Carrington left Thursday’s matchup with Detroit after only four minutes with knee soreness, so his full practice just three days later is certainly encouraging. It doesn’t appear that he’s in danger of missing the opener against Milwaukee on October 22, but fantasy managers should still keep an eye on his status.

Two days after being waived by the Raptors, Lawson has returned to the franchise on a two-way deal. In three NBA seasons, the 6-foot-6 wing has appeared in 83 games, including 26 for the Raptors last season. He’ll likely see most of his playing time with the Raptors’ G League affiliate, which would not impact fantasy basketball.

Quickley’s 10 assists were a preseason-high. The 26-year-old point guard has now made at least five three-pointers in two of his last three preseason games. Quickley played 34 minutes Friday as the Raptors get closer to the end of the preseason. After playing an abbreviated season last year due to injury, Quickley is once against being counted on heavily by the Raptors and could be undervalued in fantasy drafts due to the previous injury.

Barnes had just seven points on 13 shots against the Celtics on Wednesday. He bounced back in a major way against the Nets on Friday with 31 points on 15 attempts. Barnes also got to the free throw line 12 times and made 11 attempts. The 24-year-old small forward put his fantasy managers at ease for now with a much better shooting night after going 6-of-30 from the field to begin the preseason.

Appearing in his second game of the preseason, Poeltl played 24 minutes before exiting with lower back stiffness. This is the same issue that sidelined the Raptors’ starting center for the beginning of the preseason, with Poeltl not making his debut until Wednesday night against the Celtics. He’ll have a few days to recover for the start of the regular season, as the Raptors don’t open until October 22. If Poeltl cannot play, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jonathan Mogbo should see their playing time increase.

Murray-Boyles injured his right elbow during Toronto’s October 10 exhibition against the Celtics and has not played since. While the rookie will not play on Friday, there’s hope that he’ll be good to go for the Raptors’ regular-season opener on October 22. Murray-Boyles’ defensive versatility should get him into the rotation once healthy, but he may not significantly impact fantasy basketball early on.

While Sarr made all six free throw attempts, he struggled with the physicality of the Pistons’ bigs, most notably starter Jalen Duren. That was sometimes an issue for the Wizards center during his rookie season, and it’s unsurprising given his build. What will help Sarr is being able to knock down perimeter shots. He made 30.8 percent of his three-point attempts as a rookie and shot 1-of-4 in two preseason games. Sarr has top-100 potential, especially as a focal point for the rebuilding Wizards, but he has to get better at dealing with physicality to truly flourish.

McCollum looked good in his final action of the preseason, playing 24 minutes against the Pistons. He and fellow veteran Khris Middleton (3/4/4 in 24 minutes) are in an interesting spot. Under normal circumstances, both would have solid fantasy value as starters. However, with the Wizards rebuilding, it’s fair to wonder how long that will last, and if the team hopes to showcase McCollum and Middleton before the February trade deadline. That question pushes both players down some boards, with McCollum being the superior fantasy option.

Some have targeted George as a potential fantasy breakout candidate, and with good reason. With Bilal Coulibaly (thumb) unavailable to begin the regular season, George should have the runway to start fast when the regular season begins next week. The second-year wing looked sharp in Thursday’s preseason finale, recording a complete stat line. Does George merit being selected with a top-100 pick in standard leagues? Not necessarily, but those willing to reach cannot be blamed for doing so.

Carrington exited Thursday’s preseason finale after playing four minutes. He landed awkwardly after attempting to deflect a pass. The good news is that the Wizards announced the second-year guard is dealing with a sore left knee rather than a more serious issue. Washington opens the regular season on October 22 against Milwaukee. Fantasy managers should not panic and push Carrington down their draft boards, unless the Wizards provide an update that proves more serious than the initial diagnosis.

In their third and final preseason game, the Wizards will roll out the same five-man unit that they began the preseason with. Thursday’s starting lineup, which features a combination of youth and experienced veterans, could presumably be the same one used on opening night by Washington when it faces Milwaukee on October 22. Given the Wizards have neither played many preseason games nor gotten many reps together thus far, it’ll be interesting to see how much playing time the main rotation players receive against the Pistons.

It has been a rough preseason for Barnes, and that continued on Wednesday. He has shot 6-of-30 from the floor through three preseason outings, though there shouldn’t be much concern at this point, since these are only exhibition games. They have one more game on Friday for him to get back on track before the regular season begins.

Though it’s just the preseason, Ingram’s tenure as a Raptor has gotten off to a strong start. After a lost season in New Orleans where he only played 18 games, Ingram can bounce back in a big way, as long as he is able to remain healthy. Through three games, he’s averaging 20 points and 2.7 threes in 25.7 minutes per game.

Monday’s game was the second in as many days for the Wizards, resulting in a day off for Alex Sarr. Bagley moved into the starting lineup, and the 2018 lottery pick took advantage of his opportunity. He recorded a double-double in 24 minutes, with the final stat line only missing a three-pointer. Tristan Vukcevic (15/4/3/1 with three three-pointers) also played well, logging 17 minutes off the bench. The backup center competition is unlikely to make waves in fantasy basketball, as Sarr will play significant minutes as the starter. However, Bagley and Vukcevic boast different skill sets, making it possible for both to get their chances during the regular season, depending on the opponent.

Like fellow first-round pick Tre Johnson, Riley looked far more comfortable in his second preseason appearance than in Sunday’s opener against the Raptors. In addition to shooting the ball well, the former Illinois wing took on some on-ball playmaking duties during Monday’s victory. Riley did not take on that role much in college, as he was teammates with Heat rookie Kasparas Jakučionis and current Illinois guard Kylan Boswell. However, that’s something to watch during the regular season. If Riley can do more offensively as a playmaker, that would raise his long-term ceiling.

Carrington and fellow second-year Wizard Kyshawn George (11 points, two assists and one three-pointer) were the only holdovers from the lineup that started Sunday’s loss to the Raptors, as Alex Sarr, CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton all rested on Monday. Bub made the most of his limited shooting opportunities, not missing any of his three attempts from the field. George also shot well, going 3-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line. Carrington and George being starters make both solid late-round fantasy options, with the latter offering a slightly higher ceiling due to his defensive ability.

After shooting 3-of-9 from the field in Washington’s preseason opener on Sunday, Johnson looked more comfortable on Monday. The rookie guard shot efficiently and took on some playmaking responsibilities, dishing out three assists without a turnover. With the guards currently on the Wizards’ roster, Johnson appears likely to begin the season with the second unit. However, with the franchise in the midst of a rebuild, he will play plenty. Johnson is worth the gamble in deep leagues, especially for those willing to exercise some patience. It would be unsurprising if Johnson figured more prominently in the rotation after the February trade deadline.

The Wizards will go with a new starting lineup on Monday, choosing to rest several key players on the second night of a back-to-back. This includes Alex Sarr, who had missed the start of training camp due to a calf injury. Nevertheless, Washington will bump Champagnie, Johnson, and Bagley III into the starting lineup as it looks to secure its first preseason win.

McCollum looked sharp in his Wizards debut, hitting 7-of-14 shots, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Washington started Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Khris Middleton and Bub Carrington, potentially showcasing an opening night starting five. McCollum will likely have the green light on offense, and fantasy managers can expect plenty of points and triples. The Wizards may shift in to tank mode at some point, and McCollum could emerge as a trade target, leaving his overall fantasy floor a bit questionable.

Sarr’s production wasn’t off the charts, but he hit the most important shot of the game. Down 112-111 with 0.8 seconds left on the clock, Sarr caught an alley-oop inbounds pass from Jared Rhoden and laid it up for the game-winning bucket at the buzzer. Olivier and brother Alex of the Wizards played their first head-to-head matchup in the NBA and exchanged jerseys after the contest.

Quickley led Toronto in the scoring department thanks in large part to his five made three-pointers. IQ logged just 33 appearances a season ago, and fantasy managers will hope for a healthier season when selecting him on draft day. He profiles as a mid-round selection, likely becoming a viable pick around the fifth or sixth round in most standard drafts.

The Wizards are the last NBA team to open their preseason schedule, and they’ll do so without an expected starter. Bilal Coulibaly remains out after undergoing thumb surgery a few weeks before the start of training camp, opening up a spot in the starting five. George and Middleton will start at the forward spots on Sunday, with the former potentially being the player more likely to move to the bench once Coulibaly returns. Even if he comes off the bench when the regular season begins, playing time will not be an issue for George on the rebuilding Wizards.

After sitting all five expected starters in Friday’s win over the Celtics, the Raptors will have Quickley, Barrett and Barnes on the court Sunday afternoon. Jakob Poeltl remains out and Brandon Ingram will miss a second straight game, resulting in starts for Walter and Mamukelashvili. While the latter is essentially guaranteed a spot in the Raptors’ regular-season rotation, Walter could use a good effort on Sunday to help separate from the pack among Toronto’s surplus of reserve wings.

Sarr, the second overall pick in the 2024 draft, injured his left calf while representing France at EuroBasket this summer. Toronto rested its entire starting lineup for Friday’s exhibition game. While that did not result in Hepburn moving into the starting five, it did free up additional minutes for him off the bench. And the two-way contract player out of Louisville took full advantage, helping spark a fourth-quarter rally that turned a 10-point deficit into a two-point victory. Hepburn is not someone to consider in redraft leagues. Still, the defensive intensity and the success of Toronto’s G League program make him an intriguing late-round option in dynasty drafts.

Gradey was not part of the Raptors’ fourth-quarter rally, which was capped by a Jonathan Mogbo (8/5/3/1) layup in the final seconds. However, the third-year wing was excellent while on the court. Gradey shot the ball well from the field and was an active rebounder, which is what he’ll need to do to carve out a consistent role for himself when the starters are available. The Raptors rested their usual starters for Friday’s game, resulting in more opportunities for Gradey and the others. He isn’t a player worth drafting, but there may be streaming opportunities throughout the season, especially considering Brandon Ingram’s injury history.

Murray-Boyles, inserted into the Raptors’ starting lineup for Friday’s game, suffered a right elbow contusion during the first quarter and did not return. The lottery pick only played eight minutes, finishing with four points (2-of-3 FGs), one rebound and one assist. The Raptors don’t open the regular season until October 22; hopefully, that’s enough time for Murray-Boyles to get back to full strength. Toronto’s projected starters are resting, so the team’s second unit will start Friday’s preseason home opener. Murray-Boyles, the Raptors’ first-round pick in June’s draft, can play power forward or center, which can also be said for Mamukelashvili. As for the fill-ins on the perimeter, all three can use solid performances to strengthen their chances of playing consistent rotation minutes when the regular season begins.

Murray-Boyles, the ninth overall pick in this summer’s draft, provided a solid stat line in his second preseason game. Having struggled in Toronto’s preseason opener, the rookie forward looked far more comfortable Wednesday night. While Murray-Boyles is listed at 6-foot-8, the Raptors have not hesitated to go small under Darko Rajakovic, as evidenced by Jonathan Mogbo (5/7/2/2) starting at center for the sidelined Jakob Poeltl. The Raptors’ willingness to go small in an attempt to sew chaos defensively may result in consistent opportunities for Murray-Boyles once the regular season begins, and he could be especially valuable later in the year if Toronto is not in contention for a playoff spot.

Due to Toronto’s logjam on the wings, Walter’s chances of getting the playing time needed to impact fantasy basketball this season may be limited. However, he showed signs on Wednesday that he could be a player that Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic trusts with consistent bench minutes. Walter was active on both ends of the floor against the Kings, with his production being one reason the Raptors picked up the victory. Walter doesn’t qualify as a must-draft player by any stretch of the imagination in redraft leagues, but there may be times during the season when he steps up as a streamer.

Despite being sidelined since December 7 with an ankle injury, Ingram has looked good in his first two preseason games with the Raptors. He shot 5-of-7 from deep in Wednesday’s win over the Kings and 13-of-27 from the field overall through two games. Toronto did not have Scottie Barnes for Wednesday’s game, freeing up additional on-ball opportunities for Ingram. However, touches are unlikely to be an issue for him at any point, whether Barnes is on the court or not. When available, Ingram is a solid fantasy asset. However, past availability issues push him down some draft boards, as fantasy managers have to anticipate at least one extended absence per season.

In addition to Jakob Poellt, the Raptors will be without Scottie Barnes for the team’s second preseason game. He’ll be replaced in the starting lineup by Agbaji, with Mogbo once again replacing Poeltl. The electric scorer out of Texas went No. 6 to Washington, and these early reports indicate he’s endearing himself to players and coaching staff, alike. Mamukelashvili, who starred for Georgia at EuroBasket this summer, made a positive impression in his Raptors preseason debut. The forward/center made the most of his 23 minutes on the floor, shooting 75 percent from the field and finishing a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. Even with Jakob Poeltl sitting out Monday’s game, Mamukelashvili came off the bench, with Jonathan Mogbo (6/2/0/2) receiving the starting nod. Given his shooting ability, Mamu will be part of the rotation once the regular season begins. However, his touches may be limited due to Toronto’s many scoring options on the perimeter and the wings.

Barrett performed well in Toronto’s preseason opener in Vancouver. He played an efficient brand of basketball, whether he was looking for his shot or facilitating. The issue for Barrett in fantasy basketball is how much he will have the ball in his hands. Immanuel Quickley, Brandon Ingram, and Scottie Barnes will all require opportunities to make plays, which may limit Barrett’s ceiling. Also, he’s never been a great option in category leagues, failing to crack the top-150 in any of his first six NBA seasons. As of Monday evening, Barrett boasted a Yahoo! ADP of 82.4, which is too high given the track record.

Acquired from the Pelicans at the February trade deadline, Monday’s exhibition was the first game action for Ingram since December 7. Given the time missed, he looked sharp offensively, shooting 50 percent from the field and only committing one turnover. From a fantasy standpoint, the concern for the Raptors’ wings is whether the room will be too crowded. In addition to Ingram, Scottie Barnes (1/4/5/3) and RJ Barrett are in the starting lineup. At the same time, options like Gradey Dick, Ja’Kobe Walter and Ochai Agbaji will compete for rotation minutes off the bench. While he has been a top-100 player six straight seasons, Ingram’s injury history makes him challenging to trust in standard leagues.
