Fontecchio has scored at least 13 points in three of his last four games, with Monday’s total being the highest in a game for him since October 30. The Heat forward is mainly a points and three-pointers option, and he’s been relatively effective in those areas. Fontecchio is averaging 11.5 points and 2.6 three-pointers per game. Jaime Jaquez Jr. (13/1/4 with one three-pointer on Monday) remains the superior option in category leagues, but deep-league managers seeking three-point production may consider Fontecchio.

Rostered in three percent of Yahoo! leagues, Fontecchio has been a consistently productive member of the Heat bench. He’s hit double figures in all five games, which includes a season-best 18-point night against the Spurs on Thursday. Averaging 3.2 three-pointers per game, Fontecchio is ranked just inside the top-75 in nine-cat formats. Nikola Jović was available despite a hip injury but only played 10 minutes. While he isn’t a must-add player in standard leagues, Fontecchio has outplayed Jović, who is still rostered in 25 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Initially questionable for Tuesday’s game, Fontecchio is available after going through pregame shootaround without any issues. With Norman Powell injuring his groin during the same session, additional minutes may be available on the wing. However, Jaime Jaquez Jr. is a superior streaming option to Fontecchio.

The update to Fontecchio’s status bodes well for his availability against Charlotte. With Norman Powell (groin) banged up, Fontecchio could be in line for additional minutes. He’s averaging 13.7 points and 2.7 triples across the first three games of the 2025-26 campaign.

Fontecchio has been an excellent reserve wing for Miami early on this season, but there is a chance he is sidelined against Charlotte. If that happens, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic would take on extra minutes off the bench.

Despite only playing eight minutes in the first half, Fontecchio made a huge impact early on by scoring 14 points with four three-pointers in the first half without missing a shot. However, after halftime, Fontecchio missed all four of his shot attempts. It was a nice start to help Miami basically decide the game before halftime, but Fontecchio should be left on the waiver wire.

After an inconsistent run through group play, Fontecchio capped his EuroBasket experience with a solid effort against Slovenia. This was the second game of 20 points or more for the Heat forward, who went off for 39 points in an August 31 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. On Sunday, Fontecchio shot 4-of-10 from three, and that’s the area that may translate the most when assessing his outlook with Miami next season. The Heat traded Duncan Robinson to Detroit, opening up room for someone to step forward as a capable catch-and-shoot option.

Fontecchio broke out in a big way Sunday afternoon after shooting a combined 5-of-21 from the field in games against Greece and Georgia. The Italian forward shot 7-of-10 from beyond the arc on the day as his team beat Bosnia and Herzegovina despite its head coach being ejected early in the third quarter. Fontecchio’s role with Italy does not match what he’ll be asked to do with the Heat next season, but his catch-and-shoot ability will be critical. Sunday’s performance was a reminder of the value he can offer in that area, even if 39-point games have not been the norm for him.

With this EuroBasket expected to be Danilo Gallinari’s (eight points, three rebounds and one three-pointer) final major international competition, Fontecchio is expected to figure prominently in Italy’s plans this summer and moving forward. Unfortunately, the Heat forward could not find his groove offensively, missing all six of his two-point attempts. Fontecchio will look to bounce back when the Italians face Georgia on Saturday in what stands to be another physical matchup. Traded to the Heat in early July, Fontecchio will look to carve out a consistent role when training camp opens in late September.

With the Heat losing Duncan Robinson to the Pistons, they received a player from Detroit via sign-and-trade. Fontecchio provided depth off the bench in his first full season with Detroit, averaging 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers in 16.5 minutes per game. While Miami needs shooting in the aftermath of Robinson’s exit, getting Fontecchio won’t be enough. Regarding fantasy basketball, he isn’t a player who should be targeted in fantasy drafts this fall.

The lopsided score in favor of Detroit helped Fontecchio set a new season-high for scoring in this game. He did an excellent job during cleanup time and scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half. Fontecchio also made all five of his attempts from deep. It was a fantastic night for him, but this isn’t something that managers should get used to. He has averaged 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 triples per game this season, which has him ranked outside the top-300 in nine-cat leagues.

Fontecchio will miss a second straight game due to a dislocated finger, and his next chance to return will be Friday when the Pistons host the Nuggets. Fontecchio’s absence won’t cause much of an impact in the world of fantasy hoops, as his production has been minimal this season when available.
