McDaniels hasn’t missed a game yet this season and didn’t miss one last year. If that streak ends, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch has multiple options to bump into the starting lineup. It could be a smaller starting lineup with Jaylen Clark or Mike Conley filling in. It could be a bigger lineup with Naz Reid joining. It’s unclear what he’ll do, since it has been so long since McDaniels missed a game.

Reid came out of the gate on fire, knocking down 8-of-11 from the floor to finish the first half with a game-high 19 points off the bench and notch his third double-double of the season. He finished with a season-high 22 points, needing just 22 minutes to accomplish the feat. The Timberwolves are back in action when they face the rebuilding Wizards on Wednesday night.

Gobert delivered a stat sheet-stuffing effort as Minnesota built up a 32-point advantage by the outset of the fourth quarter, which enabled him to sit out the final stanza for some extra rest. He did most of his damage in the third quarter where he poured in a team-high nine points, knocking down four of his five shot attempts during that span. He’s averaging 10.7 points and 9.6 rebounds through 14 games.

Edwards was able to sit out the entire fourth quarter for some extra rest after Minnesota raced out to a 32-point lead by the end of three quarters. He picked an ideal spot to have an off-night from a shooting standpoint, going just 1-of-7 from three-point range, as his teammates provided more than enough offensive support.

Despite coming off the bench in each of his last four appearances, Collier has provided solid value to managers needing assists. He’s recorded seven helpers or more in four straight games and was a key factor in Sunday’s double-overtime victory. Collier and Brice Sensabaugh (16/6/1/1 with four three-pointers) played well enough to be part of Will Hardy’s closing lineup, with the former ramping up the pace and the latter providing valuable three-point shooting. Collier’s return from a hamstring injury has also impacted Walter Clayton Jr., who picked up a second straight DNP-CD on Sunday.

After not appearing in Utah’s first five games, Love has hit double figures in minutes in each of his last three appearances. He was productive against the Bulls, hitting double figures and finishing two rebounds shy of a double-double. Love is not in a position where he needs to be considered for any fantasy roster, even after Walker Kessler was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Managers needing production are better off gambling on Jusuf Nurkić, who tallied four points, 14 rebounds, five assists, three steals and one blocked shot in 38 minutes.

The Jazz guard knocked down a three with eight-tenths of a second remaining in double overtime to give Utah the 150-147 victory. It was a rough shooting night for Edwards, but he was able to redeem his night with some late buckets, which allowed him to tie Julius Randle as the leading scorers for Minnesota. He also made an impact in a variety of other ways despite his shot night falling, which is why he was a first-round pick once again this season. Edwards’ shooting percentages are actually up this season after they took a hit last year due to an uptick in three-point volume. Subpar shooting nights like this won’t happen often; this was his worst field goal percentage in a game this year.

Randle has been a scoring machine for Minnesota lately, which continued in this game. This was the third game in a row that he’s scored at least 25 points, which is a mark he has reached eight times this year. Last season, he only had 12 such games. Randle is having arguably the best season of his career. He’s averaging career-highs in points, assists and steals while shooting the best percentage of his career from the floor and the free throw line while also averaging the fewest turnovers per game since his last year as a Laker. It has been a fantastic start to the season, and while it feels unlikely that he can continue to play this well, he’ll be one of the best value picks in fantasy basketball if he does.

Reid played a season-high 35 minutes, which led to him nearly matching his season-high of 21 points. If he didn’t foul out, he may have been able to. Markkanen got off to a scorching-hot start to this game, scoring 25 points in just the first half. He was still effective after the break as well, but it wasn’t enough for the Jazz to get the win. It has been an excellent year for Markkanen, which has been great to see after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign. After a dramatic dip in scoring and shooting percentage, Markkanen is back to playing at an All-Star level. This 40-point performance was the second time he has eclipsed that threshold this season, with the first coming in his season-best 51-point night in October. Utah is likely heading back to the lottery, but Markkanen’s early success is a good thing for the future of the Jazz. Whether he’s used as a trade piece to bring back more draft capital or to help them turn into a competitive team next season, Markkanen playing well and increasing his trade value will help the Jazz long term.

Coming off the bench for the second straight game, Collier was excellent in his 26 minutes. Not only did the second-year guard record his first double-double of the season, but he also committed only two turnovers. Collier’s ability to get others involved is what gives him value in deeper fantasy leagues, even if he continues to come off the bench. On Tuesday, he picked up the slack for starter Keyonte George (10/5/7), who shot 3-of-12 from the field. Given how well George has played overall, the starting point guard job should be his for the foreseeable future. However, as evidenced by Tuesday’s performance, that does not prohibit Collier from providing reliable fantasy value.

Finishing with his fourth double-double of the season, Gobert had one of his best performances of the season on Sunday. Not only did he shoot 90 percent from the field, but the Timberwolves center recorded a season-high five blocked shots. Thus far, Gobert’s fantasy value has been underwhelming, mainly because he’s averaging 9.9 rebounds per game. While that isn’t a “bad” number, he averaged at least 10.9 boards in seven straight and nine of his previous 10 seasons. After recording one triple-double in the previous three seasons combined, Randle has two in Minnesota’s first nine games of the 2025-26 campaign. He was responsible for seven turnovers on Friday, but this was the first game in which the Timberwolves’ forward had surpassed five. High-turnover nights of this caliber are unlikely to become the norm for Randle, so there’s no need for anyone to be concerned. McDaniels has scored 20 points or more in four of Minnesota’s nine games, and he’s off to the best start of his NBA career. The 6-foot-9 wing is averaging 18.3 points per game, which would be the best of his career by more than six points (12.2 ppg last season). And he’s doing this while shooting nearly 54 percent from the field. McDaniels is providing top-50 value in nine-cat formats, and some may be tempted to sell high, especially with Anthony Edwards back from a hamstring injury.
