After reinjuring his left ankle in June, Edey went under the knife in early June. With Friday’s update, the Grizzlies included a return-to-play timeline of six to nine weeks, so the 7-foot-4 center won’t be available when the regular season begins. While this knocks Edey down draft boards, his absence (along with Jaren Jackson Jr.'s) makes Santi Aldama a more enticing fantasy asset. GG Jackson may also receive more opportunities to play, but Aldama is the player to target in drafts.

Edey reinjured the left ankle that he sprained during the regular season, resulting in the center undergoing surgery to stabilize the area. The Grizzlies announced on Tuesday that the procedure was successful, and he will be re-evaluated in four months. With Edey not expected to be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season, Memphis can either slide Brandon Clarke into the starting lineup or move Jaren Jackson Jr. to the five as part of a smaller quintet. Edey’s surgery may also impact Memphis’s approach to Santi Aldama, who will be a restricted free agent next month.

Charania’s report indicates that Edey re-sprained the same ankle that forced him to miss some time last season. It came during an offseason workout, and he is expected to miss time to start next season. Edey secured the starting center spot for Memphis late last season after playing an inconsistent role for most of his rookie year. Head coach Tuomas Iisalo could opt to use Brandon Clarke as the starting center if he’s healthy, or he could use a smaller starting lineup with Jaren Jackson Jr. to start next season. The Grizzlies’ PR team announced that a preliminary timeline will be provided after he has the surgery, but as of now, the expectation is that he won’t be available for opening night.

After recording four blocked shots on four occasions during the regular season, Edey nearly doubled that number on Saturday. While he did provide solid value in the rebounding category as well, the rookie center only attempted four shots on the day before fouling out. Edey’s production during the regular season did not match his Yahoo! ADP (98), but he offered solid late-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. His value for the 2025-26 season will be heavily influenced by the Grizzlies’ head coaching hire. Edey’s minutes and opportunities increased after Tuomas Iisola was named interim head coach, but he isn’t a lock to have the tag removed.

Edey has now played in two play-in games in his career and has two play-in double-doubles. He wasn’t able to match his 17 rebounds from Tuesday’s game, but Edey still made a big impact in this game to help Memphis return to the playoffs after a one-year absence. Edey will have his hands full for his playoff debut on Sunday as he matches up with Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein while also trying to make life difficult for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander when he drives to the basket.

While he struggled with his shot on Tuesday, the 7-foot-4 Edey was a force on the boards. Having reached double digits in rebounds in five of his last six appearances of the regular season, the rookie center grabbed 17 more on Tuesday. Seven rebounds were offensive, giving the Grizzlies extra possessions that helped erase a 20-point deficit. Edey was unable to do enough to help Memphis get the win and earn a playoff spot. Still, they’ll have another opportunity to do so on Friday against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Dallas and Sacramento.

Edey appears unlikely to play in Sunday’s regular-season finale, as the Grizzlies are locked into the play-in tournament. Jay Huff will likely move into the rotation if the rookie is officially ruled out. As Jaren Jackson Jr. is also doubtful, Huff would be worth rostering in active leagues.

Edey has now had at least 16 rebounds in four of his last six games and at least 13 rebounds in five of his last six games. The 22-year-old center is certainly a unique player with his propensity for rebounds. He’s also a force on the defensive end, which makes his low scoring games easier to digest. While he’s still young, this may be his fantasy ceiling, which is still more than valuable enough to make him a target going into drafts next season.

Edey surpassed 20 rebounds in a game for the first time this season, making up for a subpar scoring night. In addition to the 21 rebounds, the rookie recorded six assists, which was also a season-high. Over the past two weeks, Edey has provided sixth-round value in nine-cat formats and seventh-round value in eight-cat. The Grizzlies end the regular season with a four-game Week 23, starting with the Hornets on Tuesday.

Edey has now collected at least 11 rebounds in three of his last four games. Despite inconsistent playing time, the 22-year-old rookie center from Purdue is a rebounding machine when he’s out there. Edey has provided sixth-round fantasy value over the past two weeks as he’s also an excellent shot blocker.

Edey reached double digits in rebounds for the 15th time this season and first since March 9. That was also the last time the rookie recorded a double-double, moving his tally to 10 on the season. While Edey has offered sixth-round value in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks, five of six games were played without Ja Morant. Morant returned to the lineup on Saturday, and the 7-foot-4 rookie produced an excellent stat line. That’s encouraging for those who have Edey rostered, especially with the Grizzlies playing four games during Week 22.

With both Edey and Clarke sidelined on Monday, Jay Huff started at center, with Marvin Bagley filling out the backup minutes. Huff was more productive in the box score, though neither was a great option. Still, they’ll get another opportunity if Edey and Clarke miss another game.

The Grizzlies are certainly in a bind tonight against the Suns as their four top big men (Edey, Clarke, Santi Aldama, and Jaren Jackson Jr.) have all been ruled out. Marvin Bagley Jr. and Jay Huff are the next available options and would be worth streaming consideration given that someone will need to rebound the ball against Phoenix Monday.

Edey played just 22 minutes against the Mavericks on Friday, but he was a rebounding machine. The 22-year-old rookie center from Purdue grabbed 10 offensive rebounds alone in this one. Edey has shown he’s capable of providing fantasy value when on the floor, but his minutes aren’t consistently high enough to provide consistent points and rebounds. If they were, he’d have a lot more double-doubles this year.

Santi Aldama (calf) wasn’t available for Monday’s game, so Edey returned to the starting lineup after coming off the bench on Saturday. The rookie was productive, scoring 15 points on 75 percent shooting and grabbing five rebounds. Since the break, Edey has been an 11th-round player in eight-cat formats. Edey should be rostered in standard leagues regardless of where he is in the Grizzlies’ rotation. However, his value does take a hit when asked to come off the bench.

With Ja Morant and Santi Aldama sidelined, the Grizzlies will mix up their starting lineup. This is a favorable defensive matchup, so Kennard, Wells and Edey are worth streaming, particularly in deeper leagues.

Edey did not start Saturday’s game, with Santi Aldama replacing him in the starting lineup. However, with another fill-in (John Konchar) struggling, the 7-foot-4 rookie gave the Grizzlies productive minutes off the bench. A double-digit scorer in consecutive games for the first time since early February, Edey’s 17 points were the most for him since January 25 when he scored 19 against Utah. He took some of the minutes that likely would have gone to Konchar, who went scoreless and finished with three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot in 17 minutes. While coming off the bench would not help Edey’s fantasy value, the role would not prohibit him from being productive.
