Ball had two points, six rebounds and five assists in 22 minutes off the bench against the Spurs on Friday. The 28-year-old point guard will sit out the second game of a back-to-back against the Warriors for injury management reasons. His absence impacts the Cavaliers rotation, but isn’t significant for fantasy basketball.

Ball is back after a two-game absence, and he’ll provide additional depth on the perimeter behind starting Darius Garland. With Garland available, Ball is in a spot where he offers limited fantasy value.

Ball has missed Cleveland’s last two games, freeing up additional minutes for Craig Porter Jr. and Tyrese Proctor. However, they also benefitted from the absence of Darius Garland on Monday, so even fewer minutes will be available to Porter and Proctor if Ball plays.

Sunday’s game is the first of two in as many nights for the Cavaliers, so Lonzo missing one of them is unsurprising. If available, Craig Porter Jr. will have the opportunity to pick up a few additional minutes off the bench. Still, that won’t be enough to affect fantasy basketball.

On the second game of a back-to-back, Ball will replace Darius Garland (toe) in the Cavaliers’ opening unit, and Larry Nance Jr. will also enter the starting lineup for Jarrett Allen (finger). The Cavs enter Monday’s contest with the same 12-6 record as the Raptors, who currently occupy the second spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Like Cleveland, Toronto is also on the second day of a back-to-back, after defeating the Nets on Sunday.

Sunday’s game is the first of two in as many nights for the Cavaliers, so Ball will not play. With Craig Porter Jr. also out, head coach Kenny Atkinson may look to stagger the minutes of starters Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell to ensure that one of those two is on the floor at all times.

Ball sat out the second leg of Cleveland’s back-to-back on Thursday, but he’ll be back to take on Memphis. He started on Wednesday with Donovan Mitchell getting a rest night, but Ball should return to playing a reserve role against the Grizzlies.

Ball isn’t injured, but the Cavaliers are just being cautious with the health of their players with so many games this week. Donovan Mitchell was given a day off on Wednesday, but now that he will return on Thursday, Ball will take a seat for a game.

Ball started the first leg of the Cavaliers’ back-to-back, which means he will sit out for the second game. Donovan Mitchell was given a day off on Wednesday, but he will return on Thursday and occupy his typical spot in the starting unit.

Ball had a nice offensive outing against the Heat. He was productive and efficient from beyond the arc, and made sure to get his teammates involved by utilizing his facilitating skills — the three-point shooting led to a season-high in points, and he tied a season-high in assists. Ball will likely return to the bench once Donovan Mitchell (rest) and Darius Garland (toe) return to the lineup. Nonetheless, he showed that he is still a productive player when given the minutes.

The Cavs’ opening lineup in the rematch against the Heat will exclude several notable players, including Donovan Mitchell (rest), Evan Mobley (rest), and Darius Garland (toe). The absence of three regular starters will open the door for several players to step up and make an impact. Aside from those players joining the starting lineup on Wednesday, Jaylon Tyson is a player who could be a good streaming option in fantasy leagues.

Ball will miss Friday’s game, which is the first leg of a back-to-back, meaning he should be back to play on Saturday against the Bulls. Jaylon Tyson and Sam Merrill should take on extra reserve minutes with Ball unavailable.

Already without Darius Garland (toe), the Cavaliers will not have Donovan Mitchell (hamstring) or Jarrett Allen (finger) for Friday’s game. They’ll be replaced in the lineup by Ball, who’s already rostered in 13 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and Wade. Both players are worth considering in deep leagues, with Ball being the priority addition. Also worth a look is Craig Porter Jr., as Ball won’t be asked to take on a starter’s workload.

Unsurprisingly, Ball will not play in Monday’s game after logging 23 minutes off the bench in Sunday’s win over the Bucks. Craig Porter Jr. should assume the backup point guard responsibilities, boosting his playing time. Also, rookie Tyrese Proctor could re-enter the rotation after picking up a DNP-CD on Sunday. Neither player qualifies as a must-stream option, especially on an 11-game night.

Unfortunately for Ball, he’s going to be on minutes restriction due to his injury history to begin the season. With Darius Garland (toe) possibly unavailable to start the year, Ball is an option to pick up the slack with 20 minutes off the bench at a time. While the minutes restriction undoubtedly caps Ball’s fantasy upside, the Cavaliers’ offense is good enough for him to produce. He showed as much by nearly recording a double-double in 20 minutes against the Pistons on Tuesday. Ball is a late-round flyer at best in fantasy basketball drafts.

Due to Ball’s injury history, Monday’s report that he’ll be under a minutes restriction to begin the season is unsurprising. As for back-to-backs, Cleveland will play its first on October 26-27, the team’s third and fourth games of the regular season. Ball, acquired from the Bulls in late June, has dealt with knee issues and injured his wrist late last season. With Darius Garland (toe) not a lock to be available to start the regular season, some pinpointed Ball as a potential late-round option as he helps fill the void. However, the minutes limit lowers his fantasy ceiling in the short term. Look for Craig Porter Jr. to be in the mix for rotation minutes early on if Garland cannot play.

Injuries have limited Lonzo in recent seasons, but he’s still an impactful player when he’s on the floor. Now, he’ll be a strong reserve playmaking option behind Darius Garland. Ball’s addition likely means that Ty Jerome will sign elsewhere in free agency after being one of the best bench options in the league last season. Ball’s departure should also open up minutes for Ayo Dosunmu off the bench as the primary reserve in the backcourt. Reports from April indicated that Ball should be ready to go for training camp after missing the final two months of last season with a wrist injury.

Ball said he is excited for his “first normal offseason in awhile.” He has been plagued by numerous injuries but was able to play 35 games during the 2024-25 season after not playing at all during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Ball was sidelined for all of March and April, but since he won’t require any procedure during the offseason, he should be ready to go for training camp.

Chicago would have to win two play-in tournament games to reach the postseason, beginning with Wednesday’s matchup with the Heat. Ball has not appeared in a game since February 28, and the Bulls have been without two rotation point guards, Tre Jones being the other, since March 20. Kevin Huerter has been the third starter on the perimeter for the Bulls, with Josh Giddey and Coby White being the top playmakers. Given the time Ball has missed, he’s unlikely to play significant minutes if Chicago can advance and face Cleveland in the first round.

Sidelined since February, Ball will resume basketball activities on Monday. However, he’s unlikely to be available for Wednesday’s play-in tournament matchup with the Heat. If Chicago can advance, they will play the Atlanta/Orlando loser on Friday for the eighth seed in the East. Kevin Huerter has started in Ball’s absence and should continue to do so.

Ball will miss Sunday’s regular season finale and has not appeared in a game since February. The question is whether or not he’ll be available for Chicago’s play-in tournament matchup with Miami. Kevin Huerter will remain the starter, and the change has raised Red Velvet’s fantasy ceiling. However, since the Bulls are locked into the nine-seed, he may not play starters’ minutes on Sunday.

Ball hasn’t played since February, so his absence for the regular season finale doesn’t come as a surprise. It’s unclear if he’ll be able to return for the Play-In Tournament, so we may not see Ball play against until the 2025-26 season.

Ball last appeared in a game on February 28. Unlike the last two games, when the Bulls initially listed him as questionable, Lonzo is “out” on the injury report for Tuesday. With Coby White ruled out and Josh Giddey questionable, the Bulls could be severely shorthanded regarding on-ball playmakers. Talen Horton-Tucker is the player to watch, as he could figure prominently in the rotation if Giddey does not play.

This is the second-straight game that Ball will initially be listed as questionable. Though he missed Friday’s game against Portland, there is certainly a chance that he is back to play against Charlotte. In that scenario, Kevin Huerter and Talen Horton-Tucker would likely lose out on minutes, with Huerter potentially being pushed back to the bench.

According to Bulls coach Billy Donovan, there are still some things that Ball cannot do because of his wrist injury. While hope remains that he’ll return soon, that will not happen on Friday. Kevin Huerter will continue to start until that changes, and he’s worth streaming in deep leagues.

Ball hasn’t played since February, but there is a chance that he suits up against Portland. Due to the lengthy layoff, Ball’s role will likely be limited, which means he may not return to the starting unit in his first game back. Kevin Huerter and Talen Horton-Tucker may lose out on a few minutes if Ball returns.
