During Wednesday’s loss to the Grizzlies, Collins sprained his left ankle, and Utah’s announcement means he’ll miss at least eight games. KJ Martin has been the replacement in the starting lineup when Collins hasn’t been available, and this should not change. However, Collins’ absence also raises Kyle Filipowski’s ceiling, as he has been relegated to the bench whenever Walker Kessler is available. Filipowski offers a higher ceiling than Martin, who boasts the higher floor.

In an unfortunate development for fantasy managers hoping to benefit from Rhoden’s career night against the 76ers on Wednesday, he’s been sent to the G League. The Raptors guard has a limited number of games available as a two-way player, so he’ll spend the weekend with the franchise’s G League affiliate. Rhoden will not be available for games against the Jazz on Friday and Trail Blazers on Sunday.

Both players were out against Philadelphia on Wednesday but will be back against the Jazz. Jakob Poeltl will be getting the rest night against Utah, but it is worth noting that Poeltl only played 17 minutes despite being available on Wednesday. It wouldn’t be surprising if Quickley and Barrett received the same treatment. Still, they should be part of the starting lineup, which would likely push Jamal Shead and Jamison Battle to the bench.

Poeltl will get the night off against the tanking Jazz, and this game is an important one for Toronto to lose if they want to improve their lottery odds. Poeltl only played 17 minutes in their last game, so even when he is playing, he may not actually see typical starter minutes. Orlando Robinson and Colin Castleton should fill out the center minutes in place of Poeltl. Robinson (25/12/6) shined against Philadelphia on Wednesday, but Castleton was also productive and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Sportsnet’s Michael Grange also reported that Walter has a Grade 2 strain in his quad/hip area that could keep him out for a month. The regular season will end on April 13, which means that there is a real chance that Walter’s rookie year is over. Jared Rhoden started in place of Walter on Monday with Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji still sidelined as well. Rhoden had 11 points in 26 minutes, but it was AJ Lawson that really stepped up, as he had 32 points, 12 rebounds and seven three-pointers off the bench. Lawson, who is still on a two-way contract, has played at least 26 minutes in four straight games. His 32 points are by far his highest mark this season. Of Lawson’s nine makes, seven of them came from behind the three-point line. Barnes has now had a double-double in three of the last four games. His assist numbers have taken a hit over the last few weeks as Barnes hasn’t had at least seven assists in a game since February 12. Barrett sat out last Friday with rest as the Raptors are looking ahead to this year’s draft. The 24-year-old small forward was back on the floor Monday and finished just two assists shy of a triple-double. Barrett wasn’t efficient on offense, but he still created well for his teammates. He showed he was healthy Monday and with Keyonte George (foot) and Jordan Clarkson (foot) both out, the 26-year-old shooting guard had a big game. Collins returned after missing the last five games with a back injury. The 27-year-old power forward scored 28 points, but was hardly efficient taking 30 shots with the Jazz missing multiple starters. Agbaji injured his ankle on February 28, and it’s unknown when he’ll be cleared to play in games again. While Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said the third-year forward is progressing in his recovery, he has not been cleared for contact. Also, the Raptors will ramp up Agbaji’s activity slowly, so there’s a chance he won’t be healthy in time to impact the end of the fantasy basketball season. Collier has hit double figures in assists on 11 occasions since moving into the Jazz starting lineup in early January. While the seven turnovers he committed on Sunday were suboptimal, the rookie has been one of the few bright spots for the Jazz this season. Collier’s fantasy value remains low, but he’s a must-roster player for the rest of the season, especially for managers who can afford to take the occasional hit in the turnover category.

George has scored at least 25 points in two of his last four games, so the scoring output has been there. However, it’s fair to wonder what his long-term role will be in Utah, especially with rookie Isaiah Collier continuing to serve as the starting point guard. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Filipowski has been consistently productive since the All-Star break. A double-digit scorer in six straight and eight of Utah’s 10 post-break games, the rookie is ranked just outside the top 100 in eight-cat formats. Filipowski’s defensive production has been lackluster most nights, but he accumulated three steals on Sunday. He’s rostered in 35 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and that figure should increase ahead of Utah’s four-game Week 19.

UTA • Shooting Guard • #33

Juzang has started six of Utah’s last eight games, but the offensive production hasn’t been there on most occasions. Sunday’s defeat was the second time he’s reached double figures in those six starts, and the seven rebounds were a nice bonus. However, the inconsistency makes Juzang little more than a dart throw in deep leagues. That may change if the Jazz decide to shut down their veterans completely, but even that isn’t guaranteed. Shead had a solid performance in this one, but he’ll be most remembered for his play in the closing seconds. With just over two seconds left, Shead nearly cost his team the ball by shuffling his feet as the inbounder. He went from hero to goat almost instantly by hitting a would-be game-winning shot at the buzzer, but a review from the refs showed that his fingertips were still on the ball while the clock read triple zeroes. George didn’t have a great night shooting the basketball, going 4-of-14 from the field, but fantasy managers were likely pleased with the rebounds and assists. Outside of three-pointers, Barnes filled the stat sheet Friday night. Over the past two weeks, the Raptors star has provided third-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. With the Raptors prioritizing player development, the concern for fantasy managers is there may come a point when the team decides to give Barnes some time off. Hopefully, that won’t happen until the fantasy playoffs run their course. At a minimum, back-to-backs (the Raptors host the Wizards on Saturday) may be an issue in the short term.
