Eason sprained his right ankle during the third quarter of Friday’s loss to the Trail Blazers and did not return. While Dorian Finney-Smith is available, Reed Sheppard is the player whose minutes increased the most after Eason’s exit.

Eason played 16 minutes before spraining his right ankle and leaving Friday’s game with just over eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. Replaced in the lineup by Reed Sheppard, the Rockets’ forward was declared done for the night early in the fourth quarter. While Eason can be a valuable category league option, the inability to stay healthy has been an issue. The Rockets end their Week 12 schedule in Sacramento on Sunday.

Eason got up a lot of shots on Wednesday, but not a lot of them fell. His biggest near-make came in the closing moments of the game as he almost successfully tapped in a missed Kevin Durant jump shot at the buzzer to give the Rockets the win. Instead, the ball was still in his hand as the horn sounded, and the shot was waived off. Eason still had good fantasy production on the evening, thanks to his team-high and season-high in rebounds. Houston will face Portland again on Friday.

Saturday’s double-double was Eason’s first since moving into the Rockets’ starting lineup, and he’s capable of producing those stat lines consistently. Depending on the diagnosis for Alperen Şengün, who sprained his ankle during the first quarter of Saturday’s defeat, there may be a greater need for what Eason brings to the table, especially as a rebounder. He’s still rostered in 33 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which is too low for Eason. He should be a popular option for those competing in category leagues going into Week 12.

Eason is good to go after initially being listed as questionable for Thursday’s game. He’ll occupy his usual place in the starting lineup, with Josh Okogie remaining with the bench unit.

Eason has been starting for Houston lately, so his absence would open up plenty of minutes. Josh Okogie had been starting previously and would have a chance to return to the starting lineup, though Reed Sheppard would end up being the bigger beneficiary in Eason’s absence.

In his third game back from an oblique injury that sidelined him for over a month, Eason made his second start of the season. While the three-pointers weren’t falling, with the Rockets’ forward shooting 1-of-5, he did a little bit of everything else. Eason’s six defensive contributions were a season-high, and it’s something that he’s capable of doing consistently. Even if this start was a one-time deal, now is a good time to add Eason if he’s available in your league.

Making his first appearance since November 14, Eason was under a minutes restriction on Sunday. However, the production in limited time on the floor was highly encouraging. Eason shot 75 percent from the field and made all three of his three-point attempts. For the season, he’s making nearly 51 percent of his 4.8 three-point attempts. That’s a far cry from Eason’s career percentage (36.4), so it’s fair to question if he can continue to shoot the ball that well. However, there’s no denying that Eason has improved in that area, and it raises his fantasy ceiling once his minutes increase. He’s rostered in 26 percent of Yahoo! leagues; it won’t be long until Eason is once again trustworthy in 12-team formats.

Eason will be available to play in a game for the first time since November 14, giving the Rockets additional depth at the forward spots. While he may not be immediately valuable to fantasy managers, Eason’s presence in the lineup likely means fewer minutes for Josh Okogie and Jabari Smith Jr.

Eason was questionable ahead of Houston’s last game, but he has been ruled out immediately for this one. It’s the first of a back-to-back, so there is a chance he suits up for the first time since Nov. 14 against the Kings on Sunday.

Eason was ruled out with an oblique injury, though his return to the court for the first time since November 14 isn’t far off. He could be available for either or potentially both of the Rockets’ games this weekend. Once Eason is back, he’ll likely take some minutes from Jabari Smith Jr. and Josh Okogie.

This is the second straight game that Eason has been listed as questionable, but he was ruled out for Monday’s game. He could suit up for the first time since Nov. 14 and would likely have his minutes limited. Still, as he gets back up to speed, he’ll likely take away some minutes from Jabari Smith Jr. and Josh Okogie.

It’s been over one month now since Eason last took the floor, having appeared in just 11 games this season. He’s logged consistent minutes in the rotation when available and has shot a career-best 50.9 percent from deep on 4.8 attempts per game, while his scoring, rebounding, and assists numbers aren’t far off from last season. He’ll be a valuable part of the rotation once he returns.

Eason has been inactive since he suffered a strained oblique during a November 14 game against the Trail Blazers. Getting him back would help the Rockets defensively and on the glass, and he’s capable of offering reliable category league value once the minutes are there.

Initially announced to have suffered a hip injury during Friday’s win over the Trail Blazers, Eason has been diagnosed with a strained oblique. While Jeff Green could move into the rotation, it’s just as likely that Josh Okogie and Reed Sheppard will absorb some of the minutes that would have gone to Eason. Jae’Sean Tate is another possibility, but he has not recorded double-digit minutes in any of his seven appearances this season.

Eason’s early exit could open the door for Jeff Green to return to the rotation, but it is more likely that Reed Sheppard and Josh Okogie will just see a few extra minutes. The Rockets could also turn to more two-big lineups, which would result in more minutes for Steven Adams and Clint Capela.

While the usual suspects played well for the Rockets on Wednesday, the team also received excellent production from its bench. Eason recorded his second 20-point game of the season and finished one three-pointer shy of his previous high. He’s ranked just outside the top-100 in eight- and nine-cat formats, with decreases in rebounds and steals production lowering Eason’s value. He did not record any defensive stats on Wednesday, the only thing that fantasy managers could complain about when assessing Eason’s performance.

Jabari Smith Jr. is sidelined with an ankle injury, which opens the door for Eason to move into the starting unit. Eason started the year off slow but has played well over the last three games. This will be his first start of the season, which will provide him with a nice boost in fantasy.

It has been a rough start to the season for Eason, but he was able to get things going on Monday, even though he didn’t contribute much on the defensive end. Eason was drafted in the 10th round of Yahoo! leagues and had been struggling to return that value. More performances like this will help, but in a reserve role, that production may not come consistently. Still, he’s too talented to leave on the waiver wire.

Eason started Monday’s preseason opener but did not play much, logging 11 minutes. However, fantasy managers likely know he can offer value in limited minutes. Eason shared the team lead in rebounds with Jabari Smith Jr. (9/6/1 with two three-pointers) while recording a few assists. Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said last week that the team may look to avoid playing Eason in both games of back-to-backs, at least early in the season. After playing 82 games as a rookie, a lingering left leg injury limited the forward to 79 games combined in 2023-24 and 2024-25. If Eason can stay reasonably healthy, he’ll be worth rostering in category leagues.

Eason and Adams have suffered lower-body injuries in recent seasons, with the former dealing with a leg issue and the latter undergoing knee surgery. Potentially resting them for part of back-to-backs is certainly understandable, especially with Houston’s depth in the frontcourt. However, with the Rockets’ first back-to-back not until December 5-6, the team will have time to assess the health of Eason and Adams before making a final decision. Adams’ availability won’t significantly impact fantasy basketball, as Alperen Şengün will play most of the minutes at center, and Houston added Clint Capela in free agency. However, Eason has top-100 fantasy potential, especially in points-punt team builds. He’s expected to be in the running for a place in the Rockets’ starting lineup, along with Jabari Smith Jr.

After sitting out Friday’s loss to the Lakers, Eason and Smith are off the injury report. How much Houston’s rotation players will play on Sunday is undetermined, as they’ve already secured the two-seed in the West. David Roddy and Nate Williams may see significant playing time during the second half since there won’t be anything on the line for the Rockets.

With Fred VanVleet (ankle) unavailable, Eason made his 15th start of the season on Wednesday. As has often been the case, he recorded a quality stat line for category league managers who have him rostered. Eason’s fantasy value over the past two weeks hasn’t been great, but he’s ranked safely within the top 100 in eight- and nine-cat formats for the season. Also, another start could be in the cards for Tari, as Dillon Brooks picked up his 16th technical foul, which triggers a one-game suspension. Houston hosts Oklahoma City on Friday.

The Rockets are without Fred VanVleet, who will not play due to a sore right ankle. Eason replaces him in the lineup, and this also shifts Thompson into the point guard role. The lineup change raises Thompson and Eason’s fantasy ceilings.

Since Eason has not reached the point where he can play both games of back-to-backs, he sat out Sunday’s blowout win over Phoenix. Monday’s game is of far greater importance to the Rockets, who are looking to lock down the two-seed in the West, so saving Eason for that matchup is understandable. Unless Amen Thompson’s ankle keeps him out of Monday’s game, Eason will come off the bench, but he remains valuable in standard leagues.

Sunday’s game is the first of two in as many nights for the Rockets, who visit the Lakers on Monday. That game is of greater importance to the Rockets in the team’s quest for the two-seed in the Western Conference, so Eason will not play against Phoenix. Jabari Smith Jr. should see his playing time increase, but coming off the bench limits his fantasy ceiling.

Eason filled in for Amen Thompson (ankle) and delivered a strong performance as a rebounder. He struggled on offense, getting to 10 points on 10 shots, but he committed only one turnover and hit all four of his free-throw attempts. This was far from an elite showing, but it wasn’t too shabby.

Eason’s line on Wednesday was excellent, as he filled the stat sheet outside of three-pointers. The five steals were one shy of his season and career highs, and Eason has scored 15 points or more in four straight outings. Since the All-Star break, Eason has provided fourth-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. With Amen Thompson (ankle) likely returning on Friday, Tari may return to the bench. However, he should still be rostered in standard leagues.

Eason sat out Houston’s last game since it was the second night of a back-to-back. However, he’ll return to occupying his normal spot in the starting unit, which will push Jabari Smith Jr. back to the bench. Amen Thompson could return later this week, meaning this could be one of the last few games as a consistent starter for Eason.
