Holmes played 20 minutes off the bench in Monday’s loss to the Heat, again serving as Alexandre Sarr’s backup. If he’s unable to play against Utah, Tristan Vukcevic will move into that role. However, Vukcevic is unlikely to get the minutes needed to impact fantasy basketball.

Middleton didn’t play a ton of minutes, but he was on the court long enough to lead his team in scoring and deliver some useful peripherals. Over the last two games, he’s gone for at least 16/3/3/2, and he’s ranked just outside the top 100 in per-game fantasy value over the last week. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues could do worse.

George sustained a facial injury and left the game late in the fourth quarter. He finished the night with 10 points, eight boards, five assists, a steal and two triples across 32 minutes before his early exit. George has seen his playing time increase from 26.2 minutes pre All-Star break to over 31 minutes after the break, and he’s ranked inside the top 140 over the last two weeks. George is worth a look in deeper leagues as he continues to play a large role for Washington, but fantasy managers will need to keep an eye on his status following Monday’s injury.

Washington is making a long-term commitment to Champagnie, who is averaging 7.5 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 50.7 percent from the field this season. The former UDFA bounced around from the Raptors, Celtics, and Heat before catching on with the Wizards in early 2024. Champagnie maintains little fantasy value at this time, but the Wizards are hoping he can become a solid three-and-D wing as he hits his prime.

On the final day of his 10-day contract, Hayes returned to the city where his NBA career began. The former lottery pick struggled against the team that drafted him, shooting 1-of-6 from the field while providing modest production in the rebound and assist categories. The Nets will have a decision to make regarding Killian. The health of D’Angelo Russell will likely influence the Nets’ decision regarding Hayes. Reece Beekman (3/1/1/3 in 26 minutes) may figure more prominently in the bench rotation if the Nets do not re-sign Hayes and Russell remains out.

As has been the case since he cracked the Nets’ rotation, Johnson had another game in which he shot poorly but provided value in other areas. The 20 percent night from the field won’t help category league managers on the verge of losing that category, but Johnson did grab eight rebounds and hit two three-pointers. Rostered in 19 percent of Yahoo leagues, he has provided eighth-round value in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. However, his value moving forward depends on how much Cam Thomas plays. While he did not play on Saturday, Thomas did replace Johnson in the starting lineup for Friday’s loss to the Thunder.

Johnson had a brutal shooting night in Detroit, which included going 0-of-10 from beyond the arc. His streak of 60 consecutive games, the second-longest in franchise history, ended in brutal fashion. Due to poor performance, Johnson has become a 10th-round player in nine-cat formants over the past two weeks. He’ll look to bounce back on Tuesday when the Nets visit the Spurs.

On a night when Cameron Johnson, Keon Johnson and Ziaire Williams combined to shoot 11-of-49 from the field, Martin was among the few bright spots for the Nets. The 23 points are the most he’s scored since November 27, when he tallied a career-high 30 against the Suns. While this one performance doesn’t make Martin a player who should be rostered in most fantasy leagues, it does put him on the radar for the “silly season.” The Nets played Saturday without Cam Thomas, which freed up additional scoring opportunities.

George’s shooting struggles remain, but that isn’t something that dynasty managers should worry about. He will figure that out eventually. It’s everything else that he has done this season that makes him an exciting prospect, and this game was no exception. George set a new career-high for assists and was able to maintain his recent uptick in defensive production. George should be considered a high-upside option during “silly season”, and he has shown plenty of flashes in his first year in the league that should make him an enticing rookie to dynasty managers.

Middleton’s production has been limited since being traded to Washington, but he played well on Saturday. He had his highest scoring game as a Wizards and still provided value in other categories while playing just 24 minutes. Middleton’s role has been limited with Washington, and that isn’t likely to change at any point. However, he proved in this game that he can still contribute standard league value in a limited role. Washington only has three games next week, but Middleton should be productive when he’s on the floor.

After missing three games with an ankle sprain, Sarr was back in the lineup against Charlotte. He didn’t have a great night, but it was good to see the rookie back on the floor, and he was able to play 26 minutes. Richaun Holmes, who had been starting in place of Sarr, played the other 22 minutes at center off the bench and contributed 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal. Holmes may be able to continue providing value even with Sarr back, though his upside will be limited as a reserve.

Saturday’s game is the second in as many nights for the Nets. As a result, Cam Thomas will not play after returning from a hamstring injury on Friday. Thomas started, but played only 21 minutes as the Nets lost by 19 points Friday. The 23-year-old shooting guard had been out for almost two months with a hamstring injury. While his minutes should only increase from here, Thomas can put up points in a short amount of time on the floor. He had 16 points against Portland while missing all four of his 3-point attempts. Claxton is back after serving a one-game suspension on Wednesday, meaning Day’Ron Sharpe will head to the bench. The more notable change is Thomas, who is back after missing nearly two months with a hamstring injury. Due to his return, Keon Johnson heads to the bench, where his fantasy value takes a hit.

Thomas, who hasn’t played since January 2, will make his return against Portland after missing nearly two months. Thomas has been a starter for most of the season, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he came off the bench and was on a strict minutes restriction. Williams has hit double figures in points in four straight and five of his last six games, one reason why he’s provided sixth-round value in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. Also, Wednesday’s double-double was Williams’ second of the season. He’s rostered in 11 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which may increase based on the recent production. Something that may boost Williams’ fantasy value later this season would be the Nets deciding to limit Cameron Johnson’s minutes, but that isn’t guaranteed to happen. Currently on a 10-day contract, Hayes has his best game as a Net on Wednesday. The 7-of-13 night from the field included Hayes shooting 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. He’s a career 27.6 percent shooter from three, so fantasy managers need to keep this night in perspective. However, Wednesday’s performance may improve Hayes’ chances of getting a second 10-day, especially if D’Angelo Russell (ankle) remains out.

Starting for the suspended Nic Claxton, Sharpe had the best game of his NBA career on Wednesday. He established season-highs in points (25) and rebounds (16), with the former also being a career-high. Also, this was just Sharpe’s fourth 20-point game as a professional and first since March 2023. This night won’t change much in the short term, as Claxton will be eligible for Friday’s game against the Trail Blazers. After scoring 13 points on 4-of-15 shooting in games against the Magic and Nets, Kispert got back on track Wednesday night. He’s scored 20 points or more in two of his last five games and can provide solid three-point value. Before that two-game slump, he ripped off a run of seven straight games in double figures, averaging 16.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 3.3 three-pointers while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. Kispert is only rostered in seven percent of Yahoo! leagues; he’ll be worth a dice roll in deep leagues for Saturday’s game against the Hornets.

Starting for the injured Alexandre Sarr (ankle), Holmes did not miss a shot on Wednesday. The 20 points were a season-high, with the offensive output making up for the non-existent defensive stats. Holmes is unlikely to revisit his fantasy basketball “glory days” at this stage in his career, but he’s worth a look in deep leagues when allowed to start. After a rough 2023-24 campaign, Poole has been much-improved, even if the strides taken have not resulted in more wins for the Wizards. He’s provided top-50 value in eight-cat formats, something few (if any) fantasy managers expected. With Wednesday’s effort, Poole has scored 20-plus points in consecutive games for the first time since February 7-8, and he has been a top-40 player over the past three weeks in eight-cat. Even better for fantasy managers is that Poole and the Wizards end Week 17 with a game against the Hornets on Saturday.
