Claxton was one of three Nets players to reach double figures in scoring on a night in which the team shot just 42.5 percent from the field. Additionally, he led Brooklyn in rebounding and finished as the only player on the team to record at least one blocked shot and one steal. While his rebounding numbers are slightly down, the seventh-year center is posting career-highs in points and assists per game. His spot in the rotation likely won’t be threatened with the Nets’ current roster construction, leaving him as a potential double-double threat on a nightly basis.

Claxton was outstanding on Wednesday, helping lead the Nets to their first win of the season after seven consecutive defeats. Over his last four games, the Nets center has averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.8 blocks while shooting 67.5 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from the foul line. For managers punting free-throw percentage, Claxton has been a top-20 player during this stretch. He’s still rostered in 46 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which is too low.

Claxton has been one of the few bright spots for the 0-7 Nets, especially over the last three games. He’s scored 18 points or more in each, including consecutive 19-point efforts against the 76ers and Timberwolves. Monday’s stat line included seven assists, the most in a game for Claxton since recording a career-high 10 dimes in a March 6 game against the Warriors. Over his last two games, Nic has recorded 12 assists and four turnovers, an excellent margin for a center.

While Claxton did not record his second double-double in as many games, he had his most productive all-around performance on Sunday. After blocking one shot total in Brooklyn’s first five games, he recorded three against the 76ers. Fantasy managers are accustomed to punting free-throw percentage when rostering Claxton, but the hope is that he’ll bring more to the table as a shot-blocker. Hopefully, Sunday’s performance is a sign that he’ll be able to do that consistently.

Claxton recorded his first double-double of the season on Wednesday, and rebounding has been a struggle for the 6-foot-11 center. He’s averaging 6.6 boards per game through five appearances, but that number is boosted by Wednesday’s effort and a nine-rebound performance against the Cavaliers on October 24. In his other three games, Claxton grabbed five rebounds or fewer. Claxton is a player that fantasy managers draft with the expectation that they’ll have to punt free-throw percentage, not rebounds.

Claxton shot the ball well on Sunday, but he had to deal with foul trouble. Taking on San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama is never easy, but the good news for Claxton is that he’ll only see the phenom once more this season. After a disappointing 2024-25 season, the Nets center is ranked just outside the top-100 in nine-cat formats through three games. The biggest surprise is that Claxton has yet to block a shot after averaging at least one per game in his previous five seasons.

There’s no sugarcoating the fact that the 2024-25 season was a disappointment for Claxton, who started slowly and finished with decreased averages in points, rebounds and blocked shots. With this being the second year of the four-year deal he signed in the summer of 2024, maybe some of the pressure will be off of Claxton, especially with it being understood that the Nets are rebuilding. He remains a superior option for managers willing to punt on free-throw percentage, but the rebounds and blocked shots need to improve after they dipped last season.

After a disappointing start to the season, Claxton was able to redeem himself steadily. The Nets center finished as a seventh-round player in free-throw punt builds, which is only one round worse than his Yahoo! ADP. That said, Claxton’s rebounding and blocked shot production decreased, with the averages of 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks being the lowest for him since the 2021-22 campaign. He’ll remain a key building block for the Nets next season, but the team is undoubtedly hoping that he’ll be more effective on the glass and as a defender.

Claxton is back after sitting out Friday’s loss to the Timberwolves. While Precious Achiuwa should be a good matchup for him, fantasy managers in active leagues should assume Claxton will not log starters’ minutes in the regular-season finale. Johnson, Watford and Wilson offer decent fantasy ceilings for Sunday’s loaded schedule.

Claxton got the night off on Friday but will be back for the season finale. He should return to the starting center role, which will push Drew Timme to a reserve role. However, with Day’Ron Sharpe and Noah Clowney sidelined, Timme should still play plenty of minutes.

Claxton will be available after sitting out Tuesday’s loss to the Raptors for rest reasons. His return means Drew Timme will head to the bench, with the rookie losing some fantasy value. However, Timme will continue to play rotation minutes, especially with Day’Ron Sharpe (knee) still sidelined.

Claxton and Russell’s absences open up two spots in the Nets’ starting lineup for Sunday’s game. Drew Timme is a possible replacement for the former, while Tyrese Martin could be asked to fill in for the latter. Whoever starts will be worth streaming in deep leagues, even with Sunday’s schedule consisting of 11 games.

Claxton got last Saturday off for rest before returning Monday against the Mavericks, though he had just six points in 27 minutes. The 25-year-old center had a much better effort against the Timberwolves Thursday as he scored 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field. Claxton started and played 24 minutes, though Drew Timme came off the bench and also played 24 minutes. Claxton should continue to start when available, but it appears he’s ceding some minutes to Timme.

Claxton got Saturday off to rest on the second leg of a back-to-back set, but he’ll return on Monday and presumably handle a typical workload. His return could mean less playing time for Drew Timme, but Timme could continue to see meaningful minutes off the bench.

Claxton will get the night of on the second leg of Brooklyn’s back-to-back. Noah Clowney is questionable with an illness, so the Nets could be incredibly shorthanded down low. Drew Timme had a double-double in his NBA debut on Friday, and he could start at center with Claxton sidelined, unless Clowney plays and Brooklyn opts for a smaller starting unit.

Claxton was the only Nets standout in Wednesday’s 30-point defeat, and his value has increased in recent weeks. Over the past two weeks, the Nets center has provided top-60 value to managers punting turnovers and free throw percentage. While the season has not panned out the way many Claxton managers hoped it would, he’s been solid during the fantasy playoff weeks. However, with the Nets concluding Week 21 with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back, it’s possible Claxton missed a game for rest reasons.

Claxton entered Monday shooting 1-of-16 from three on the season. Against the Mavericks, he made both of his attempts and shot 8-of-11 from the field. The points, rebounds and blocks are more reliable, so fantasy managers should not expect to see Nic turn into a face-up five overnight. However, with the Nets well out of the postseason race, these final games may be used as a testing ground for Claxton. We’ll see if he becomes more willing to take perimeter shots after Monday’s 2-of-2 effort from three.

Claxton is set to rest while Thomas continues to manage a hamstring injury. With Noah Clowney (ankle) also ruled out, the Nets will be severely undermanned. Expect Day’Ron Sharpe to play heavy minutes and be worth streaming consideration.

The lack of blocks was uncharacteristic for Claxton, but he was still able have an excellent night, specifically as a passer. He wasn’t able to match his 10 assists on Tuesday, but it was still encouraging to see Jordi Fernandez continue to go to him as a playmaker. Of course, the points and rebounds were the best part of his night, and he did take on a few extra minutes at center with Noah Clowney sidelined, which helped the slight bump in production. This was Claxton’s first double-double since before the All-Star break, and he’ll have two more opportunities to add more this week.

Who anticipated this? Claxton, whose previous career-high for assists was six, dished out 10 dimes and nearly recorded a triple-double in Thursday’s loss. Claxton has been a strong category league player over the last few seasons because of his contributions in rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage, and managers shouldn’t expect Claxton to continue to be a reliable source of assists. Still, it was a fun boost on Thursday and encouraging for his overall value, especially if Jordi Fernandez does continue to use him as a playmaking option.
