The reigning Rookie of the Year took a beating on Saturday, finishing with both a bloody lip and a bloody nose, and he was also responsible for six turnovers. However, Castle’s turnover issues were limited mainly to the first quarter, as he and the other Spurs appeared to be pressing. Victor Wembanyama subbing in to begin the second quarter certainly helped calm some nerves. Castle has scored at least 20 points in seven games this season, and his scoring average is nearly four points higher than his rookie year number (14.7). Next up for Castle and the Spurs are the Knicks in Tuesday’s NBA Cup final, which will not count toward team records or statistics.

After playing on a minutes limit in his return from a hip injury Monday, Castle erupted with a massive game in the win over the Lakers on Wednesday. The 21-year-old shooting guard was just four assists shy of a triple-double, posting a 30/10/6 line. Castle, last year’s Rookie of the Year, still only played 27 minutes Wednesday. His minutes and fantasy value should only increase going forward.

Unsurprisingly, the Spurs had Castle on a minutes restriction in his return from a hip injury that sidelined him for nine games. However, the reigning Rookie of the Year was productive in his 23 minutes on the floor. Castle’s restriction ensured Julian Champagnie of solid minutes, as he logged 29 and finished with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and five three-pointers. We’ll see if the minutes split is similar on Wednesday when the Spurs face the Lakers, but deep-league managers who were streaming Champagnie should consider holding onto him.

Castle has been sidelined since November 16, but prior to that, he had been playing incredibly well despite De’Aaron Fox’s return to the lineup. Castle may have his minutes managed in his first game back after a multi-week absence, but he will eventually push Julian Champagnie back to the bench. Dylan Harper may also lose out on a few minutes with Castle back. Monday’s game will be the first time that Castle, Fox and Harper will be available at the same time this season.

Castle will likely need some time to ramp up when he returns, but his availability will eventually cut into Julian Champagnie’s and Dylan Harper’s minutes. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Castle’s injury status moving forward.

Castle, who was injured during the first half of Sunday’s win over the Kings, has been diagnosed with a left hip flexor strain. He’ll be re-evaluated in one to two weeks, leaving the Spurs down two starters as Victor Wembanyama (calf) is also out. Julian Champagnie started the second half on Sunday and is the player most likely to move into the starting lineup. Also, if Dylan Harper can return from his injury ahead of Castle, there may be opportunities for the rookie to provide value following a ramp-up period.

Castle exited Sunday’s win over the Kings due to left hip flexor soreness, and that issue will keep him out of Tuesday’s game as well. Julian Champagnie replaced the reigning Rookie of the Year in the lineup on Sunday, and he’s worth a look in deep leagues due to the Spurs also being without Victor Wembanyama. The absences should also raise Devin Vassell’s ceiling as he looks to rebound from a slow start to the season.

Castle suffered a hip injury during the first half of Sunday’s game and was not on the court to begin the third quarter. The Spurs have since announced that he will not return. Julian Champagnie started the second half and could hold onto that spot if Castle misses time. This would also mean that De’Aaron Fox will spend more time on the ball as the primary playmaker.

Castle joined Victor Wembanyama as one of two Spurs players to tally triple-doubles on Wednesday. Castle was unimpactful from beyond the arc, and used all two-point shots and free throws to finish with more than 20 points on the evening. Wednesday marked his fourth game in a row with double-digit assists, and it appears as though De’Aaron Fox’s return to the lineup won’t impact Castle in a negative way.

After committing at least five turnovers in each of San Antonio’s first four games, Castle has done a better job of valuing the basketball recently. And over his last two games, the second-year guard has recorded 25 assists and three turnovers. Castle has looked good running the show alongside De’Aaron Fox, who has taken on more scoring responsibilities since returning to the court. Closing in on top-100 value in nine-cat formats for the season, Castle has been a top-20 player over the past two weeks according to Basketball Monster.

With De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) available for the first time this season, Castle didn’t take the expected backseat. He accounted for nearly half of the Spurs’ assists, while Fox only had three dimes. Castle also played 35 minutes. If the plan is to take advantage of Fox’s scoring ability and keep him fresh by allowing Castle to dominate the ball, then both guards can thrive in fantasy hoops. It’s only one game, but it seems like Castle isn’t going to take a hit in production.

Castle landed his first double-double of the season on Friday, posting a new season-high in assists in the victory. Poor shooting from beyond the arc hurt his overall scoring efficiency against the Rockets, but his accuracy inside the arc, combined with solid production from the free throw line, allowed the young point guard to finish in double figures as a scorer for the eighth straight time to begin the season. De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) seems to be nearing a return, which could potentially impact Castle’s production. Until then, the second-year guard remains San Antonio’s lead ball handler and main distributor.

On a night when Victor Wembanyama was neutralized, Castle had one of his best performances of the season. The second-year guard was highly efficient, shooting over 50 percent from the field and committing two turnovers. The latter category has been an issue for Castle, who’s filling in at point guard for the injured De’Aaron Fox. He’s averaging 4.7 turnovers per game and has recorded five or more in four of six games. However, Castle has tallied 15 assists and four turnovers over his last two. He’s headed in the right direction, even if the Spurs suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday. San Antonio plays three games during Week 3, starting with the Lakers on Wednesday.

Castle has been able to score at a decent rate and provide his fair share of assists this season, but he has had two glaring issues: his free throw percentage and turnovers. Through four games, he is shooting 57.1 percent from the line on 8.8 attempts per game and is averaging 6.3 turnovers per game. Those two issues have tanked his value in category leagues, even though he has been decent in other categories. He’ll look to have a more efficient performance against the Heat on Thursday.

While Victor Wembanyama received most of the attention in the aftermath of San Antonio’s 125-92 victory, and with good reason, Castle’s night was encouraging. Starting at point guard for the injured De’Aaron Fox, the second-year guard shot the ball well from the field and was a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. However, there were negatives, as Castle shot 5-of-10 from the foul line and committed five turnovers. Those two categories will determine if Castle can outperform his Yahoo! ADP of 115 this season. The Spurs’ guard had an excellent night overall, but there is room for improvement.

With De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) not on track to return to action for opening night, Castle will likely be the Spurs’ starting point guard. He looked the part in his 25 minutes Friday night, shooting efficiently and racking up nine assists with just one turnover. Castle’s efficiency was an issue last season, but that’s to be expected of a rookie. Look out if Fox’s absence allows the reigning Rookie of the Year to hit the ground running. Castle’s Yahoo! ADP of 118 may be too low, especially when factoring in Fox’s hamstring injury.

After missing the first three preseason games with a knee injury, Castle logged his first minutes on Monday and ended up as one of the Spurs’ most productive starters. He was the only of the five starters to play fewer than 20 minutes, but was aggressive on both ends of the floor in his limited action, displaying his rim-finishing abilities, touch from beyond the arc, and a knack for collecting stocks in his return to the floor. He’ll have a chance to hit the ground running in his sophomore campaign and build on a strong rookie season.

Castle will make his 2025 preseason debut on Monday, working his way back from a bone bruise in his knee. He’ll likely receive reps at the point guard position on Monday, which could prepare both him and his Spurs teammates for the start of the regular season, which De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) isn’t expected to be ready for. With Castle startiing against Indiana, Keldon Johnson moves to the bench for the first time this preseason.

Castle has missed the past week with a bone bruise in his knee, but he should be good to go against Indiana. With De’Aaron Fox also sidelined, the Spurs haven’t been using a traditional point guard in the starting lineup. Castle should get that opportunity to start the year.

Given the current state of San Antonio’s backcourt rotation, the reigning Rookie of the Year serving as the lead guard for the first unit is unsurprising. De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) and Dylan Harper (thumb) are both out due to injury, and the former said Monday that he does not expect to be ready for the season opener on October 22. By process of elimination, Castle runs the point, with reserve Jordan McLaughlin being the only other option. If he can keep the turnovers in check, having the ball in his hands more should raise Castle’s fantasy ceiling early in the season. Neither Castle nor head coach Mitch Johnson made a big deal about the shift when asked, and it’s worth noting that the guard envisioned a shift to point guard during the pre-draft process in the spring of 2024.

Though he didn’t have an efficient shooting performance, Castle was able to close out his rookie season on a high note. This was his eighth-straight game with at least five assists, and he has scored at least 20 points in four of those games. Castle will likely be named the Rookie of the Year for this season, and he has a bright future ahead of him. However, while he will have a good chance to start for the Spurs next season, he may not make the same statistical impact with the rest of the team healthy.

The betting favorite for Rookie of the Year honors, Castle finished Friday’s defeat with his sixth double-double. He also only committed two turnovers, efficiently making plays for his teammates. Chris Paul (one assist and two blocks) only played 14 minutes on Friday; his focus is on playing all 82 games. If a similar approach is taken for Sunday’s season finale against the Raptors, Castle will again spend more time as the Spurs’ primary playmaker.

Castle has scored 22 points in four of his last seven appearances, including Sunday’s performance. However, efficiency remains an issue, with the rookie shooting 40.5 percent from the field over the past two weeks. Add in an average of three turnovers per game and limited defensive production, and Castle is ranked well outside the top-150 in eight- and nine-cat formats. That said, Castle is worth the risk despite those issues since his availability is not an issue.

Castle just missed a triple-double for the second consecutive game Friday against the Cavaliers. The 20-year-old shooting guard was just one rebound away from a triple-double after he finished just one assist away from a triple-double Wednesday against the Nuggets. Even without the triple-doubles, Castle is still putting up impressive outings as he pushes for the Rookie of the Year Award. He’s also turned the ball over just four times in his last two games after turning the ball over seven times against the Magic Tuesday.

Castle was just one assist shy of a triple-double Wednesday against the Nuggets. The 20-year-old shooting guard continues to finish the season out strong as he pushes for the Rookie of the Year Award. Castle improved greatly in the turnover category as he committed just one turnover after turning it over seven times against the Magic on Tuesday. Those turnovers have sabotaged his fantasy value this year, but the future is bright for Castle if he can continue to improve in that area.

Castle had a solid night, shooting just under 50 percent from the field while providing solid value in the rebound and assist categories. However, the rookie was also responsible for seven turnovers, the most he’s had in a game since November 19 against the Thunder. Over the past two weeks, Castle has shot just 41.5 percent from the field, which is one reason why he’s ranked outside the top 200 in eight- and nine-cat formats. He’ll look to bounce back on Wednesday when the Spurs visit the Nuggets.

Castle had another game where he struggled with his field goal percentage, but ultimately scored over 20 points given the volume he’s being afforded now as a starter. The 20-year-old shooting guard also dished out eight assists. He remains in the conversation for the Rookie of the Year Award. San Antonio closes out the week with a matchup against the Warriors Sunday.

Despite a subpar shooting night from Castle, he was still able to produce a strong stat line that nearly resulted in the first triple-double of his career. It ended up being the third double-double of his career, and he has scored at least 15 points in each of his last eight games, which is when he returned to the starting unit. Castle has had a phenomenal rookie season and seems to have a good chance to win Rookie of the Year. The Spurs will wrap up this week with a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday.
