Clowney has been an effective scoring option as a starter for the Nets, and that trend continued in this game. He has started the last six games for Brooklyn and has scored in double figures in five of those. This was a subpar shooting performance from him, with half his points coming from the free throw line and the other half coming from beyond the arc. Still, his starting spot feels safe, and he has an intriguing matchup coming up on Sunday to close out the week.

Clowney set a new season-high in points for the third consecutive game on Friday, once again using the three-point shot to do so. A huge 13-point opening quarter set Clowney up for the high-scoring performance, but his six points on 1-of-6 shooting the rest of the way stopped the young forward from seeing an even greater scoring total. Still, he was productive against the Pistons and continues to perform well for the Nets this season.

Porter is back in the lineup after missing Monday’s game for personal reasons. However, his return bumps Tyrese Martin to the bench, while Noah Clowney remains in the starting five. If Clowney can retain that role for the foreseeable future, he’ll be worth a look in deeper leagues.

With Michael Porter Jr. (personal) unavailable, Clowney made his first start of the season on Monday. And he wasn’t bashful, putting up 12 three-point attempts and making four. The points, rebounds, steals and three-pointers were solid, with Clowney providing some value to the few adventurous souls who streamed him. In the short term, his value depends on Porter’s availability. However, with the Nets now 0-7, Clowney should definitely be on your “silly season” radar.

The Nets won’t have Michael Porter Jr. for Monday’s game, as he is away from the team for personal reasons. Brooklyn will go big, inserting Clowney into the starting lineup. While a capable pick-and-pop option, things haven’t necessarily clicked consistently for the 2023 first-round pick. Look for Ziaire Williams and Jalen Wilson to pick up additional minutes off the bench.

Essengue got his first taste of preseason action on Tuesday night after Chicago selected him with the 12th pick this summer. It wasn’t a spectacular debut, and Billy Donovan didn’t get him in the game early; he only ended up playing 14 minutes. He may have to work for his spot in the rotation, but Essengue will be worth keeping tabs on during his rookie year.

Despite suffering a right quad contusion during Saturday’s loss to the Kings, Essengue was in the starting lineup on Monday. And the first-round pick played well against the Pacers, shooting 50 percent from the field overall and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. With Matas Buzelis likely done for the summer, there may be an opportunity for Essengue to show what he can do as the top scoring option. That is, if he isn’t also sidelined for the rest of the week.

Essengue’s Saturday evening ended painfully, as he suffered a right quad contusion during the third quarter. The first-round pick played 19 minutes, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot. Essengue’s fantasy prospects for the 2025-26 season depend somewhat on Patrick Williams, who has failed to provide consistent production throughout his Bulls career. Even if he does not offer much fantasy value as a rookie, Essengue will be worth having in dynasty leagues.

As one of the youngest prospects in this class, Essengue is an intriguing two-way talent. He stands 6'10" without shoes and has nearly a 7'1" wingspan, which will help him contribute defensively early on.. There isn’t a ton of offensive creation in his game at this point, but he can still find ways to make an impact, especially as a cutter. In 59 games for Ratiopharm Ulm this season, Essengue averaged 10.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22.9 minutes per game. His postseason performance featured plenty of highs and lows, which isn’t surprising for an 18-year-old playing professionally. There will likely be more of the same during his rookie year. Due to his physical measurements and positional versatility, Essengue’s draft prospects improved throughout the process. Joining Chicago, he’ll look to form a wing partnership with Matas Buzelis, the Bulls’ first-round pick in 2024.

Brooklyn is shutting down Clowney for the year. The big man’s latest ankle injury won’t allow him to play in any of his team’s remaining games. Trendon Watford and Drew Timme can take advantage of Clowney’s absence.

The Nets are without D’Angelo Russell and Nic Claxton, opening up two spots in the starting lineup. Martin will replace Russell, which also raises Keon Johnson’s fantasy ceiling. As for Claxton, he’ll be replaced in the lineup by Clowney, who is a must-stream player, especially with Day’Ron Sharpe also out.

Clowney had been dealing with a wrist injury, but an illness could keep him sidelined on the second night of a back-to-back. With Nic Claxton (rest) sidelined, Clowney will likely start at center if he is available to play. Drew Timme, who had a double-double in his NBA debut on Friday, could be forced to play a massive role if Clowney is ruled out.

Clowney joins Day’Ron Sharpe on the sideline for Friday’s game, which means more playing time for Trendon Watford. He’ll be worth streaming in deep leagues due to the Nets’ lack of options. Also, Drew Timme is available to make his Nets debut, but he would not be worth streaming.

Clowney was initially probable, but now his chances of playing on Friday are truly up in the air. Day’Ron Sharpe has already been ruled out, so recently-signed Drew Timme could be in line to make his NBA debut as the backup center if Clowney isn’t able to suit up.

Clowney is dealing with right wrist soreness, but it isn’t expected to keep him out of the lineup. Clowney started on Wednesday with Cameron Johnson (rest) out of the lineup, but he should return to a reserve role on Friday, though it is the first night of a back-to-back. He could return to the starting unit on Saturday.

Russell and Clowney are the two changes to the Nets’ starting lineup. The former’s return means Tyrese Martin will come off the bench, a role in which he offers minimal fantasy value. Clowney steps in for Cameron Johnson, who is unavailable for rest reasons.

Williams is expected to be back in the lineup after missing Brooklyn’s last game, while Clowney has missed their last three. Williams should return to the starting lineup, which would likely push Tyrese Martin back to the bench. Clowney’s return will cut into the minutes of both Nic Claxton and Day’Ron Sharpe.

With Clowney sidelined for a third-straight game, Day’Ron Sharpe will continue to fill out the backup center minutes. Nic Claxton will be back after sitting out on Saturday, so Sharpe’s production will be limited in a smaller role.

Clowney returned from an ankle injury last week, but is now set to miss his second straight game with the same injury. With the 20-year-old power forward and Nic Claxton out, Day’Ron Sharpe figures to play heavy minutes against the Celtics.

Clowney recently returned following a long layoff due to an ankle injury, but this injury will now keep him out for at least one more game. In his place, Day’Ron Sharpe and Nic Claxton could see additional minutes.

After an ineffective 18-minute runout in his return from a sprained ankle on Saturday, Clowney was far more impactful against the Lakers. He shot 3-of-8 from beyond the arc and recorded a steal and a blocked shot. The 19 points are the most Clowney has scored in a game since January 14 against Portland, and the Nets forward has the potential to be a “silly season” standout. However, it’s possible that Clowney won’t play in Tuesday’s game against the Cavaliers for injury management reasons.

One day removed from participating in a 5-on-5 session, Clowney has been cleared to return from the sprained left ankle that sidelined him for over a month. Even if he’s immediately placed in the starting lineup (Cameron Johnson is out Saturday), the second-year forward is unlikely to take on a full workload in his first game back. However, Clowney has the potential to provide value once any restrictions are removed.

Clowney has been sidelined since January, but he is progressing closer to returning to the lineup. He was a consistent presence in the starting unit in January and could return to that role shortly after he returns to the rotation. Brooklyn will want to get him as many development minutes as possible, though they will also want to make sure he doesn’t re-injure his ankle after a lengthy absence. His return will cut into the minutes of Nic Claxton and Day’Ron Sharpe.
