Vassell has snapped out of his recent mini-slump, scoring 45 points across his last two appearances. Over the past two weeks, he has been a top-60 player in nine-cat formats, by far the Spurs’ most valuable option in category leagues. However, with the Spurs officially eliminated from postseason contention, it’s fair to wonder if Vassell’s minutes will decrease during the season’s final week. If so, that would be bad news for Vassell managers whose leagues will be active.

Castle has scored 22 points in four of his last seven appearances, including Sunday’s performance. However, efficiency remains an issue, with the rookie shooting 40.5 percent from the field over the past two weeks. Add in an average of three turnovers per game and limited defensive production, and Castle is ranked well outside the top-150 in eight- and nine-cat formats. That said, Castle is worth the risk despite those issues since his availability is not an issue.

Vassell missed Wednesday’s game against the Nuggets with an ankle injury, but returned Friday and played 36 minutes. He appeared to show no ill effects as he poured in 24 points on 18 shots including six made three-pointers. Vassell also added three steals on the defensive end. He’s a productive player when available, though the Spurs could look to cut his playing time as they look ahead to the draft.

Castle just missed a triple-double for the second consecutive game Friday against the Cavaliers. The 20-year-old shooting guard was just one rebound away from a triple-double after he finished just one assist away from a triple-double Wednesday against the Nuggets. Even without the triple-doubles, Castle is still putting up impressive outings as he pushes for the Rookie of the Year Award. He’s also turned the ball over just four times in his last two games after turning the ball over seven times against the Magic Tuesday.

The 32-year-old small forward has moved up the pecking order on offense due to the multitude of injuries that the Spurs have had to deal with, which included Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan and Keldon Johnson on against Denver. He has put together two consecutive strong performances, and he should continue to be a top scoring option for San Antonio. And with his coach saying he does not believe the third-year forward will travel to Denver, fantasy managers can assume Sochan will not play on Wednesday. Despite the Spurs losing four straight games and careering toward the draft lottery, Paul continues to plug along as the starting point guard. The 39-year-old recorded a complete stat line on Tuesday, with the three steals being the most he’s had in a game since before the All-Star break. Over the past two weeks, Paul has been a top-100 player in eight-cat formats while sitting just outside that threshold in nine-cat. Back-to-backs have not been an issue, so expect to see Paul on the court Wednesday night in Denver.

Caldwell-Pope is on a heater from deep, having shot 10-of-12 from beyond the arc in his last two games. Tuesday’s three-point tally of seven was a season-high, surpassing the six he made in a November 27 win over the Bulls. The issue is that Caldwell-Pope does not provide much value outside of points and three-pointers; he’s a liability in fantasy leagues when those shots aren’t falling. Over the past two weeks, KCP has provided 10th-round value in nine-cat formats, four rounds better than his season-long production.

Averaging 23.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, Franz has provided sixth-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. The issue for fantasy managers has been the lackluster defensive production, with Wagner averaging 0.5 steals and 0.1 blocked shots. However, this isn’t a massive deal for category league managers who receive solid output from other players in those categories.

He played 10 minutes, but his return meant no room in the rotation for Bismack Biyombo, who picked up a DNP-CD. Following the game, Bassey said that he still wasn’t feeling right. “I just want to play with these guys, man,” Bassey said. “My family, my friends, people in my circle, know who I am as a person. They know I want to get back and play, even though I’m not feeling right.” Fantasy managers should not expect much from Bassey the rest of the way, especially with San Antonio’s four-game Week 22 starting with a Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back.

Also, he managed to provide some value in the rebound and assist categories. However, Saturday’s performance is insufficient to make Houstan a player worth targeting. However, even with the increased scoring output, Carter remains a player who cannot be trusted in 12-team leagues. Over the past two weeks, he’s ranked outside the top 200 in eight- and nine-cat formats. Backup Goga Bitadze (12/10/5/1/1 in 18 minutes) has been better, but his overall fantasy value hasn’t been much to brag about. With Orlando’s three-game Week 22 ending on Thursday, there isn’t much to gain from rostering either in standard leagues.
