According to Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic, Murray-Boyles is progressing in his recovery from a strained right forearm muscle but is not ready to make his official Raptors debut. Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jonathan Mogbo will continue to handle most of the available reserve frontcourt minutes in Murray-Boyles’ absence.

Not long after Walter was announced as probable, Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic revealed that the second-year wing will play Friday night. Walter’s return from an illness that sidelined him for the opener means Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji may play fewer minutes after logging 24 and 20, respectively, on Wednesday.

Walter, who sat out Wednesday’s season-opening win over the Hawks, is on track to make his first appearance of the 2025-26 season. His return may result in fewer minutes for fellow reserves Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji, but the former scored 21 points in 24 minutes against Atlanta.

The rookie will have a chance to make his regular season debut against Milwaukee. In the season opener, Jonathan Mogbo and Sandro Mamukelashvili filled out most of the reserve post minutes, though the lopsided score altered the rotation. CMB should play a significant backup role and cut into the minutes of Mogbo and Mamu if he’s available.

Walter missed the season opener, and there is a chance he remains sidelined for another game. Gradey Dick had 21 points in 24 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, while Ochai Agbaji played 20 minutes. Both would continue to play a large role if Walter remains out.

Porter Jr. struggled in his regular season debut with his new team after an offseason trade from the Nuggets. The 27-year-old power forward is still trending up as a fantasy asset, though. Porter Jr. led the Nets in shot attempts with 15 in just 25 minutes of play. He also had five assists. So while Porter Jr. didn’t shoot the ball well, he still took the most shots on the team and wasn’t hogging the ball with five assists in 25 minutes. There will be better nights in the future for Porter Jr.

Ja’Kobe Walter’s absence due to an illness freed up additional minutes for Toronto’s reserve wings, and Gradey took advantage. Interestingly, he attempted twice as many free throws (eight) as three-pointers (four), which rarely happened last season. Gradey averaged 6.0 three-point and 2.9 free-throw attempts per game last season and had just two games in which he attempted at least eight free throws. Due to those stats, nights like Wednesday may not become the norm for Gradey. However, the Raptors will benefit if he can remain as aggressive as he was against the Hawks.

Ingram was solid in his official Raptors debut, but the turnover count (five) was likely too high for his liking. While there may be some concerns that Toronto is a little too heavy on wing scorers, everyone worked well together against the Hawks, with the Raptors putting up 138 points. Ingram has top-50 fantasy value potential; his concern is availability. Therefore, BI playing 27 minutes without issue may be more important than his points and rebounds.

Rarely a positive fantasy asset during his NBA career, Barrett was excellent in Wednesday’s season opener. He shot 75 percent from the field, made all five of his free throws and provided solid value across the board. Barrett’s track record means more evidence will be required to believe in him as a fantasy asset. However, Wednesday’s performance was excellent. If Barrett can build on this performance, the high ADP will be justified.

After struggling for most of the preseason, Barnes finished with a flourish by scoring 31 points in Friday’s win over the Nets. He carried that momentum into Wednesday’s opener, playing efficiently in the Raptors’ 20-point beating of the Hawks. Barnes did not attempt a three-pointer against Atlanta; instead, he did most of his damage in the paint. Of his nine made field goals, seven occurred in the paint. That will be the recipe for Barnes, who already brings so much to the table as a defender and playmaker. Fewer three-point attempts should boost his overall field-goal percentage, which would be good news for those with Barnes rostered.

Poeltl, who exited Friday’s preseason finale with lower back stiffness, is available and will take on his usual starting center role Wednesday night. Also of note is Ingram, who will play his first regular-season game since December 7. Sidelined by a high ankle sprain, the former Pelicans wing was healthy during the preseason and played well.

The Nets used all five of their first-round picks in June’s draft, but Saraf is the only rookie to have cracked the starting five for opening night. He outplayed Nolan Traoré during the preseason and Egor Dëmin was out due to injury, so Wednesday’s lineup is unsurprising. Dëmin will be on a minutes restriction, but he will play. The other four starters were expected, with Mann and Porter making their official Nets debuts.

Added to the injury report Wednesday afternoon, Wolf has been downgraded from questionable to out. With Noah Clowney and Day’Ron Sharpe available off the bench, Wolf’s opportunities would have been limited if he were healthy enough to play. He isn’t worth rostering in redraft leagues right now, but there may come a point later in the season when Wolf offers tangible fantasy value.

Absent from the initial injury report, Wolf is now questionable with a sprained left ankle. With the Nets embarking on a rebuild, there will be opportunities for the first-round pick out of Michigan to contribute, but that may not happen in the season opener. Wolf isn’t a must-roster player in fantasy leagues, but he’s worth tracking for “silly season” purposes.

Two days after being waived by the Raptors, Lawson has returned to the franchise on a two-way deal. In three NBA seasons, the 6-foot-6 wing has appeared in 83 games, including 26 for the Raptors last season. He’ll likely see most of his playing time with the Raptors’ G League affiliate, which would not impact fantasy basketball.

Williams continues to come off the bench exclusively after mostly starting for the Nets last season. The 24-year-old forward played more minutes than starter Terance Mann 28-to-23 on Friday, though. Williams continues to show improved shooting this preseason with another four three-pointers against the Raptors. If Williams has a path to fantasy value this year, it might be as a sharpshooting bench player for teams that only need scoring and threes.

Quickley’s 10 assists were a preseason-high. The 26-year-old point guard has now made at least five three-pointers in two of his last three preseason games. Quickley played 34 minutes Friday as the Raptors get closer to the end of the preseason. After playing an abbreviated season last year due to injury, Quickley is once against being counted on heavily by the Raptors and could be undervalued in fantasy drafts due to the previous injury.

Barnes had just seven points on 13 shots against the Celtics on Wednesday. He bounced back in a major way against the Nets on Friday with 31 points on 15 attempts. Barnes also got to the free throw line 12 times and made 11 attempts. The 24-year-old small forward put his fantasy managers at ease for now with a much better shooting night after going 6-of-30 from the field to begin the preseason.

Porter Jr. had scored 13, 13 and 15 points in the other three Nets preseason games, but was clearly a primary weapon in Brooklyn’s offense. The 27-year-old power forward had his shot working on Friday and dropped 34 points on the Raptors. Porter Jr.'s fantasy value appears to be benefiting from the offseason trade from the Nuggets. He’s certainly going to have some games like this during the regular season.

Appearing in his second game of the preseason, Poeltl played 24 minutes before exiting with lower back stiffness. This is the same issue that sidelined the Raptors’ starting center for the beginning of the preseason, with Poeltl not making his debut until Wednesday night against the Celtics. He’ll have a few days to recover for the start of the regular season, as the Raptors don’t open until October 22. If Poeltl cannot play, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jonathan Mogbo should see their playing time increase.

Murray-Boyles injured his right elbow during Toronto’s October 10 exhibition against the Celtics and has not played since. While the rookie will not play on Friday, there’s hope that he’ll be good to go for the Raptors’ regular-season opener on October 22. Murray-Boyles’ defensive versatility should get him into the rotation once healthy, but he may not significantly impact fantasy basketball early on.

It has been a rough preseason for Barnes, and that continued on Wednesday. He has shot 6-of-30 from the floor through three preseason outings, though there shouldn’t be much concern at this point, since these are only exhibition games. Though it’s just the preseason, Ingram’s tenure as a Raptor has gotten off to a strong start. After a lost season in New Orleans where he only played 18 games, Ingram can bounce back in a big way, as long as he is able to remain healthy. Sarr’s production wasn’t off the charts, but he hit the most important shot of the game. Down 112-111 with 0.8 seconds left on the clock, Sarr caught an alley-oop inbounds pass from Jared Rhoden and laid it up for the game-winning bucket at the buzzer. Quickley led Toronto in the scoring department thanks in large part to his five made three-pointers. IQ logged just 33 appearances a season ago, and fantasy managers will hope for a healthier season when selecting him on draft day. He profiles as a mid-round selection, likely becoming a viable pick around the fifth or sixth round in most standard drafts.

After sitting all five expected starters in Friday’s win over the Celtics, the Raptors will have Quickley, Barrett and Barnes on the court Sunday afternoon. Jakob Poeltl remains out and Brandon Ingram will miss a second straight game, resulting in starts for Walter and Mamukelashvili. While the latter is essentially guaranteed a spot in the Raptors’ regular-season rotation, Walter could use a good effort on Sunday to help separate from the pack among Toronto’s surplus of reserve wings.

One of Brooklyn’s five first-round picks in June’s draft, Wolf did not see his first action on Sunday until the fourth quarter. He made the most of his opportunity, combining with Tyrese Martin (11 points, one rebound, one block and two three-pointers) to help the Nets rally for the 111-109 victory. Given the number of young players at head coach Jordi Fernandez’s disposal, Wolf is in a tough spot regarding early-season fantasy relevance. However, that’s likely to change as the season wears on, especially with Nets owner Joe Tsai saying recently that the team’s priority is to secure a good pick in the 2026 draft.

After starting 45 of the 63 games he played for the Nets last season, Williams has been used exclusively in a reserve role during the preseason. On Sunday, he shot 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, a positive development for a player who’s just a 31.6 percent three-point shooter for his career. During his career-best 2024-25 campaign, however, Williams did shoot 34.1 percent on 4.8 attempts per game. Terance Mann (7/1/0/1/1 with one three-pointer) has started each of Brooklyn’s three preseason games, and unless that changes, Williams won’t be worth the risk in fantasy leagues, at least to begin the season.

Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez stuck with the same point guard rotation for the team’s second game in China, starting Nolan Traoré with Saraf coming off the bench. And once again, the latter was more effective and played more minutes. Traoré played 17 minutes, finishing with four points (2-of-5 FGs), two rebounds, three assists and four turnovers. It’s difficult to truly gauge the Nets’ point guard competition with Egor Dëmin (foot) unavailable, making it difficult to fully trust any of the three rookies with a draft pick in redraft leagues. However, Saraf may be more worthy of a roll of the dice based on how he played in China compared to Traoré.

Toronto rested its entire starting lineup for Friday’s exhibition game. While that did not result in Hepburn moving into the starting five, it did free up additional minutes for him off the bench. And the two-way contract player out of Louisville took full advantage, helping spark a fourth-quarter rally that turned a 10-point deficit into a two-point victory. Hepburn is not someone to consider in redraft leagues. Still, the defensive intensity and the success of Toronto’s G League program make him an intriguing late-round option in dynasty drafts.

Gradey was not part of the Raptors’ fourth-quarter rally, which was capped by a Jonathan Mogbo (8/5/3/1) layup in the final seconds. However, the third-year wing was excellent while on the court. Gradey shot the ball well from the field and was an active rebounder, which is what he’ll need to do to carve out a consistent role for himself when the starters are available. The Raptors rested their usual starters for Friday’s game, resulting in more opportunities for Gradey and the others. He isn’t a player worth drafting, but there may be streaming opportunities throughout the season, especially considering Brandon Ingram’s injury history.

Murray-Boyles, inserted into the Raptors’ starting lineup for Friday’s game, suffered a right elbow contusion during the first quarter and did not return. The lottery pick only played eight minutes, finishing with four points (2-of-3 FGs), one rebound and one assist. The Raptors don’t open the regular season until October 22; hopefully, that’s enough time for Murray-Boyles to get back to full strength. Toronto’s projected starters are resting, so the team’s second unit will start Friday’s preseason home opener. Murray-Boyles, the Raptors’ first-round pick in June’s draft, can play power forward or center, which can also be said for Mamukelashvili. As for the fill-ins on the perimeter, all three can use solid performances to strengthen their chances of playing consistent rotation minutes when the regular season begins.

With Egor Dëmin unavailable due to a plantar fascia tear, Traoré and fellow rookie Ben Saraf have made up the point guard rotation for the Nets’ first two preseason games. After Safar received the starting nod in Brooklyn’s opener, Traoré was part of the first unit on Friday. Both provided limited production, with Saraf (9/1/0/1) logging 19 minutes and Traoré 17. There’s no sugarcoating the fact that the 2024-25 season was a disappointment for Claxton, who started slowly and finished with decreased averages in points, rebounds and blocked shots. With this being the second year of the four-year deal he signed in the summer of 2024, maybe some of the pressure will be off of Claxton, especially with it being understood that the Nets are rebuilding. He remains a superior option for managers willing to punt on free-throw percentage, but the rebounds and blocked shots need to improve after they dipped last season.

Porter has scored 13 points in both of Brooklyn’s preseason games, but he’s been a prominent figure within Jordi Fernandez’s offense. His role will remain prominent due to Brooklyn’s lack of proven scorers, with the most significant concern being that MPJ’s playing time could decrease during the latter stages of the regular season. Porter’s new role in his new home makes him worth the risk for fantasy managers, especially those competing in points leagues.

With Thomas deciding in early September to sign his one-year qualifying offer, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent next summer. While the Nets guard’s scoring ability has rarely been questioned, his ability to make things happen for his teammates has been up for debate. Making strides in that regard would go a long way toward ensuring Thomas gets the lucrative payday he desires. With the Nets embarking on a rebuild, should fantasy managers be concerned about a potential shutdown later in the season? That’s certainly something to consider, but Thomas’ opportunity will raise his ceiling, at least until the trade deadline.
