Bruce Brown tied a season-high in points on Thursday thanks to a sensational first half of basketball, when he scored 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting with three triples. He cooled down considerably after halftime but still finished as one of Denver’s top scorers on the evening. His facilitation was also impressive and important for Denver in his 25 minutes of game action. Brown isn’t a needle-mover in fantasy leagues or someone fantasy managers should be looking to add immediately, but he’s capable of having some productive nights.

Already playing without Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon, the Nuggets won’t have Peyton Watson for Thursday’s game. However, while Tim Hardaway Jr. played 39 minutes off the bench on Monday, it will be Brown who fills the void in the starting lineup against the Magic. Hardaway should still play plenty, but his fantasy value won’t receive the same boost that it would have if he were starting.

However, what was most notable about Tuesday’s result was Brown being part of the closing lineup, with the struggling Cameron Johnson (five points, two rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes) relegated to the bench. While neither player is providing top-200 value in eight-cat formats, Brown’s production has been superior to Johnson’s. That’s something to watch moving forward.

While Oklahoma City’s starting lineup for Friday’s game likely aligns with the group that will be on the floor for its regular-season opener, that is not the case for the Nuggets. Johnson is the only player in Friday’s lineup who’s expected to be in the starting five when the regular season begins, with the other four being part of the bench rotation. He’s still getting acclimated to his new teammates, which may be why Johnson will play on Friday.

Brown and Hawkins will remain out for Sunday’s season finale, with the latter missing New Orleans’ final eight games. The Pelicans did not have Zion Williamson for Saturday’s game, so Brown remained in the starting lineup. While he did not record a complete stat line, the points, rebounds and assists were reminiscent of what Brown was able to do during his run with the Nuggets during the 2022-23 campaign. Bruce can be a valuable player to have rostered when allowed to play starters’ minutes, and the same can be said for Kelly Olynyk. He logged 31 minutes, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, seven assists and one steal. The Pelicans play four games during Week 20, with Olynyk having a slight edge on Brown since he’s more likely to remain a starter.
