Carlson got a second straight start, and he was incredibly productive in both. He contributed 49 points, 22 rebounds, six blocks and eight triples as a starter over the last two games. Carlson is on a two-way deal, and he spent most of the season in the G League. With Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein both healthy, Carlson won’t see the floor much outside of blowouts during the playoffs.

Carlson has appeared in 72 games over the last two seasons with the Thunder, but hasn’t distinguished himself very much in his 9.1 minutes per game. That changed on Friday as he played 37 minutes and had a great game against the Nuggets. Carlson had 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. He’s still buried on the depth chart when the Thunder’s regulars are healthy and active.

With Isaiah Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams out due to injury, Carlson has picked up rotation minutes over the last three games. After a solid effort in Wednesday’s blowout of the Trail Blazers, the second-year center recorded his second career double-double on Friday. While one must not read too much into what Carlson did against a depleted Warriors roster, all he can do is play against the players on the floor. There’s no need to add him right now, but he’s worth watching in the short term.

The Thunder are without their top three big men, as Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams are out due to injury. As a result, Carlson will make his first start as an NBA player. Given Oklahoma City’s lack of healthy post players and the Grizzlies not having Zach Edey, Carlson is worth a roll of the dice in deep leagues.

Carlson spent last season on a two-way deal with the Thunder, and this was the first Summer League game he suited up for. In limited action, Carlson was dominant. Already playing without Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein, the Thunder lost Jaylin Williams to a strained oblique during the first half of Sunday’s game. The result was even more playing time for Carlson, who had the best day of his NBA career. Not only did the rookie record season highs in points and rebounds, but this was also his first double-double. Unlike Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe, Carlson will not be in the Thunder playoff rotation, even if Williams misses time. But he undoubtedly made a positive impression with his play in New Orleans.
