Green is set to make his season debut after undergoing left shoulder surgery in June. Given the time missed, his minutes are likely to be restricted for conditioning reasons. When healthy, Green is a solid defender who does not offer much fantasy value on the offensive end of the floor. He’s worth watching, but should not be considered a must-add, especially with the Hornets adding Kon Knueppel, Sion James and Liam McNeeley via last June’s draft.

Ingram starred for Toronto, but it wasn’t enough to get the win. This was his second straight 30-point game and his third of the season. Ingram has bounced back after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign in which he only played 18 games. His tenure in New Orleans was limited by injuries, but his start as a Raptor has them in the playoff race. He’ll remain an offensive star for them, which will continue to lead to strong fantasy contributions.

Walter had been starting with RJ Barrett (knee) sidelined, but he was replaced by Ochai Agbaji for this game. However, he fared much better as a reserve than Agbaji did as a starter. Walter still isn’t worth rostering in standard leagues, but he made his case to return to the starting lineup. It’s unclear if that will happen, and even if it does, Walter should be left on the waiver wire.

With Immanuel Quickley (illness) sidelined, Shead got the starting nod for the first time this season. In the increased opportunity, Shead was able to set a new season high for scoring and reached eight assists for the fifth time this season. Shead is more than capable of making an impact in fantasy basketball when he gets the chance to start, but it is unlikely that Quickley remains sidelined until Monday’s game against the Heat.

McNeeley enjoyed his best outing of the season on Sunday, recording new highs in points and three-pointers. The rookie wing hit three triples in the first half, giving the Hornets a welcome spark off the bench. Unfortunately, McNeeley suffered a left quad contusion during the second half, spending some time on the sideline with a heating pad on his thigh. With LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton unavailable due to injury, Bridges spent more time on the ball as a playmaker on Sunday. That factored into him dishing out a season-high eight assists, finishing two helpers and a rebound shy of a triple-double. Sunday’s performance occurred at a good time for Bridges and those who have him rostered, as he’s ranked outside the top-200 in nine-cat per-game value over the past two weeks. He’ll look to build on Sunday’s showing in Week 8, with the Hornets playing on Friday and Sunday.

Miller had a rough night inside the arc, making just one of his nine two-point attempts. However, a respectable 40 percent mark from three boosted his point total, and he did finish with a complete stat line. The five assists were the most he’s recorded in a game since the season opener, when Miller dished out seven helpers against the Nets. Staying healthy has been an issue for him this season, so the extra time off due to the NBA Cup may benefit Miller. Charlotte plays games on Friday and Sunday during Week 8.

With the Hornets being down multiple point guards, most notably starter LaMelo Ball, Simpson made his first start of the season on Sunday. While he finished with a respectable stat line, the assist category was lacking. Brandon Miller and Miles Bridges spent more time on the ball, which helped them combine to dish out 13 assists. Finishing two assists shy of a triple-double, Barnes recorded his 12th double-double of the season on Sunday. He continues to provide first-round value in 12-team, nine-cat formats while sitting a few spots outside of that threshold in eight-cat. He’ll look to help the Raptors advance to the NBA Cup semifinals in Las Vegas when they host the Knicks on Tuesday.

Coming off of his worst offensive performance of the season in Friday’s loss to the Hornets, Ingram bounced back nicely on Sunday. He recorded his second 30-point game of the season and shot 55 percent from the field. While Ingram didn’t record any defensive stats, that isn’t a departure from the norm for him. He’s been consistently productive on offense and remained available, which has been great for him, the Raptors and fantasy managers. Toronto will play at least one game in Week 8, hosting the Knicks in an NBA Cup quarterfinal on Tuesday.

The Hornets are without LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton for Sunday’s game, so Simpson has received the starting nod. Ingram’s worst game of the season represented Toronto’s struggles in this game. He scored less than 10 points for the first time this season, and they’ve now lost four of their last five games, including twice to the Hornets. While Walter entered Thursday having started four of Toronto’s previous five games due to RJ Barrett’s knee injury, he hadn’t taken advantage of the opportunity. The one double-digit scoring effort in that run occurred in the game that the second-year guard did not start, and he averaged 6.6 points on 36.4 percent shooting. Ingram had a difficult night from beyond the arc, missing all five of his three-point attempts in the 123-120 defeat. However, he shot well over 50 percent from two, preserving the overall field-goal percentage, and the rebounds and assists were also helpful to fantasy managers.
