. He has been practicing with the Warriors’ G League affiliate, and the team plans to continue incorporating him into practices as he nears a return. While Vassell did not shoot well on Tuesday, the assists and defensive stats are what should be the focus. With Stephon Castle (hip) out for at least one to two weeks, there should be more opportunities for Vassell to serve as a primary playmaker. Two days removed from recording his first double-double of the season, Johnson stepped up with another solid outing in the second game the Spurs have played since losing Victor Wembanyama to a calf strain. He hasn’t been the best category league option for most of his NBA career, but Johnson may be worth a look with Wemby and Stephon Castle unavailable. However, one can’t blame those who may want to see more before committing, as Keldon is ranked just outside the top-150 in nine-cat formats. If the Spurs were searching for a closer with Victor Wembanyama out, Barnes stepped up to fill the void on Tuesday. With the Spurs trailing by a point with just over three minutes remaining, the veteran forward went on a personal 7-0 run to reclaim control of the game. Keldon Johnson and De’Aaron Fox would score baskets to cap the victory, but Barnes’ performance is what won the game. Rostered in 15 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he’s scored 20 points or more in two straight games. He scored 22 in the second half, the final two coming on a windmill dunk that capped a game-ending 11-0 run. Horford’s role this year has been too limited and inconsistent for him to be rostered in standard leagues, but it certainly isn’t because he isn’t capable. Preserving Horford for the postseason is far more important than playing him a ton early on. This was only the third time this year that he surpassed 25 minutes, and it isn’t surprising that it led to one of his better performances. Butler’s previous season-high of 31 points came in the season-opening win over the Lakers. Since then, this is the only time he has eclipsed the 30-point mark. Following his worst performance of the season, Curry was able to respond with a big night. He was able to pour in the points, but it wasn’t enough for Golden State to get the win. Curry’s assists have been down this year, but he was able to set a new season-high for dimes in this game. Fantasy managers will be happy with this well-rounded performance from Steph, even if the Warriors’ three-game win streak came to an end. On a night when Stephen Curry (9/5/3/0/1 with one three-pointer) shot 2-of-11 from the field, Moody came through with a huge night. And he didn’t take long to get going, hitting seven three-pointers in the first quarter. He’s the third player in franchise history to hit at least seven threes in a quarter, joining Curry and Klay Thompson.
