Friday’s absence will mark the third straight for Bryant, who continues to battle a calf issue. The Cavs will also be without starting center Jarrett Allen, leaving their frontcourt depth fairly thin. Larry Nance Jr. could see an increase in minutes as a result of the injuries.

While Bryant did appear to be a bit banged up during Sunday’s win over the Pacers, he returned to action after a brief period on the bench. He has since been diagnosed with a strained left calf, the kind of injury that can sideline a player for multiple games. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are back after not playing on Sunday, so they can absorb Bryant’s minutes.

The Cavaliers were without Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen on Sunday, so Bryant was able to make his first start of the season. And he played well, recording his first double-double since February 6, 2025 as a member of the Pacers. Keon Ellis also made a spot start on Sunday, finishing with 13 points (5-of-9 FGs), five rebounds, one steal and three three-pointers.

Bryant - a 2023 champion with the Nuggets - operated as a key backup center for the Pacers during their run to last season’s Finals, and he’ll bring that playoff experience with him to Cleveland. While Tony Bradley (hip) dressed for Game 6, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle opted to replace him in the rotation with Thomas Bryant. It was one of those coaching decisions that die-hard Pacers fans will remember for years to come. Bryant only played 13 minutes in Game 6, but he caught fire hitting three three-pointers and blocking a shot in the second half. Bryant’s contributions gave the Pacers a lift in closing out the Knicks in the second half of Game 6.

With Myles Turner sidelined with an illness, Bryant made a return to the starting unit. While he has generally been productive as a starter this season, this was one of his quieter performances. The opportunity was too good for managers to pass up, but it was a disappointing night. If Turner remains out against the Hornets on Wednesday, Bryant should get another start and have a much better matchup than trying to deal with Domantas Sabonis on the glass.

Nembhard will be the only usual starter for Indiana as Tyrese Haliburton, Aaron Nesmith, Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner are all sidelined for this game. The four new starters should all be worth streaming on Monday, though it is unlikely that this is a long-term absence for any of the typical starters that are sidelined.
