Cunningham simply refused to let the Pistons lose to the Wizards on Monday night. The 24-year-old point guard helped the shorthanded Pistons improve to 9-2 with a 46-point triple-double. Cunningham joined Michael Jordan as the only players ever to have at least 40 points in a triple-double and also record five steals. He put the team on his back while the Pistons deal with a laundry list of injuries. Detroit has two more games this week, the first coming on Wednesday against the Bulls.

While Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey may have outscored him in Sunday’s exciting duel, Cunningham did enough to ensure his team left with the win. He shot 8-of-11 from the field after halftime, including a fourth-quarter poster dunk and a turnaround jumper that gave the Pistons a three-point lead with 16.9 seconds remaining. Detroit, which has won six straight, is off to its best start to a season in 20 years, and Cunningham has led the way. The Pistons play three games during Week 4, but none after Friday.

Cunningham was fantastic in Friday’s win. He tallied at least 30 points for the third straight game and was one of two Pistons to hit that scoring mark against the Nets. Cunningham also notched double-digit assists for the second straight game en route to consecutive double-doubles. The fifth-year guard remains on fire from a production point and continues to add to his strong start to the fantasy basketball season. He’ll have a chance to land a third consecutive 30-point double-double on Sunday against the 76ers.

Cunningham struggled with 12 points in a loss to the Cavaliers on October 27, but since then he’s led the Pistons to a four-game winning streak. In those four games, the 24-year-old point guard has scored at least 30 points three times and had a career-high 18 assists in the other game. Cunningham and the Pistons have put the 2-2 start to the season behind them. They’ll look for another big game from Cunningham and a victory against the Nets on the road Friday.

Any slow start to the season is certainly behind Cunningham at this point. Over the last three games, he is averaging 28.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 12.0 assists, 2.0 steals, 1.3 blocks and 2.0 three-pointers while shooting 51.7 percent from the floor. He set a career-high for assists in his last game and set a season-high for points in this one. Cunningham is on a tear, which has led to Detroit’s three-game win streak. He’ll look to stay hot against the Wizards on Wednesday.

Saturday’s game in Mexico City was the “Cade and Jalen Show,” as Cunningham and starting center Jalen Duren were dominant for the Pistons. Cade matched his career-high with 18 assists and only committed one turnover. Cunningham’s two issues from a fantasy standpoint thus far have been turnovers and field goal percentage, as he’s averaging 3.8 turnovers and shooting 40.2 percent from the field. Neither was an issue on Saturday, allowing the Pistons to pull away down the stretch.

Cunningham joined the likes of LeBron James and Nikola Jokic as players with at least 30 points, at least 10 assists, at least three steals and at least three blocks in a game in the last 20 years. It’s perhaps even more impressive that the 24-year-old point guard had a great game after having arguably the worst game he’s had as a professional against the Cavaliers on Monday. Cunningham and the Pistons were able to bounce back for a much-needed win. Expect the team to go as far as he takes them this year.

Cunningham had gotten off to a strong start this season, but not much went right for him and the Pistons in Monday’s loss. He was held to a season low in both points and assists in what ended up being a game they’ll want to move on from quickly. They’ll look to bounce back on Wednesday against a Magic squad that just gave up a combined 94 points to Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and Kelly Oubre Jr.

As expected, Cunningham will suit up after initially being listed as probable. He had 25 points and eight assists in a win over the Celtics on Sunday, and the Pistons will need Cade at his best in this battle of 2-1 teams.

Despite dealing with hip and facial contusions, Cunningham is on track to be available for Monday’s game. He’s played in all three of Detroit’s games thus far, averaging a career-high 37.0 minutes. Fantasy managers should plan for Cunningham to occupy his usual place in the starting lineup.

Cunningham turned the ball over another six times, giving him 14 turnovers in the last two games. While the turnovers are certainly a concern for fantasy managers, it hasn’t stopped Cunningham from being an effective offensive player or the Pistons from winning. Fantasy managers might just have to learn to live with Cunningham’s penchant for turnovers and factor that in for their team builds.

Cunningham wasn’t particularly efficient in this one, but got the job done against the Rockets. The 24-year-old point guard had 21 points on 16 shots and nine assists with eight turnovers. Cunningham was able to trust his teammates, who had a much better shooting night overall than in the season opener against the Bulls. He’ll look to have a better individual game against the Celtics on Sunday in the Pistons’ home opener.

Cunningham struggled in the season opener against the Bulls. The 24-year-old point guard had just 23 points on 24 shots. Cunningham did record a double-double as he recorded 10 assists, but he also had three turnovers and fouled out of the game. Cunningham will have more efficient games this season, but his 24 field goal attempts show how much the Pistons need his scoring without Malik Beasley and Jaden Ivey (knee).

While Cunningham was efficient in his scoring, his playmaking stood out in Thursday’s preseason finale. Last season, he reached double figures in assists 31 times, and the star point guard did so against the Wizards while committing only two turnovers. Of the 31 games he dished out at least 10 assists last season, Cunningham recorded two turnovers or fewer on two occasions. The turnovers won’t make Cunningham a player to avoid in fantasy drafts; he should be a first-round pick in standard formats. But cleaning up that category would raise his ceiling.

Cunningham, who did not play in the Pistons’ most recent game, is back in the lineup for Thursday’s preseason finale. The player to watch is Robinson, who may be on track to begin the regular season as a starter. Jaden Ivey (knee) underwent an arthroscopic procedure that will sideline him for at least four weeks, opening up a place within the starting five. Robinson also started Tuesday’s loss to Cleveland, potentially a sign that the starting job will be his when the regular season begins next week.

Based on his performances in Detroit’s first two preseason games, Cunningham could be in for a massive 2025-26. Thursday night, he only needed 19 minutes to do his damage, playing efficiently as a scorer and playmaker for his teammates. Detroit did not have its full rotation in Milwaukee, as Jalen Duren, Jaden Ivey and Tobias Harris were all inactive. Yet that did not keep Cunningham from having another excellent outing. Turnovers have been an issue in the past, lowering his value in nine-cat formats. But managers competing in eight-cat leagues should not hesitate to select Cunningham with a first-round pick.

Less than a month after the Pistons’ 2024-25 campaign concluded, Pistons lead executive Trajan Langdon told Cunningham that he wanted the franchise cornerstone to be in “elite shape” this season. He looked sharp in Monday’s preseason opener, taking over in the second quarter to spearhead a 40-9 Pistons run. He’s receiving first-round attention in fantasy drafts and with good reason, as Cunningham played a career-high 70 games last season. As long as Cunningham stays healthy, he can provide top-10 fantasy value regardless of league format.

Langdon’s words, which were told to Cunningham directly during his exit meeting before the executive discussed the matter with the media, should not be seen as an indictment of the Pistons’ point guard. He played in a career-high 70 games in 2024-25, leading Detroit to its first postseason appearance since 2019. Expectations will rise for Cunningham and the Pistons, meaning he has to be even better in the future. “The big thing for him, and we talked to him about it, get into elite shape,” Langdon said, according to the Detroit News. “He is incredibly skilled and talented. He understands the leadership of it. He now has a little bit of late-season and playoff experience, he knows how it feels. So, now, he has an understanding of what he is training for in the summer. If you have never experienced playoff basketball, you don’t understand the level you have to go to. He should be training for the first and second rounds of the playoffs. Not just Game 45 (of the regular season) anymore.” Entering this season with a Yahoo! ADP of 27, Cunningham was a top-10 player in eight-cat formats. He’ll likely come off the board during the second round of standard league drafts, which is reasonable for a player of his caliber.

While Cunningham led the Pistons in scoring with 23 points, he didn’t have his best game offensively in what was a must-win game for the Pistons. He was more successful on drives to the basket, while his three-point shooting left much to be desired. Only Malik Beasley had more than one three-pointer for Detroit, with Cunningham missing all eight of his three-point attempts. It was a frustrating end to what was ultimately an inspiring season from both Cunningham and the Pistons as a team.

Cunningham did not have the most efficient night, shooting well below 50 percent from the field and committing five turnovers. However, he made frequent visits to the foul line to boost the point total, and the Pistons’ improved ball control overall factored into their win on Tuesday. Cunningham still recorded a complete stat line, but he has committed at least five turnovers in all five games of the series. Thanks to their victory, the Pistons get another chance to face the Knicks at home, with Game 6 scheduled for Thursday night.

Cunningham recorded a complete stat line in Game 3, but the Knicks did a better job of making him work for his offense than in Game 2. He shot 40 percent from the field, which isn’t terrible, but he also had six turnovers on the night. To avoid falling into a 3-1 hole on Sunday, the Pistons will need Cunningham to be at his best. And overall, he’s played exceptionally well in his first postseason appearance.

After contributing 21 points and 12 assists in his playoff debut, Cunningham focused more on scoring in his second playoff game, which led to him getting his first postseason victory. The 2021 No. 1 overall pick accounted for nearly one-third of his teams points and contributed to more with his playmaking. He didn’t match his 12 dimes from Saturday, but Cunningham took control to lead the franchise to their first playoff win since 2008. The series will head to Detroit for the next two games, with Game 3 coming on Thursday.

Cunningham recorded a double-double in his playoff debut, but this was far from a smooth performance for the Pistons’ point guard. Guarded by OG Anunoby for most of Game 1, Cade shot under 50 percent from the field and committed six turnovers. Also, he and the Pistons appeared powerless to stop what would become a 21-0 Knicks run to open the fourth quarter. Now that Cunningham has a taste of the postseason, he’ll look to rebound on Monday when the Pistons and Knicks meet again in Game 2.

Cunningham, who was listed as probable until 30 minutes before this game started, was downgraded to questionable and then ruled out shortly after. The East standings are already set, so Cunningham wouldn’t have played much if he was available. Marcus Sasser will start in his place for the regular season finale.

Sunday’s game has no impact on Detroit’s playoff seeding, so Cunningham’s listing as probable on the initial injury report was surprising. He’s been downgraded to questionable; even if Cade plays, fantasy managers in active leagues should not expect to see him play starters’ minutes. Expect to see a lot of Marcus Sasser in Milwaukee.

Cunningham is probable for Sunday’s game, but fantasy managers in active leagues should not expect too much from him. Friday’s loss to Milwaukee locked the Pistons into the sixth seed in the East, and they’ll face the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. Ensuring Cunningham is healthy for next weekend is far more critical than him playing starters’ minutes on Sunday.

Cunningham had one of his most efficient scoring games of the year as he dropped 36 points on 21 shots against the Bucks Friday. The 23-year-old point guard did it all for the Pistons once again, dishing out 12 assists on his way to a double-double. Cade has put up 36 points in back-to-back games. Despite missing time with a calf issue in previous weeks, he seems to be feeling good with the Pistons one game away from a playoff series.

Cunningham returned to the Pistons’ lineup on Saturday after missing six games with a calf injury. While the shot was a bit off, he finished one steal shy of a complete stat line. Interestingly, Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff kept Dennis Schroder in the starting lineup, moving Malik Beasley to the bench instead. Schroder (10/2/4 with two three-pointers) was able to preserve some of his fantasy value, and there wasn’t much change for Beasley (11 points, three rebounds, one steal and three three-pointers), either. How long Schroder remains in the starting lineup depends on Tobias Harris, who did not play on Saturday due to a heel injury.

Cunningham is back in the Pistons’ lineup after a six-game absence, pushing Malik Beasley to the bench. However, that isn’t the only change to the starting five. Jalen Duren (leg) is out, resulting in Isaiah Stewart starting his first game back from a two-game suspension. Tim Hardway Jr., Dennis Schroder and Ausar Thompson complete the starting five.
