While Oklahoma City’s starting lineup for Friday’s game likely aligns with the group that will be on the floor for its regular-season opener, that is not the case for the Nuggets. Johnson is the only player in Friday’s lineup who’s expected to be in the starting five when the regular season begins, with the other four being part of the bench rotation. He’s still getting acclimated to his new teammates, which may be why Johnson will play on Friday.

Brown, a solid contributor off the bench for the Nuggets’ title team in 2023, is headed back to the Mile High City. He’ll be on a one-year contract, and the role should be similar, especially with the Nuggets acquiring Cam Johnson from the Nets. Despite coming off the bench, Brown provided consistent fantasy value in Denver, but the last two seasons have been disappointing. He’s unlikely to be a player worth selecting in standard league drafts, but there may come a point when he’s a valuable waiver wire addition.

Brown and Hawkins will remain out for Sunday’s season finale, with the latter missing New Orleans’ final eight games. While Brown had his moments as a fantasy option after being traded to the Pelicans, he was not in a position where he could provide consistent value. Hawkins’s second season was frustrating due to injuries and inconsistent play when he was available. This summer will be critical for the former lottery pick, as he needs to show he can consistently contribute to the Pelicans.

Brown’s nine assists were a season-high, and he’s reached double figures in scoring in six of his last eight outings. The Pelicans wing was an 11th-round player in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. For managers whose leagues run through Week 23, the Pelicans play four games, making Brown worth a roll of the dice. He’s only rostered in 11 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Brown is another Pelicans player who stands to benefit from CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson being ruled out for the rest of the season. He continues to start for the latter and has been an eighth-round player in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. Brown is only rostered in 13 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and he’s worth a roll of the dice, despite the Pelicans’ final two games of Week 22 being played on Friday and Sunday, the busiest days of the week.

Brown shot just 1-of-8 from the floor and 0-of-2 from beyond the arc, but he made up for his poor scoring with monster peripheral contributions. Across his last two, Brown has averaged 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.5 swats. New Orleans is dealing with a multitude of injuries, which means Brown could be in line for big minutes down the stretch.

The stat line Brown recorded on Friday was what fantasy managers grew accustomed to during his time with the Nuggets, even if this performance came in a losing effort. The Pelicans were without CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson, and those absences boosted Brown’s usage. How valuable he is for the rest of the season comes down to his availability and that of fellow vets McCollum and Williamson. On Sunday, the Pelicans host the Hornets in a matchup of lottery-bound teams, which sets up well for Brown regarding fantasy value.

Brown sat out on Monday, which was the second night of a back-to-back. He’ll be back after a one-game absence, and with Zion Williamson (back) still sidelined, Brown should continue to start. Keion Brooks Jr. got the nod on Monday but will return to playing a reserve role.

Brown started and had 12 points in 35 minutes against the Pistons on Sunday. With Zion Williamson (back) out again Monday, he’d be in line for another start, but the 28-year-old small forward will sit out for conditioning reasons on the second night of a back-to-back. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl could move into the starting lineup.

Brown was ejected after arguing that he was fouled on a shot attempt. He received the technical fouls quickly, ending his night after 16 minutes of play. Brown finished with two points and one rebound. Antonio Reeves and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl will play more rotation minutes as Trey Murphy exited during the first half with a shoulder injury.

The Pelicans did not have Zion Williamson for Saturday’s game, so Brown remained in the starting lineup. While he did not record a complete stat line, the points, rebounds and assists were reminiscent of what Brown was able to do during his run with the Nuggets during the 2022-23 campaign. Bruce can be a valuable player to have rostered when allowed to play starters’ minutes, and the same can be said for Kelly Olynyk. He logged 31 minutes, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, seven assists and one steal. The Pelicans play four games during Week 20, with Olynyk having a slight edge on Brown since he’s more likely to remain a starter.

Olynyk is back after missing Thursday’s game for personal reasons and will start. Brown will also start, however, as the Pelicans are without Zion Williamson for Saturday’s matchup. Brown is worth streaming in deep leagues due to Zion’s absence, while Matkovic has added value with Yves Missi unavailable.

Brown made his second start as a Pelican on Tuesday and was able to have one of his best games since joining the team. His 12 points were his most since January, and the rebound and assist numbers were solid as well. This was Brown’s second start with New Orleans, but it’s unclear if he will remain in this role moving forward. He’s currently rostered in just two percent of Yahoo! leagues, and if he continues to start, he is an intriguing streaming option.

McCollum and Zion are back in the starting lineup after sitting out the second leg of the Pelicans’ back-to-back on Sunday. That will push Kelly Olynyk and Jose Alvarado to the bench. Brown also enters the starting unit in place of Jordan Hawkins, who will still play a larger role off the bench.

Brown’s absence will leave the Pelicans down a rotation wing, which may mean playing time for Jamal Cain. Cain does not need to be rostered in fantasy leagues.

Not only was Brown back on the court Friday after sitting out Thursday’s win over the Suns, but he was in the starting lineup for the rematch. While fantasy managers who may have hoped for a standout performance were left unfulfilled, the assists and steals were solid. However, Brown isn’t much more than a deep-league streamer, a disappointing slide for a player who had close to top-100 value while winning a championship with the Nuggets a few seasons ago.

Murphy and Missi are the only holdovers from the lineup that started Thursday’s win over the Suns. Hawkins moves into the starting five with CJ McCollum out, while Brown and Olynyk start after not playing on Thursday. Zion Williamson is unavailable, while rookie Karlo Matkovic will come off the bench.
