Powell played in the season opener, but Wolf has yet to make his regular season debut, and neither played on Friday. Both will be sidelined once again, which means Noah Clowney and Day’Ron Sharpe will continue to split the backup center minutes and Ziaire Williams will fill most of the reserve wing minutes.

Added to the injury report Wednesday afternoon, Wolf has been downgraded from questionable to out. With Noah Clowney and Day’Ron Sharpe available off the bench, Wolf’s opportunities would have been limited if he were healthy enough to play. He isn’t worth rostering in redraft leagues right now, but there may come a point later in the season when Wolf offers tangible fantasy value.

Absent from the initial injury report, Wolf is now questionable with a sprained left ankle. With the Nets embarking on a rebuild, there will be opportunities for the first-round pick out of Michigan to contribute, but that may not happen in the season opener. Wolf isn’t a must-roster player in fantasy leagues, but he’s worth tracking for “silly season” purposes.

One of Brooklyn’s five first-round picks in June’s draft, Wolf did not see his first action on Sunday until the fourth quarter. He made the most of his opportunity, combining with Tyrese Martin (11 points, one rebound, one block and two three-pointers) to help the Nets rally for the 111-109 victory. Given the number of young players at head coach Jordi Fernandez’s disposal, Wolf is in a tough spot regarding early-season fantasy relevance. However, that’s likely to change as the season wears on, especially with Nets owner Joe Tsai saying recently that the team’s priority is to secure a good pick in the 2026 draft.

The first round pick didn’t play in the first half of his first preseason game with Brooklyn, which was certainly disappointing to see. He dished out five assists in limited action, and his passing ability was what made him an enticing prospect. He’ll get the chance to put it on display this season, though he may not be able to consistently contribute for fantasy managers.

Wolf’s ceiling was on display Wednesday against the Magic. The 21-year-old power forward spaced the floor with two three-pointers and had a role as a playmaker with four assists. Wolf also pulled down six rebounds in 27 minutes. As one of the Nets’ four 2025 first-round picks, he will have plenty of opportunities for playing time this season.

Wolf was one of four 2025 first-round picks to play in Thursday’s game for the Nets, with Drake Powell being the exception as he recovers from a knee injury. The former Yale and Michigan standout struggled with his shot, missing all five attempts from the field. However, Wolf did provide value as a rebounder, which will be critical as he looks to carve out a role in the NBA. Given the youth of Brooklyn’s roster, Wolf will have ample opportunities to show what he’s capable of as a shooter and playmaker.

After spending two seasons at Yale, Wolf transferred to Michigan for his final collegiate season, where he averaged 13.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 blocks and one three-pointer per game. Simply put, there aren’t many seven-footers who can pass as well as Wolf. The shot was iffy, and the turnovers were bad, but his vision is unique. There are also questions about how effective he can be defensively, though the shot-blocking numbers were decent. Still, it all comes back to the passing for Wolf. A center that can operate as an offensive hub is a coveted piece in the modern NBA. While the Nets do have some young post players on their roster, Wolf brings a different skill set due to his ability to shoot and serve as a facilitator.
