Champagnie has reached double figures in each of his last three appearances. While the playing time, 25 minutes on Sunday, wasn’t the best, he remains in the starting lineup. For that reason, Champagnie is worth the risk for managers seeking players with “silly season standout” potential. The Wizards only play one of their four Week 17 games before the All-Star break, on Wednesday against the Cavaliers, so there won’t be much to be gained from grabbing Champagnie off the waiver wire on Monday.

Sarr struggled with foul trouble in Sunday’s blowout loss, but that didn’t keep him from recording his 12th double-double of the season. The 7-footer still logged 26 minutes against the Heat, an encouraging sign after he played 18 in Thursday’s win over the Pistons. Coulibaly took a shot to the face from Heat guard Kasparas Jakučionis with 5:36 remaining in the fourth quarter and did not return. The third-year wing finished with seven points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and one three-pointer. Will Riley (nine points, one rebound, one steal, one block and one three-pointer) was limited to 21 minutes, an understandable development since he played 45 on Saturday. If Coulibaly misses time, Riley is the most likely beneficiary.

The second-year wing limped to the locker room immediately after being subbed out, and he will not return to the game. With OG Anunoby (toe) out, Shamet moved into the starting lineup on Sunday. Unfortunately for those who may have streamed him for the three-point potential, the veteran wing shot 1-of-4 from three and offered limited value in his 28 minutes. Rookie Mohamed Diawara had the better day, contributing 10 points (4-of-4 FGs), three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers in 27 minutes off the bench. The streaming values of Shamet and Diawara moving forward depend on Anunoby’s availability.

Alvarado made his Knicks debut on Sunday, and with Miles McBride (core) out for the foreseeable future, the New York City native’s return home takes on added importance. And Alvarado showed what he’s capable of on Sunday, recording a complete stat line in his 25 minutes on the floor. As has been the case with McBride at various points, there were also stretches when the Knicks played Alvarado and Jalen Brunson together on Sunday. For the few who may have been holding out hope for Tyler Kolek to get a few more minutes with McBride out, he did not check into Sunday’s game until there were just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the game was decided.

After tweaking his left ankle during Friday’s loss to the Pistons, Hart playing on Sunday wasn’t a sure thing. Not only did he play, but the wing’s offensive output was a needed supplement to Jalen Brunson’s game-high 31 points. Before he first injured the ankle during Tuesday’s win over the Wizards, Hart was on a run of three straight games with at least 20 points. Depending on how much longer OG Anunoby (toe) is out, the Knicks will need Sunday’s version of Hart more often.

Coming off of his worst performance of the season in Friday’s 38-point loss to the Pistons, Brunson showed up in Boston seemingly intent on redeeming himself. Two days after NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Davis was unlikely to play again this season, Dawkins said that he anticipates the forward/center returning at some point. In the short term, Davis will return to Dallas to work with his medical team as he recovers from ligament damage in his left hand. Dawkins also noted that the 4-to-6 week timeline provided in mid-January is closer to 6-to-10 weeks. If Davis were to play this season, the timeline suggests he won’t be available until sometime in March.

Like his teammates, Riley got off to a slow start on Saturday. But the Wizards were able to make Saturday’s defeat more respectable, thanks in part to their rookie wing. After scoring 20 points in a win over the Pistons on Thursday, Riley recorded a new season-high on Saturday and has reached double figures in five straight. The Knicks have added to their backcourt, taking a chance on a 2022 first-round pick who will be a free agent in the summer. Wednesday’s game was the first for Towns since January 19, when he scored 22 in a blowout loss to the Mavericks. While KAT’s offensive production has taken a hit during New York’s eight-game win streak, he has been consistently productive as a rebounder, averaging 13.4 caroms per game. Given his skill, the offense will come around. The good news for the Knicks and for fantasy managers is that KAT’s rebounding prowess has been a constant.
