After attempting nine shots in Wednesday’s win over the Warriors, Castle put up 15 on Thursday. A big reason for the increase was Victor Wembanyama (ankle) not playing, and the reigning Rookie of the Year took advantage of his opportunities. Castle did not record any defensive stats against the Clippers, but he’s still averaging one steal per game. The rebounds, assists and three-pointers were good, so there isn’t much for fantasy managers to worry about.

Castle was effective in his 33 minutes on Wednesday. He didn’t take many shots, but still impacted the game well as a passer. The second-year guard dished out double-digit assists to land another double-double, and his four offensive boards were arguably as impressive. Nonetheless, the Spurs are one of the hottest teams in the league, and Castle has been a reason why. He’ll remain a nightly double-double threat down the stretch of the fantasy playoffs.

While Victor Wembanyama stole the show on Monday with his 40-point double-double, Castle was also excellent in the 129-114 win over the Bulls. The second-year guard finished two rebounds shy of a triple-double, which would have been his second in as many games. Over the past two weeks, Castle has averaged 9.4 assists per game, helping preserve his fantasy value at a time when turnovers and free-throw percentage have been a problem.

Castle put up his fourth triple-double of the season in Saturday’s rout of the Bucks, and he did so efficiently. Since the All-Star break, the reigning Rookie of the Year has been a sixth-round player in eight-cat formats. Castle has been a much-improved player over the past two weeks, and the timing could not be better for a team that hopes to make a deep playoff run. The Spurs play four games in Week 23, starting with the Bulls on Monday.

Castle had an up-and-down performance on Wednesday. He elevated his teammates by facilitating at a high level, but gave the opposition opportunities by committing five turnovers. And while he was extremely efficient from the floor, the second-year guard left almost a good chunk of points at the charity stripe. Castle ultimately came close to securing a double-double, despite some shortcomings in his 26 minutes of game action. However, there’s another level he’s shown capable of reaching, one fantasy managers are hoping to see in the thick of the fantasy playoffs.

Castle was back in the Spurs’ lineup after missing two games with a hip injury, and he played 23 minutes. There was an injury scare during the first half, as the reigning Rookie of the Year took an inadvertent Jaime Jaquez Jr. knee to the head, but he returned to action after a short stint on the bench. And with the Spurs winning by 25 points, there was little need for the team to have Castle play starters’ minutes in his first game back. Harrison Barnes returned to the bench on Monday, finishing with 13 points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals and four three-pointers.

Castle will return from a two-game absence to give the Spurs’ starting backcourt a boost, and Devin Vassell will also make his way back to the opening unit after sitting out Saturday’s win over the Pacers due to a hamstring injury. San Antonio has won five straight games and will have a chance for a sixth over on Monday, as the team tries to close the regular season strong.

While Castle has missed the Spurs’ last two games, Vassell was a late scratch for Saturday’s win over the Pacers. Their absences on Saturday led to Dylan Harper joining Harrison Barnes as the replacements in the starting five. They would likely get another opportunity to start if Castle and Vassell remain out.

Castle did a little bit of everything in Monday’s four-point win. In addition to finishing as the Spurs’ leading scorer, he tallied a team-high in assists and was one of San Antonio’s better rebounders on the evening. Inefficient three-point shooting and some ball-security struggles are arguably Castle’s only weaknesses in this game. He’s flirted with two straight double-doubles after securing one against the Nuggets on March 12; he’ll be on triple-double watch on Thursday against the Kings.

While he was responsible for six turnovers, Castle also finished three rebounds shy of a triple-double. Since the All-Star break, the second-year guard has provided sixth-round value in eight-cat formats. Castle’s fantasy value has increased steadily throughout the season, as he’s bounced back nicely from a slow start. Two of San Antonio’s four Week 21 games, Sacramento and Indiana, are against teams focused on the future, which could make for good nights for Castle.

Castle had an excellent night, albeit in a losing effort. The second-year guard picked up the slack on a night when the Spurs didn’t have Victor Wembanyama (ankle), recording his third career triple-double. Just as positive for fantasy managers is that Castle continues to take better care of the basketball. Counting Thursday, he’s recorded two assists or fewer in seven of his last eight appearances. The Spurs host the Hornets on Saturday in what could be another high-scoring affair.

Castle was one of three Spurs to score at least 20 points on Sunday, with Victor Wembanyama and Keldon Johnson being the others. The second-year guard may not have recorded any defensive stats, but he was efficient on the other end of the floor. Since the All-Star break, Castle has recorded two turnovers or fewer in seven of San Antonio’s ten games. Wemby may be the headliner, and with good reason, but Castle’s improved efficiency as a playmaker has also given the Spurs, 9-1 since the break, a boost.

Castle recorded a second straight double-double, making this the 10th time this season he’s finished with at least 10 assists. He didn’t do much scoring, but with Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron fox combining for 67 points, he didn’t need to. Castle has been a solid source of assists and steals in his second season in the league, though he has been limited in category leagues by in inefficiencies. However, he has shot at least 50 percent from the floor in each of his last two games and has a total of four turnovers over his last four games. It’s a solid stretch, but managers shouldn’t expect the trend to continue.

Castle played 28 minutes last night in a win over the Raptors and must have come up a little sore the next day. With the Spurs coming in as heavy favorites over the Nets, it would make sense for them to give Castle some rest. That would likely mean more minutes and usage for both Devin Vassell and Dylan Harper.

All five Spurs starters, including Castle, were in double figures in scoring in this one. The 21-year-old point guard wasn’t particularly efficient with 16 points on 16 field goal attempts. Castle also had 11 assists, earning the double-double. The Spurs road trip continues Wednesday against the Raptors.

Castle has been a top-50 fantasy player over the past week, and his improved efficiency as a scorer is why. The reigning Rookie of the Year is shooting 70 percent from the field and 80 percent from the foul line over the past week. Add in what Castle continues to bring to the table as a rebounder and defender, and fantasy managers received a welcome boost to end Week 17. The Spurs hit the road for all four of their games in Week 18, starting with the Pistons on Monday.

Castle led all Spurs players in scoring on Thursday and only needed 21 minutes of game action to do so. The second-year guard shot efficiently and made good on most of his scoring opportunities while also contributing as a facilitator and disruptive defender. His minutes were low, potentially due to the large second-half lead the Spurs held or to the fact that he finished the game with five fouls. Either way, fantasy managers should expect that Castle will see more minutes and have more opportunities to put up a big line on Saturday against the Kings.

Castle was injured during the first half when he landed hard on the court after blocking a Rui Hachimura dunk attempt. While the second-year guard was able to walk back to the locker room under his own power, he did so slowly. The good news is that X-rays came back negative, but Castle is done for the night. Harrison Barnes entered the Spurs’ lineup to begin the third quarter.

The second meeting in three days between the Mavericks and Spurs was dominated by Castle, who made some history. The second-year guard became the first player in franchise history to record a 40-point triple-double with points, rebounds and assists. Castle joins David Robinson as Spurs players with a 40-point triple-double; The Admiral recorded his with points, rebounds and blocks. While Castle recorded six turnovers, their impact was muted by his all-around production. The Spurs play four games in Week 17, starting with a Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back before the All-Star break.

After sitting out Sunday’s win over the Magic with an adductor injury, Castle played both games of the Spurs’ back-to-back. However, his minutes were limited, with the reigning Rookie of the Year coming off the bench and playing 21 on Thursday. Castle started Wednesday’s win over the Thunder and logged 26 minutes. The positive for fantasy managers was that he was highly productive in those 21 minutes, with the stat line only missing a blocked shot.

Castle is good to go after sitting out Sunday’s win over the Magic. His return likely pushes Harrison Barnes back to the bench. That won’t have a significant impact on fantasy basketball, as Barnes is on the waiver wire in most leagues.
