Adebayo left Wednesday’s game after only eight minutes with what was referred to as a foot injury. He had an MRI today, and the results appear to be great news for the Heat. A big toe sprain could linger, and the Heat are likely to be cautious with their big man this early in the season, but it’s a relief for the team that Adebayo has avoided a major injury. Kel’el Ware figures to pick up big minutes on Friday and would be worth an add in fantasy leagues as long as Adebayo is out.

Due to calf and wrist injuries, Sochan did not make his first appearance of the season until Wednesday. He looked sharp offensively, only missing one shot from the field. More encouraging may be the fact that Sochan played 23 minutes without any issues. Also making their season debuts for the Spurs were Lindy Waters III (six points, one rebound and two three-pointers) and Kelly Olynyk (four points, four rebounds and three assists), but they’re unlikely to impact fantasy basketball in the way that Sochan potentially can.

Wembanyama was kept in check for the second straight game, as the Lakers were able to get him into early foul trouble. That appeared to upset the 7-foot-4 phenom’s rhythm, despite the final point total. As was the case for the Suns on Sunday, the Lakers were aggressive in their approach to defending Wembanyama, and they relentlessly attacked the paint when he was on the bench. Wemby and the Spurs return home for a Friday/Saturday back-to-back against the Rockets and Pelicans to end the week.

Adebayo injured his left foot during the first half of Thursday’s game, and while the Heat announced that he was questionable to return, the three-time All-Star never did. Losing Bam for an extended period of time would be massive for the Heat, thrusting Kel’el Ware into the spotlight. He played 27 minutes off the bench in Denver, finishing with 13 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, one block and two three-pointers. Ware is rostered in 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and managers in 10-team leagues may want to get ahead of the rush to add the second-year center.

Powell returned from a groin injury that caused him to miss three games on Monday with 21 points in a win over his former team the Clippers. The 32-year-old shooting guard continues to look like he’s over the injury as he dropped 23 points and four threes on the Nuggets on Wednesday. Powell will have Thursday off before the Heat play a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday. Playing in both of those games appears to be the last hurdle for Powell.

Ware moved back to the bench on Monday with Norman Powell returning after missing three games with a groin injury. The 21-year-old center then ended up starting the second half on Wednesday while Bam Adebayo didn’t return to the game after suffering a foot injury. Ware was able to manage a double-double in 27 minutes off the bench. His fantasy value would increase significantly if Adebayo were to miss time. After an inefficient 15-point effort against the Lakers on Sunday, Wiggins rebounded with a solid offensive showing against the Clippers. He shot over 50 percent from the field and recorded a complete stat line in the 120-119 victory. However, the production was limited outside of points and three-pointers. The good news for fantasy managers is that Wiggins’ output has been respectable outside of free-throw percentage, as he’s making just 57.9 percent of his attempts. Remove that category from the equation, and Wggins is a top-100 player.

Adebayo recorded his fourth double-double of the season on Monday, helping Miami hold on for a one-point win. And after shooting 36.2 percent from the field in his first three games, the Heat center has been a more efficient scorer. Adebayo has scored 25 points or more in three of his last four and has provided top-15 value in nine-cat formats during this stretch. Getting Tyler Herro back will help with the offensive spacing when that time comes, but Adebayo should be fine regardless of who else is available for the Heat.

It was a nice homecoming on Sunday night for the former UCLA Bruin, who scored a season high in points against the Lakers. The 30-point effort came just two games after logging a previous high of 28 points against the Hornets. Similar to the game against Charlotte, Jaquez Jr. shot the ball efficiently from the floor and made his way to the free-throw line frequently to conclude as the Heat’s leading scorer on the evening. Additionally, the third-year forward made his usual impact as a rebounder and facilitator in his 34 minutes of game action. He finished with a strong performance overall and has a chance to do so again against the Clippers on Monday night.

Adebayo didn’t quite recapture the magic of his recent 31-point outing against the Spurs, but he was still productive on the offensive end on Sunday. Low volume kept Adebayo to 11 shot attempts, but his efficiency allowed him to finish in double figures and as one of the Heat’s top scorers. Yet, his production on the defensive end was arguably more noteworthy — here, he collected four stocks and was one of two Miami players to tally at least one block and one steal. He’ll have a chance on Monday to log an even better performance against the Clippers on the second night of a back-to-back.

Wiggins’ two-game streak of scoring at least 20 points came to an end against the Lakers, as the former first-overall pick struggled with his shooting on Sunday, especially from beyond the arc. In addition to his struggles from the field, he was unable to get others involved, as seen by his low assist total. The end result was an unspectacular fantasy performance that likely underwhelmed, considering the scoring and overall offensive opportunities that presented themselves with Norman Powell (groin) and Tyler Herro (foot) out of the lineup.

Johnson supplied the lone Spurs highlight from the team’s first loss of the season, throwing down a dunk on Suns center Mark Williams during the fourth quarter. To say the Suns may have provided the rest of the NBA with the “blueprint” to defending Wembanyama would be an overstatement. However, they were excellent on Sunday, showing the 7-foot-3 phenom a variety of defensive looks. Traditional centers and wings like Royce O’Neale all had opportunities to guard Wembanyama, who was crowded on most of his touches. On a night when Victor Wembanyama was neutralized, Castle had one of his best performances of the season. The second-year guard was highly efficient, shooting over 50 percent from the field and committing two turnovers. The latter category has been an issue for Castle, who’s filling in at point guard for the injured De’Aaron Fox. He’s averaging 4.7 turnovers per game and has recorded five or more in four of six games. However, Castle has tallied 15 assists and four turnovers over his last two.
