Edwards was added to the injured report as questionable for right foot injury maintenance. He’s in danger of sitting this one out after dropping 25 points Saturday night. Bones Hyland and Mike Conley would see increased playing time if Edwards is ruled out.

Hyland had a solid stretch in mid-December, but his role has been limited recently. However, he went over 20 minutes in this game, which allowed him to set a new season high for assists. He has redeemed his value this season, but that hasn’t led to him being a consistent contributor in redraft leagues. Still, at only 25 years old, he has value in dynasty formats.

It hasn’t come consistently, but when Reid is hot, he’s been able to pour in the points for Minnesota off the bench. Over his last seven games, he has scored at least 20 points three times, including a 29-point game and a 33-point game. He’s also scored less than 10 points three times during that stretch. The production has been hit-or-miss, so we’ll see which side the coin lands on against the Spurs on Sunday.

Though the Wolves’ four-game win streak came to a close, Edwards was able to score at least 25 points for a sixth consecutive game. He wasn’t quite as efficient as he has been recently, but he was still able to pour in the points. He’s having the most effective scoring season of his career, and he’ll look to get back on track against the Spurs on Sunday, which will be the second leg of a back-to-back.

There were few positive takeaways for the rebuilding Wizards at the outset of the Trae Young era as they gave up 128 points on the defensive end of the floor and shot just 42.5 percent on the night. The 20-year-old big man has been extremely impactful for fantasy purposes this season, averaging 17.2 points, 7.5 assists, 3.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.3 blocks through 28 games. Anthony Edwards had a balanced performance on Thursday. He started the game strong with an 11-point opening quarter, which was later followed by an almost-as-good 10 points in the third quarter. Along the way, the superstar shooting guard shifted into his playmaking role — Edwards finished with a team-high in assists and fell just shy of a triple-double. He’ll face the Cavaliers again on Saturday, and fantasy managers hope more production follows.

McDaniels followed a strong 19-point outing against the Heat on Tuesday by breaking the 20-point mark for the 9th time this season. He made the most of his opportunities and shot the three-pointer well, and had his usual impact on the defensive end of the floor. Robbins claims that “the plan is for [Young] to rehab his ankle in-house” and take his time returning to the court. The Wizards then anticipate Young picking up his $49 million player option for 2026, at which time they will see how well he fits alongside young players like Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George. Slow-playing Young this season makes sense, considering the Wizards’ first-round pick is top-eight-protected. That means that, if the Wizards lose enough games to pick inside the top eight in the 2026 NBA Draft, they will keep their pick, but if they pick outside of the top eight, the New York Knicks will control the rights to the Wizards’ pick.

With CJ McCollum (quad) sidelined for the first time this season, Carrington entered the starting unit for Washington. It seems likely that he’ll get at least one more start on Friday against the Pelicans since the Wizards traded for Trae Young and shipped out McCollum right after the game ended. Rumors had been heating up, and now it’s official. Young will head to Washington after appearing in just 10 games during his eighth season with the Hawks. Young will be reunited with Travis Schlenk, who drafted Trae in 2018 and is now an executive with the Wizards. The Wizards will have the rest of this season and, assuming he opts into his contract for next year, all of next season to decide if they want to keep Young around. It was a low-cost move for Washington, and they added a former All-NBA player that led the NBA in assists last season. If they’re able to add another top pick in the draft this season, the Wizards will have one of the best young cores in the NBA and a star point guard to help facilitate things on offense. Plus, Washington has enough length to make up for Young’s defensive limitations. Trae has been sidelined recently with a quad injury, but that could certainly heal up quickly now that he’s on a new team.

Between injuries and subpar performances, it was a rough start to the season for Coulibaly. However, this recent stretch has been a productive one. Edwards poured in 16 first-half points to help the Timberwolves build an early lead, which they extended to nearly 30 points by the midway point of the fourth quarter, in their second contest against Miami in the last three days. The combination of the score and a couple early fouls cut into Edwards’ minutes and prevented him from an even more impressive scoring performance as he was feeling it from long range, hitting 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. While not as prolific as twin brother Julian was on New Year’s Eve against the Knicks, Champagnie gave the Wizards welcome scoring off the bench on Tuesday. His four three-pointers were a season-high, and the Wizards’ wing also offered solid production in the assist and steal categories. Sunday’s game was Kispert’s first since December 23, when he exited a loss to the Hornets with a hamstring injury. However, Kispert is not worth the risk in most leagues, even with Kyshawn George (hip) essentially week-to-week. McCollum led the way offensively for the Wizards on Sunday, recording his second 20-point game in his last eight appearances.
