Durant produced an offensive masterclass on Sunday, missing only four shots from the field and recording his third 30-point game of the season. And this comes on the heels of a three-game run that was anything but the norm for Durant. During that stretch, he averaged 18.7 points per game while shooting 35.2 percent from the field. It’s safe to say that Durant is back on track ahead of Houston’s three-game Week 4, and the Rockets don’t play again until Wednesday.

Durant added another 20-point game to his collection, marking the sixth time he’s done so as a Houston Rocket. As he often does, the two-time Finals MVP thrived as a scorer at all three levels and also found production at the free-throw line. However, he committed a season-high eight turnovers and totaled his fewest rebounds of the season. Durant lacked the all-around production on Friday, but he will have a chance to have a more balanced performance on Sunday against the Bucks.

Durant struggled with his shot on Monday, making two of his eight attempts from beyond the arc. However, he did record a complete stat line, providing solid value in the rebound and assist categories. Thus far, Durant has been a top-20 player in nine-cat formats, which aligns with his Yahoo! ADP. KD and the Rockets play three more games during Week 3, starting with the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Durant’s unmatched scoring ability has elevated Houston’s offense to another level, as the Rockets boast a league-best 125.2 offensive rating through the season’s first week. The 37-year-old future Hall of Famer came out blazing in this one, knocking down 7-of-8 shots and pouring in 20 first-half points to give Houston an 18-point cushion at the break. He likely would’ve cleared the 30-point mark for the third time in six games had Boston kept it closer down the stretch. Durant will lead the Rockets into a four-game week beginning Monday at home against the Mavericks before a three-game road swing through Memphis, San Antonio, and Milwaukee.

The Rockets have now scored at least 130 points in consecutive games and Durant has combined for 50 points in the two games. The 37-year-old power forward found his three-point shot as he made four three-pointers for the first time against the Raptors Wednesday. Durant will continue to be the focal point of the Houston offense.

Durant had 23 points in a return to OKC on ring night in the season opener. It was a solid game, but he was closer to unstoppable against the Pistons on Friday. Durant was getting to the foul line at will and made 16-of-18 free throw attempts. The 37-year-old power forward kept the Rockets in the game as none of his teammates reached even 20 points.

Returning to the city where he began his NBA career on Thunder ring/banner night, Durant struggled with his perimeter shot (0-of-4 from three) and finished with more turnovers (four) than assists (three) in the one-point defeat. Things could have worsened in the first overtime, as Durant was signaling for a timeout the Rockets did not have. However, the officials did not acknowledge the request, so the game went into a second overtime. Durant, who was excellent in the mid-range, will find his perimeter shot in time while getting more acclimated to an offense that currently lacks a legitimate point guard. There’s no need to sound the alarm after Game 1, and his overall shooting and rebounding numbers were solid.

According to Shams, Durant was eligible for a max extension of up to $120 million but took less money to help the team remain flexible with its roster moving forward. The final season of the deal (2027-28) includes a player option, and Durant won’t be an unrestricted free agent again until the summer of 2028. Houston clearly believes its title window is open for the immediate future with Durant on the roster, so locking him in for two additional seasons was a no-brainer. Durant’s age and Houston’s depth may make his minutes harder to come by this season, but he’s still likely to finish as a top-25 fantasy player in 2025-26.

Durant did not show off the full repertoire on Wednesday, but he did show flashes of why many believe he’ll raise Houston’s ceiling this season. After shooting 1-of-4 from the field in the first quarter, Durant was 6-of-6 in the second and third quarters before ending his night after 23 minutes of action. Even with the point guard position being a question mark due to Fred VanVleet’s torn ACL, Durant’s offensive ability will make a difference for the Rockets. The days of being a first-round pick in fantasy leagues may be in the rearview mirror, but KD should be off the board in the second round in standard leagues.

Durant, who did not play in Monday’s win over the Hawks, will make his Rockets preseason debut Wednesday night, bumping Tari Eason to the bench. Of course, the future Hall of Fame forward will be the focus of many, but his credentials are well-known by now. Sheppard remains the most essential Rocket to watch this preseason, as he looks to lock down a starting role with Fred VanVleet (knee) sidelined.

Durant sat out Monday’s preseason opener against the Hawks, but he’ll take the court for the first time in a Houston uniform on Wednesday against Utah. The future Hall-of-Famer is expected to play a major role for his new team in the 2025-26 season as the Rockets pursue a championship.

Gausman was ineffective in his last start Sunday against the Rays, but he was the most consistent of the starters for Toronto in 2025 and will get the nod to open the series. He’ll likely be followed by Shane Bieber, and rookie Trey Yesavage will get the nod for Game 3 in New York. Chris Bassitt or Max Scherzer will likely start Game 4, if necessary, but the Blue Jays could go to Gausman on three days rest if they don’t feel comfortable with that.

Expected to be on the move this summer after the Suns attempted to trade him prior to February’s deadline, Durant has been moved to one of his preferred destinations. Houston was on the list of teams reported to be on the future Hall of Fame forward’s wish list, with Miami and San Antonio being the others. Ultimately, Durant has been sent to a Rockets squad that finished second in the Western Conference this season, but offensive deficiencies were exposed in the team’s first-round loss to the Warriors. While Houston’s perimeter defense takes a hit with Brooks being included in the trade, Durant is no slouch on that end of the floor. Also, his offensive skill set is much-needed for Ime Udoka’s team.

Based on the most recent reports on the Durant saga, his next stop will be either Florida or Texas, if he has his way. While Houston has long been a rumored destination for the 15-time All-Star, the front office most recently took the approach of seeing what its current young core could offer. The Rockets were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round, but earning the two-seed in the West was a sign of significant progress being made. As for the Spurs, they’ve missed the postseason in phenom Victor Wembanyama’s two seasons in San Antonio, but there’s the expectation that he’s capable of being the face of the NBA in the future. Add in De’Aaron Fox, and there are some intriguing talents for Durant to connect with there. However, with the Suns not dealing with a trade deadline, Durant’s preference does not mean the franchise will pass on a move that would provide greater value. Miami was swept out of the playoffs by Cleveland, months after trading Jimmy Butler to the Warriors. Adding Durant would give the Heat a much-needed marquee scorer.

The Timberwolves are one of the teams that have been mentioned as being in contention for Durant’s services. However, the team’s beat writer reported Saturday that “nothing is close” regarding a potential trade between Minnesota and Phoenix. KD’s close relationship with Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is well-known, and there have been discussions. But a trade may not occur soon, even with ESPN’s Shams Charania reporting Friday that he believed a deal could happen within the “next few days.”

Who knows what to believe at this point. A Thursday update from Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s John Gambadoro noted that a Durant trade was “not close,” but Shams and Brian Windhorst have been consistent over the last week, reporting the trade as imminent. Shams’ most recent report links Durant most closely to the Rockets, Heat and Timberwolves.

Durant has been rumored to be on the move since before the trade deadline. While several teams have inquired about the availability of the small forward who turns 37 in September, the Spurs, Rockets, Timberwolves, Knicks and Heat are some of the more likely landing spots. Durant is likely headed elsewhere this offseason, though no trade is imminent at this time.

No surprises here, as rumors of a potential Durant trade have been floating around since February’s trade deadline. The teams most likely to land Durant are the Spurs, Rockets, Timberwolves, Knicks and Heat, though Charania notes several other teams have inquired. At this point, a Durant trade seems imminent, and no matter where he lands, he should be an elite fantasy option thanks to his ability to rebound, facilitate, play defense and score efficiently.

The expectation that Durant will be moved this offseason has been around since the trade deadline. Reports from then indicated that Durant didn’t want to be traded in the middle of the season again, but they did shop him. The draft starts on June 25, and trade negotiations should heat up around then. There are multiple teams that would be interested in parting with assets to bring Durant in to help elevate their team to contention. Regardless of where he ends up, Durant will continue to be one of the best players in the league, and he should have the ball in his hands as much as he wants it.

Since the end of the season, according to Iko, the Houston Rockets have fielded several calls from the Suns, who have gradually lowered their asking price for Durant. The Suns are interested in getting some of their first round picks back as Houston controls their first round selections in 2025, 2027 and 2029. The asking price is still not low enough for the Rockets, who aren’t keen on breaking up their young core of players for the 36-year-old small forward, casting doubt over a deal ever materializing.

Durant has not played since March 30 due to a sprained ankle. With Phoenix no longer in postseason contention, there’s no reason for the star forward to return to the court if he isn’t completely healthy. The lingering question is whether Durant has played his last game in a Suns uniform, as significant changes could be made after this disappointing season.

Durant will miss at least three games as the Suns battle for a spot in the Play-In Tournament. With Durant sidelined, Royce O’Neale and Grayson Allen should pick up the slack in a committee approach. O’Neale has averaged 12.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 19 games as a starter and is probably the better streamer for the week.

Durant sprained his left ankle during the third quarter of Sunday’s blowout loss to the Rockets and did not return. He will undergo an MRI on Monday and will not travel with the team for the start of its three-game road trip. The Suns visit the Bucks on Tuesday, followed by games against the Celtics on Friday and the Knicks two days later. Royce O’Neale and Grayson Allen are potential replacements in the starting lineup if Durant does not rejoin the Suns during Week 22.

Durant sprained his ankle on a drive to the basket during the third quarter of Sunday’s game. He was taken to the locker room immediately, and since Durant did not attempt the free throws, he is officially done for the night. In 23 minutes, KD tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one three-pointer. If Durant misses time, Royce O’Neale will likely enter the starting lineup.

Durant has averaged a blistering 34 points across his last four games, but he couldn’t replicate that offensive output in this one. Durant led his team in the scoring department and, despite a balanced scoring attack from Phoenix, the Suns dropped a critical game. No matter the outcome of the game, Durant can be counted on for big performances like this each and every night.
