On Thursday, Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman said that Wagner was “very close” to returning. Monday could be that day, as he’s listed as questionable on the injury report. The only question is whether he’ll start immediately, likely bumping Anthony Black to the bench, or come off the bench upon being cleared to play. Managers who have rostered Black should not drop him if he’s moved to the bench.

Acquired from the Hawks for Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick, Kennard made his Lakers’ debut on Saturday. As expected, he was used in a reserve role, playing 26 minutes. Kennard isn’t at the point where he’s worth relying on in most fantasy leagues. But he’ll have every opportunity to change that, as the Lakers are looking to him to provide consistent perimeter shooting.

Black struggled from behind the three-point line, going 1-of-7 from behind the arc, but was 7-of-13 otherwise and finished with 21 points in Saturday’s win over the Jazz. While the 22-year-old shooting guard could be headed back to the bench soon with Franz Wagner (ankle) close to returning, he’s delivered for fantasy managers lately. Black has provided second-round per game value over the last two weeks, according to Basketball Monster.

Bane has now scored at least 22 points in five of his last six games. The 27-year-old shooting guard has gone a little cold from behind the three point line, shooting just 25 percent from behind the arc over the last four games. The Magic improved to 6-0 on the season when Banchero, Desmond Bane and Anthony Black all have at least 20 points. They needed every bit of it to squeak by a Jazz team that rested its starters in the fourth quarter. Banchero was excellent, though, with 23 points, a full stat line and two three-pointers. In the first six games he played afer returning from a strained adductor, Vassell averaged 10.7 points on 40.6 percent shooting from the field. Saturday’s performance was his best since the injury, with the Spurs’ wing also providing solid value in the rebound and assist categories. San Antonio’s Week 17 starts with games on Tuesday and Wednesday, so Vassell managers may only get three games out of him instead of four.

While he took a back seat to Stephon Castle on Saturday, Wembanyama was still impactful on both ends of the floor. The three blocks don’t do the third-year center justice, as there were other occasions when Mavericks players passed up shots because of Wemby’s presence. With Saturday’s game not being as close as the 138-125 final score would indicate, the Spurs only needed to play Wembanyama 27 minutes.

The second meeting in three days between the Mavericks and Spurs was dominated by Castle, who made some history. The second-year guard became the first player in franchise history to record a 40-point triple-double with points, rebounds and assists. Castle joins David Robinson as Spurs players with a 40-point triple-double; The Admiral recorded his with points, rebounds and blocks. After coming off the bench in Wednesday’s win over the Thunder, Barnes was back in the starting lineup Thursday night, with Stephon Castle coming off the bench. The veteran forward made the most of his opportunities, shooting 5-of-7 from three. And the 19 points were the most in a game for Barnes since he scored 20 in a December 23 win over Oklahoma City. He isn’t worth the risk in most fantasy leagues, but Barnes is still capable of coming through with a good night every so often.

After sitting out Sunday’s win over the Magic with an adductor injury, Castle played both games of the Spurs’ back-to-back. However, his minutes were limited, with the reigning Rookie of the Year coming off the bench and playing 21 on Thursday. Castle started Wednesday’s win over the Thunder and logged 26 minutes. After logging 28 minutes in Wednesday’s win over the Thunder, Wembanyama played 34 on Thursday. That’s the highest minutes tally for him since returning from the knee injury that cost him two games at the start of January. Even if the Spurs look to keep Wembanyama’s minutes “in check,” he doesn’t need much time to put up a robust stat line. Bane’s contributions on the offensive end played a big factor in Orlando ending its four-game losing streak on Wednesday. He made shots efficiently from behind the three-point line as well as inside it, while his contributions as a passer led him to finish as one of the Magic’s leaders in assists on the evening. Bane didn’t get to the free-throw line in this game and also failed to make much of an impact on the glass. However, his passing and production as a scorer were enough to land him a nice final line.

Black was exceptional on Wednesday evening against the Heat. Offensively, he shot the ball with great accuracy, leading him to finish as one of three Magic players to score at least 20 points. Black had a fairly balanced performance in Monday’s rematch with the Cavaliers. In 37 minutes, he was impactful on the defensive end and totaled four stocks, while inefficient shooting from beyond the arc limited his scoring production. Still, the third-year guard out of Arkansas finished as one of three Orlando players to score in double figures, and he was one of the team’s best passers in the loss. Bane followed Saturday’s 20-point performance in a loss to Cleveland with similar production on Monday. The first-year Magic guard was productive from beyond the arc and, in his 38 minutes, finished as the Magic’s second-leading scorer for the game. Yet Bane went without an assist for the first time all season, and with his unspectacular assist total and pair of stocks, he didn’t provide fantasy managers with much production. Orlando’s marquee offseason addition, Bane has been a consistent scoring threat, averaging 18.9 points through 44 games in his Magic debut.
