One of the few positives to take from the Wizards’ blowout loss was Sarr’s play, with the second-year center recording another double-double. With it unknown when (or if) Trae Young will make his debut for the team, Sarr may not get many opportunities to establish in-game chemistry with the Wizards’ new point guard. However, as long as he isn’t shut down later in the season, Sarr should continue to offer excellent fantasy value.

After more than a year on the sidelines recovering from a torn ACL, Wagner made his first appearance of the season on Sunday. Due to the time missed, his minutes were limited, but the reserve forward/center was productive in ten minutes on the floor. Since the Magic were without Wendell Carter Jr., Goga Bitadze (14/13/1/3/2) played 32 minutes as the starting center. Once Carter returns and Wagner’s minutes aren’t restricted, Bitadze’s opportunities will take a hit.

Sunday’s game was his first with at least 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists since a December 29 triple-double against the Raptors. The negative for fantasy managers who have Banchero rostered is that he won’t play again until Thursday, with the Magic playing two games against the Grizzlies in Berlin and London during Week 13.

There were few positive takeaways for the rebuilding Wizards at the outset of the Trae Young era as they gave up 128 points on the defensive end of the floor and shot just 42.5 percent on the night. The 20-year-old big man has been extremely impactful for fantasy purposes this season, averaging 17.2 points, 7.5 assists, 3.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.3 blocks through 28 games. The Wizards close out the week with a road tilt against the Suns on Sunday evening.

His fantasy managers can breathe easy after Friday’s effort as Black managed to tally 21 points in the loss. The 21-year-old point guard averaged 18.9 points per game in December so it’s a good sign to see him get back to that level of scoring.

He’s provided eighth-round per game value this season. The Magic close out the week against the Pelicans on Sunday.

The Wizards then anticipate Young picking up his $49 million player option for 2026, at which time they will see how well he fits alongside young players like Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George. Slow-playing Young this season makes sense, considering the Wizards’ first-round pick is top-eight-protected. That means that, if the Wizards lose enough games to pick inside the top eight in the 2026 NBA Draft, they will keep their pick, but if they pick outside of the top eight, the New York Knicks will control the rights to the Wizards’ pick.

Carter Jr. was one of only two Orlando players to finish with 20 or more points on the evening. None of the big man’s scoring production came from the three-point line versus Brooklyn, which marks the second consecutive game that he’s gone without a three-pointer. He also wasn’t involved much as a rebounder or passer, and his two stocks weren’t anything fantasy managers should be excited about. Still, his scoring was important to his team’s success tonight. He’ll have an opportunity to put up another solid effort on Friday against the 76ers.

It was a rough night for the first-year Magic guard, who tallied as many turnovers as he did made field goals on Wednesday. His minimal contributions as a passer and rebounder were also notable on a night in which he tallied 35 minutes in an overtime game. Bane has had his share of ups and downs throughout the season, but remains more than capable of putting up big numbers on the offensive end of the floor. He’ll have a chance to bounce back on Friday against the 76ers to put up strong fantasy production.

Banchero bounced back on Wednesday from a forgettable Tuesday against the Wizards to help the Magic edge out the Nets in overtime. He notched a team-high in points and was one of several Magic players to secure double-digit rebounds. The numbers equated to the former first-overall pick’s second double-double of the month and 11th of the season. Banchero did struggle with his ball security, committing nine turnovers and ultimately costing himself some fantasy basketball production. Still, his lone three-pointer, which beat the buzzer in overtime, more than made up for the miscues. His final line was exceptional, considering he was benched in a 14-point effort on Tuesday.

It seems likely that he’ll get at least one more start on Friday against the Pelicans since the Wizards traded for Trae Young and shipped out McCollum right after the game ended. Young had been dealing with a quad injury, so Carrington should start until he is available to make his debut for the Wizards, giving him limited streaming value.

Rumors had been heating up, and now it’s official. Young will head to Washington after appearing in just 10 games during his eighth season with the Hawks. Young will be reunited with Travis Schlenk, who drafted Trae in 2018 and is now an executive with the Wizards. The Wizards will have the rest of this season and, assuming he opts into his contract for next year, all of next season to decide if they want to keep Young around. It was a low-cost move for Washington, and they added a former All-NBA player that led the NBA in assists last season. If they’re able to add another top pick in the draft this season, the Wizards will have one of the best young cores in the NBA and a star point guard to help facilitate things on offense. Plus, Washington has enough length to make up for Young’s defensive limitations. Trae has been sidelined recently with a quad injury, but that could certainly heal up quickly now that he’s on a new team.

Between injuries and subpar performances, it was a rough start to the season for Coulibaly. However, this recent stretch has been a productive one. He wasn’t able to contribute any defensive stats, which has inflated his recent value, but he was able to have a solid night on offense. He’s known for his defense, but any consistency on offense will help him be even more valuable for fantasy managers, which makes his recent games encouraging.

This was the second 20-point game of his rookie season, with the other also coming during the seven games since he moved back into the starting lineup. Richardson and the other Magic reserves were the reason why Orlando pulled to within two points with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Due to their effort, Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley stuck with the reserves for the entire fourth quarter, which likely factored into their running out of steam late. But it was earned. In Richardson’s case, the rookie recorded his first 20-point game. And as the Magic await the returns of Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner, he’ll continue to have opportunities to contribute off the bench.

Coulibaly was one of six Wizards in double figures on Tuesday, but the steals category is where he set himself apart. The five steals were a career-high for the third-year wing, who recorded four in a January 2 win over the Nets. Rostered in 26 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Coulibaly has been close to a top-50 player in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. While those who have him rostered may consider selling high, managers in leagues where Coulibaly is available should think about picking him up.

McCollum’s name has come up in connection with Trae Young trade rumors recently, making him a player to watch well ahead of the February trade deadline. Sarr and the Wizards entered Tuesday hoping to bounce back from Sunday’s blowout loss to the Timberwolves, and they got the job done. The second-year center, who has been a much-improved player this season, recorded a complete stat line on excellent percentages. Also, Sarr has now blocked at least four shots in six games this season. Not only does he have the look of a crucial building block for the Wizards, but he is also a player capable of developing into one of the most valuable centers in fantasy basketball.

McCollum has been productive enough to merit being rostered in 12-team leagues, but managers are certainly rooting for him to be moved ahead of the February trade deadline.
