Markkanen made the most of an overall poor effort from the Jazz on Friday. The 28-year-old power forward only played 26 minutes in the 34-point loss to the Knicks, but still managed to put up 18 points and grab nine rebounds. The Jazz have another difficult matchup with the Thunder to close out Week 7 on Sunday.

The veteran center will return from a one-game absence to face the Knicks on Friday. He’s served as Utah’s starting center since Walker Kessler (shoulder) was lost for the season. Nurkić isn’t a high-end fantasy option but has double-double capabilities on a nightly basis. His return could send Kyle Filipowski back to the bench.

Nurkić missed Thursday’s game against the Nets with a rib injury with Kyle Filipowski replacing him in the starting lineup. Filipowski had 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the win over Brooklyn. If Nurkić is out again, Filipowski will likely start again and he just showed he has streaming value under these circumstances.

With Jusuf Nurkić (rib) unavailable, Filipowski made his first start since Halloween and sixth of the season on Thursday. All that was missing from the second-year center’s stat line was a blocked shot, but many fantasy managers will take what Filipowski did bring to the table. Rostered in 18 percent of Yahoo! leagues, his fantasy value in the short term hinges upon Nurkić’s availability. However, there’s likely to come a point later in the season when the Jazz prioritize getting young players like Filipowski even more minutes than they’re already playing.

While his name may not be mentioned very often in early Most Improved Player conversations, there’s no denying that George has made impressive strides after two uneven seasons in Utah. On Thursday, the guard recorded his third double-double of the season, and he only committed one turnover in 31 minutes of play. George is providing third-round value in eight-cat formats, well ahead of his Yahoo! ADP (116). Rostered in 79 percent of Yahoo! leagues, managers in shallow formats must ensure that George isn’t sitting on the waiver wire.

Markkanen has scored at least 30 points in nine games this season, including Thursday’s win over the Nets. Entering the season with a Yahoo! ADP of 56, the Jazz forward has been close to a top-25 player in eight-cat formats thus far. Of course, the possibility of a late-season shutdown is why Markkanen’s ADP took a hit. As a result, those who were willing to roll the dice were rewarded handsomely during the season’s first quarter. Markkanen should face more resistance on Friday when the Jazz visit the Knicks.

Due to a right rib contusion, starting center Jusuf Nurkić will not play on Thursday. His spot in the lineup will be filled by Filipowski, who is worth streaming. He should be most valuable later in the season, especially if the Jazz aren’t in contention for a postseason spot as many expect.

Thursday’s game is the first of two in as many nights for the Jazz, who visit the Knicks on Friday. No Nurkić means that Utah will have to rely more on Kyle Filipowski, possibly as a starter. If he receives the starting nod, Filipowski should be slotted into lineups in deeper leagues.

Monk has recorded three 20-point games in his last five appearances, with his fantasy ceiling being slightly higher than usual due to Dennis Schröder’s absence due to injury. Over the last four games, Monk has provided top-100 value in eight- and nine-cat formats. He’s still rostered in 22 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which may be a bit low due to the combination of his production and Schröder’s absence. However, the schedule does not work in Monk’s favor, as the Kings play only one more game in Week 7.

On a night when the Kings’ starters underwhelmed, Raynaud enjoyed his best game as a pro. Less than a week after scoring 19 points against the Jazz, the rookie center recorded his first 20-point game in Houston. While he may not be Domantas Sabonis’ replacement in the starting lineup, Raynaud has more opportunities to contribute with the veteran center sidelined. And his upside is superior to that of Drew Eubanks, who only played ten minutes on Wednesday. Raynaud isn’t a must-add just yet, but he deserves a look in deep leagues.

Nurkić flirted with a double-double for the second straight game against the Rockets. On the second night of a back-to-back, he was productive inside the arc as a scorer and set a new season-high in points before fouling out of the contest. Nurkic has filled in the starting unit nicely in place of the injured Walker Kessler (shoulder). He’s got double-double potential on a nightly basis in this new role.

After finishing with zero points on Sunday against the Rockets, George responded on the second night of a back-to-back by nearly putting 30 points on those same Rockets a day later. He shot well from the floor overall and also got back on track as a facilitator after a quiet previous game in that area. Six turnovers were arguably the only standout weakness of George’s on Monday’s outing. Otherwise, he put together a nice bounce-back game.

On the second night of a back-to-back, Markannen led the Jazz in points in the rematch with the Rockets. His scoring production was particularly notable on a night when the Jazz had seven players score in double figures, including all five starters. He was also effective on the glass, but ultimately came up two boards shy of a double-double. A quarter of the way into the season, Markkanen is averaging more points per game than he has in any other season — he’s been consistent on that end of the floor so far, which should remain the case moving forward.

Monk finished Sunday’s defeat one point shy of his season high, shooting just under 50 percent from the field. Even better for fantasy managers was the veteran guard recording a complete stat line, something he’s done on four other occasions this season. Rostered in 22 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Monk sits just outside the top-150 in nine-cat formats. Given his importance to the Kings’ rotation, he’s worth rostering in 14-team leagues, but 12-team league managers can afford to look elsewhere for production.

After poor showings in games against the Timberwolves and Suns, LaVine has been more productive in the Kings’ last two games. In Sunday’s defeat, the veteran wing’s stat line included a season-high three steals. In fact, this was LaVine’s third game of the season with multiple steals. In other words, fantasy managers should know not to look to him for consistent defensive production. The hope is that he can knock down shots at a decent clip. The Kings play only two games in Week 7, starting with the Rockets on Wednesday.

DeRozan led the way offensively for the Kings, who had three players score at least 19 points on Sunday. Their issue was one DeRozan couldn’t help with: the inability to slow down Memphis center Zach Edey. Over the past two weeks, DeMar has provided fifth-round value in nine-cat formats, sitting just outside the top-50. Unfortunately, Sacramento has a bad Week 7 schedule, as they only play twice. DeRozan should be held, but there are Kings further down the pecking order who won’t be of much use to fantasy managers.

George missed all six of his shot attempts and only ended up playing 19 minutes. He entered the game as questionable with an illness but played through it, making it easy to attribute his worst performance of the season to the fact that he was under the weather. Bailey was the leading scorer for Utah and was one of six players to score in double figures for them. That may seem like it was a balanced attack, but nearly a third of the team’s points came in the fourth quarter, after the game was out of reach. Filipowski logged 31 minutes off the bench, which can be attributed to the lopsided score. That was a new season high for minutes, so while he was semi-productive during his time on the floor, he won’t see this many minutes often. Murray’s three-point shooting has been his strongest attribute throughout his career. However, he didn’t provide much value from beyond the arc in this game.
