Wizards fans who began Sunday hoping to see their team strengthen their odds of landing the first overall pick in this summer’s draft may not have been thrilled with Carrington’s heroics. However, it was a nice end to a difficult season for the rookie guard. Bub didn’t shoot the ball well in Miami but made the decisive play when it mattered most. Carrington also made some history on Sunday, becoming the first Wizards rookie to play all 82 games since Jeff Ruland in 1981-82. Carrington made 57 starts this season; holding onto that role would raise Bub’s fantasy ceiling in 2025-26, but he’ll need to shoot better than 40.3 percent from the floor to be a useful fantasy player.

The rookie set a new career-high for assists on his way to the second point-assist double-double of his career. Carrington has scored in double figures in each of his last six games and has had at least six assists in six of his last seven games. The 2024 lottery pick has had a strong rookie season and will wrap things up in Miami on Sunday. Depending on how the draft lottery shakes out, Carrington could be an intriguing option heading into next season.

Carrington had a rough night from beyond the arc, making just one of his eight attempts. Those struggles negatively impacted his overall field-goal percentage, but the rookie did record six assists without committing a turnover. While Jordan Poole (15/2/5 with two three-pointers) continues to start, Carrington’s place in the lineup is secure, and he’s playing heavy minutes. For those whose leagues will be active during Week 23, Bub is worth the risk in deeper formats.

Carrington went off for a career-high 32 points against the Magic Thursday. The 19-year-old rookie had only one previous game with at least 20 points, which came when he scored 23 points on February 8 against the Hawks. Carrington took full advantage of Jordan Poole and Khris Middleton being out of the lineup and was a great streaming option on a night with only six games across the league.

After struggling in 38 minutes on the floor in Monday’s blowout loss to the Heat, Carrington was better against the Kings. Shooting just under 50 percent from the field, the rookie’s 19 points were the most in a game for him since February 8. Over the past two weeks, Carrington has been ranked just outside the top 150 in eight-cat formats, as shooting 36.7 percent from the field has not done him any favors. For managers who can afford to take a hit in that category, Carrington playing starters’ minutes improves his chances of having another night like Wednesday before the season ends.

The last few games for Carrington have been subpar, so it was good to see him get back on track in this one. He recorded the third point-rebound double-double of his career and set a new career-high for rebounds. He was also able to score in double figures after scoring a total of 15 points over his last four games. Carrington has shown plenty of upside during his first year in the NBA, and he won’t turn 20 until after this upcoming Summer League. He certainly has a bright future in Washington.

Middleton is back after sitting out Saturday’s loss to the Knicks. However, his return does not mean Carrington will head to the bench. Instead, Justin Champagnie will be used in a reserve role, which lowers his fantasy ceiling. However, he will remain in the rotation and play quality minutes.

Saturday’s game is the second in as many nights for the Wizards, who lost to the Magic on Friday. Khris Middleton is unavailable for the matchup with the Knicks, opening up a spot in the starting lineup for Carrington. Not only is the rookie worth streaming, but he’s also worth holding onto in deep leagues for the rest of the season. Playing time should not be an issue for Bub as the Wizards look to develop their youngsters further.

Carrington returned to playing a reserve role after being back in the starting lineup for just one game. His best performances have typically come as a starter, but he was productive on Tuesday. His 15 points were tied for the most that he has had when coming off the bench. While managers will be hoping to see Carrington start more during “silly season”, it was encouraging to see him play well as a reserve in this game.

With Khris Middleton (ankle) sidelined for the first leg of Washington’s back-to-back, Carrington will make a return to the starting lineup. The Wizards will play in Detroit on Tuesday, so Carrington will likely be pushed back to the bench for that game, though he has been productive as a starter.

Carrington has started the last few games with Jordan Poole out with an elbow injury. While the move into the starting lineup certainly raises the 19-year-old point guard’s ceiling, he hasn’t quite reached it yet. Carrington had a solid but unspectacular 12 points and nine assists against the Jazz Wednesday. He can be counted on for assists when given increased opportunity, but his scoring leaves much to be desired.

With Jordan Poole sidelined, Carrington will slide into the starting unit in his place. Sarr also returns to the starting lineup after missing Washington’s last three games. That will push Richaun Holmes back to the bench, which will eliminate the streaming value that he held.
