Hawkins surpassed the 20-point mark for the second time since the All-Star break and the eighth time this season on Sunday. While there are opportunities for the second-year guard to produce, especially with Trey Murphy out for the season and Zion Williamson also sidelined on Sunday, Hawkins hasn’t consistently taken advantage of them. Over the past two weeks, he has been ranked outside the top 200 in eight- and nine-cat formats. However, Monday’s game against the 76ers may be a streaming opportunity, depending on which Pelicans are available.

After scoring 36 points on 14-of-48 shooting in his three games prior, McCollum exploded in Detroit. Recording his first game of 40 points or more since February 13, the veteran guard has met or exceeded that number four times this season. With McCollum being ranked well outside the top 100 in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks, he needed a day like Sunday to get untracked. Unfortunately, the Pelicans have a small Week 21 slate, with the first of three games scheduled for Monday against the 76ers.

Missi and Alvarado are questionable for Sunday’s game after starting Friday’s loss to the Timberwolves. Karlo Matkovic will have more playing time if the former is forced to sit, while Jordan Hawkins may be asked to start if Alvarado cannot play. Matkovic and Hawkins are not locks to provide reliable value when allowed to start, but they’d be worth a roll of the dice in deep leagues.

The managers that held onto Vassell through his slump are reaping the rewards. In the month of March, Vassell has averaged 18.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals, 1.1 blocks and three three-pointers while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor and only turning the ball over once per game. That has him ranked in the top ten in nine-cat value this month. Wednesday’s win over the Knicks was a quieter performance for him, but he was able to bounce back well on Friday.

Though he is known for being a poor option in category formats, Johnson was able to make an impact across the board on Friday. Over San Antonio’s last four games, Johnson has averaged two steals and one block per game. His season averages are 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks, so managers shouldn’t expect the defensive production to continue. However, it has been a nice boost for the managers that have held onto him. He should continue to be a strong option for the rest of the season, though his game is typically catered for points leagues.

Sochan has started the last two games for San Antonio as part of a smaller starting lineup, and that has led to two wins for the Spurs. Sochan has scored in double figure in six consecutive games, but his 23 points on Friday were a new season-high for him. Though the Spurs’ playoff hops went down the drain when Victor Wembanyama was ruled out for the rest of the season, they have won four of their last six games and sit just three games out of the postseason picture. Sochan should continue to produce at a high level as long as he is starting.

Without Zion Williamson, the Pelicans were no match for the Timberwolves Friday as they lost by 41 points. Missi was -31 in 28 minutes only because he tied CJ McCollum for the most minutes on New Orleans. The good news is the 20-year-old center was able to play that many minutes in his third game back from an ankle injury. The bad news is he didn’t score very much in garbage time. New Orleans will finish up the week with a game against the Pistons Sunday.

McCollum struggled as the Pelicans were outclassed by the Timberwolves Friday. New Orleans lost by 41 points and the 33-year-old shooting guard was -20 in 28 minutes. McCollum didn’t have his three-point shot going at all as he was 1-of-7 from behind the three-point line. He also committed six turnovers, which was as many as he had over the previous four games. This is a new injury for Williamson who has appeared in two straight games for New Orleans. In his absence, Jeremiah Robinson=Earl and Karlo Matkovic could see a bump in playing time. Alvarado moved into the starting lineup on Wednesday, the Pelicans’ first game since they lost Trey Murphy to a season-ending shoulder injury. He didn’t provide much scoring, but the assists and three-pointers will benefit some deep-league managers. Alvarado effectively split minutes with Jordan Hawkins, who logged 23 and finished with 13 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and two three-pointers. Alvarado offers a safer fantasy floor, but Hawkins will also have deep-league value for the rest of the season.

After a brutal 1-of-15 performance in Monday’s loss to the Pistons, McCollum’s accuracy improved on Wednesday. Shooting 7-of-18 isn’t great, but it was significantly better than what he offered two nights prior. McCollum has not provided good value recently, as he is ranked just inside the top 200 in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. Williamson was outstanding on Wednesday, doing a little of everything to lead the Pelicans to a win over the Timberwolves. He’s scored 20 points or more in nine straight games, providing top-50 value in eight-cat formats over the past three weeks. San Antonio decided to go small on Wednesday, with Sochan replacing Bismack Biyombo (four points and four rebounds in 10 minutes) in the starting lineup. While it did not work to slow Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 31 points, the Spurs neutralized the other Knicks starters. Sochan has reached double figures in his last five outings, but he’s ranked well outside the top 200 in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. Born in New York City and an alumnus of Seton Hall, Mamukelashvili had the best night of his NBA career on Wednesday. According to Justin Russo, he became the first player in NBA history to record at least 34 points and five rebounds in fewer than 20 minutes. While Mamukelashvili has rarely been a fantasy asset, he’s the kind of player who can emerge during the “silly season.” And with the Spurs playing two lottery-bound teams (Philadelphia and Toronto) to end Week 20, it would be unsurprising if Mamu could provide consistent value.

It’s easy to find someone to point fingers at for the blowout loss. McCollum and Jose Alvarado, who started the second half after Trey Murphy exited with a shoulder injury, combined to make just two of their 25 shot attempts.
