Adams will rejoin the Rockets’ rotation after a one-game absence due to a hip injury. He’ll remain off the bench for the fifth straight game following his initial inclusion in the starting lineup to begin the season. The veteran is averaging 6.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and 1.0 steals per game through six regular-season appearances.

After missing the Rockets’ last game with a hip injury, Adams is in danger of missing another. Clint Capela had 10 rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench on Wednesday and should fill the backup center minutes again if Adams remains out.

Due to tightness in his right hip flexor, Adams will not play in Wednesday’s game. However, the Rockets welcome back Jabari Smith Jr. (ankle) after a one-game absence, so Houston should be fine from a depth standpoint. Clint Capela can take on some of the minutes that would have gone to Adams.

Evidently, it wasn’t just a matchup-based decision to roll with the double-big lineup against the Thunder. Adams finished with four points, 13 rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes in the opener, though six of those minutes came during the two overtimes. Adams should continue to hold some residual value as a source of boards in deeper leagues.

Houston’s starting unit will likely be matchup dependent this season, and they experimented with their two-big lineup in this one. When they utilize it, Adams will be a nice source of rebounds, but that’s about it. Sengun was still able to grab 12 boards while playing alongside Adams, which was encouraging for his value.

Coach Ime Udoka is still experimenting with starting lineups, and he’ll roll out a bigger one for this game, which pushes Reed Sheppard to the bench. It’s still unclear what lineup he’ll use on opening night, and it seems likely that it will be matchup dependent throughout the year.

Rather than test free agency, Adams agreed to three-year extension to stay with the Rockets. Houston already has Alperen Sengun as the starter, but Adams was a key player in Houston’s rotation down the stretch of the season as he usurped Jock Landale as the primary backup center. Adams isn’t much of a scorer at this point of his career, but averaged 15.8 minutes per game and 6.3 rebounds per game in the second half of the season.

Adams attempted a staggering 16 free throws in Game 6, as the Warriors intentionally fouled him on multiple occasions to close the gap. The veteran center made enough to keep Golden State at bay, and he has been more impactful than many may have expected before the series began. According to Hoop Informatics, Adams has been a +15 or better in the last three games. Houston has won the last two, and a similar effort from Adams in Sunday’s Game 7 may get the Rockets out of the first round for the first time since 2020.

Adams has been cleared to play shortly after being made a late addition to the injury report. He’ll continue to fill out the backup center minutes, which means there won’t be any extra time for Jock Landale.

On a night when their backcourt struggled mightily, the Rockets received solid contributions from their reserve bigs. Adams led the way with 12 rebounds, while Jabari Smith Jr. didn’t miss a shot and finished with 11 points, six rebounds, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in 25 minutes. Houston also took the approach of pairing Adams and Alperen Sengun when Stephen Curry was not on the court, but this had minimal impact on the action due to Houston’s guards struggling to hit shots. Game 2 is on Wednesday.

Adams moved into the starting lineup with Dillon Brooks out after receiving a 16th technical foul this year. The 31-year-old center only played 23 minutes despite getting the start. Adams still had a solid game with eight points and 12 rebounds against his former team. He’s not much of a source of fantasy value at this point in his career.

The Rockets are without Dillon Brooks, who picked up his 16th technical foul of the season in Wednesday’s win over the Jazz. Adams will fill his spot in the starting lineup as the Rockets match up with Oklahoma City’s tandem of Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein. Even with Adams receiving the starting nod, Tari Eason should play plenty off the bench.

Adams logged 12 minutes on Sunday and will be available to play in both legs of a back-to-back since early February. However, with Alperen Sengun healthy, Adams likely won’t see enough minutes to provide standard league value. Still, it’s a good step in his progression, since he has been dealing with ankle injuries all season.

After sitting out Thursday’s win over the Jazz, Adams played 12 minutes off the bench in Sunday’s win over the Suns. The veteran center has not played both ends of a back-to-back since February 3-4, but the importance of Monday’s matchup likely factors into Udoka saying that Adams will play. Houston and the Lakers are two of the teams fighting for the two-seed in the West, with the Rockets leading third-place Denver by two games in the loss column and the Lakers by three.

Adams is back after sitting out Thursday’s win over the Jazz. He’ll handle the backup center responsibilities, while Jock Landale will likely fall out of the rotation. There’s no need to roster Landale, who may re-enter the rotation for Monday’s game against the Lakers.

With Adams sidelined, Jock Landale will fill out the backup center minutes behind Alperen Sengun. That won’t result in Landale playing enough minutes to warrant a stream in any format.

Adams’ playing time has increased recently, with the veteran center logging 21 minutes or more in four of his last five appearances. However, Sunday’s game was the first in which his production was impactful. Adams recorded his third double-double of the season, and the three blocked shots matched his season-high. However, one night does not make Adams a player worth adding, especially with the Rockets only playing three games during Week 21.

Adams absolutely dominated down low in the 23 minutes that he was on the floor. He entered halftime with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and while he only added six more boards after halftime, it was enough to be one of Adams’ best games of the season. This was Adams’ second double-double of the season and was also a new season-high for rebounds. Adams hasn’t provided much value in fantasy basketball throughout the season, but he is still capable of controlling the glass when needed.
