Markkanen will miss an eighth straight game, and there’s no telling when he’ll make his return. Jaden Springer is also dealing with a back issue, so he’ll sit this one out as well. The Jazz are sitting most of their starters and a number of key role players in a matchup with Philadelphia that could do down as one of the most star-studded events of the season. Brice Sensabaugh and Johnny Juzang should see increased playing time for as long as Markkanen is out.

Kessler grabbed a career-best 25 rebounds in Friday’s loss to Toronto, but the tanking Jazz will keep him on the sideline against an equally tanky Sixers squad. With Collins still nursing a back injury, Utah could employ KJ Martin and Kyle Filipowski as the starting frontcourt, as they did the last two games in which both Kessler and Collins were out.

With Walker Kessler in the starting lineup, Filipowski was used in a reserve role Friday night. The good news for fantasy managers is that the change did not prohibit him from providing solid fantasy value. Filipowski shot 70 percent from the field and grabbed five rebounds, and the two steals were a nice bonus for those who have him in their lineups. Rostered in 32 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he’s worth holding onto for the rest of the season.

George didn’t have a great night shooting the basketball, going 4-of-14 from the field, but fantasy managers were likely pleased with the rebounds and assists. While the Jazz have limited the minutes of their key veterans as the season winds down, George doesn’t qualify. As a result, he’s still playing over 30 minutes per game despite coming off the bench. Unfortunately, poor shooting and limited defensive production continue to weigh down his fantasy value.

Kessler was fantastic on Friday, establishing new career highs in rebounds and blocked shots. The 7-foot-1 center accounted for 18 rebounds and three blocks in the first half alone. While the Raptors did more to keep Kessler off the glass after halftime, he still blocked another five shots. Only Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace have corralled more rebounds in a game as a Raptors opponent than Kessler, who has been a top-10 player in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks.

The availability of the Jazz veterans has been frustrating for fantasy managers, as it has wreaked havoc on rosters at this point in the season. Sexton was available Friday night but only played 24 minutes, as Isaiah Collier (six points, three rebounds, and six assists) and Keyonte George remain the Jazz’s priorities. While he certainly can’t be dropped, Sexton’s playing time could frustrate some fantasy managers as the regular season concludes.

Williamson shot a pedestrian 5-of-15 from the field, but he buoyed his scoring total by hitting 10-of-12 shots from the charity stripe. Murphy III got off to a blistering start, scoring 11 of New Orleans’ first 19 points. He opened the game by bullying Jalen Green for a monster jam and hitting a deep three-pointer. Regarding fantasy value, only Zion Williamson has been more productive than Murphy among Pelicans players since the All-Star break. While he did shoot 1-of-6 from three, Trey made 50 percent of his attempts from the field overall and provided solid value in the rebounds, assists and steals categories. Murphy has been ranked just outside the top-50 in eight-cat formats since the break, and his availability has not been a concern. Williamson was outstanding on Tuesday, surpassing the 30-point mark for the sixth time this season. He did so on efficient shooting, and fantasy managers likely benefitted from the six assists. Since the All-Star break, Williamson has provided top-50 value in eight-cat formats. If there’s a concern for fantasy managers, it’s that New Orleans ends Week 18 with a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back. Did the Pelicans view Olynyk as an excellent fit next to Zion Williamson and Yves Missi when they acquired him from the Raptors? If so, the front office deserves credit for getting him in the Brandon Ingram trade. Olynyk was excellent against the Jazz, scoring 26 points on efficient shooting. With Williamson and Missi on the court, there’s a need for a spacer in the Pelicans frontcourt, and Olynyk fits that role. Olynyk can provide reliable fantasy value as a starter for as long as he’s available.

Williamson still hasn’t reached the point where he’ll be allowed to play both games of back-to-backs, and there’s no need for the Pelicans to change that approach before the end of this season. After sitting out Friday’s loss to the Suns, McCollum made up for lost time on Sunday. Not only are the 25 points the most he’s scored since the All-Star break, but this was CJ’s first 20-point game since then. With Olynyk available after not playing on Thursday, he started while rookie Karlo Matkovic was pushed to the bench. The “Lunch Lady” had a solid night at the office, but this wasn’t the kind of performance that will force many fantasy managers to rush to their computers to add Olynyk. As for Matkovic, he shot 1-of-8 from the field and finished with two points, five rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes. While fantasy managers who may have hoped for a standout performance were left unfulfilled, the assists and steals were solid. Having the room needed to flourish offensively has been a rare occurrence for Missi this season. However, that wasn’t the case on Friday, as the Pelicans were without CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson. While Missi has remained in the starting lineup, his fantasy value took a slight hit, with Kelly Olynyk moving into the starting lineup and fellow rookie Karlo Matkovic playing better basketball.
