Horford will sit out the first leg of this back-to-back, so he should be back to take on the Spurs on Wednesday. Quinten Post should play a decent-sized role as the primary center option against the Thunder, though his fantasy impact is limited.

Tuesday’s game is the first of two in as many nights for the Warriors, who visit the Spurs on Wednesday. Horford will miss one of the games; it’s just a matter of which one. His availability impacts Quinten Post, who played 24 minutes in Sunday’s win over the Pacers. With Stephen Curry (illness) off the injury report, Post’s playing time may hold steady if Horford sits.

After missing Friday’s loss to the Nuggets with a foot injury, Horford played 18 minutes off the bench on Sunday. One positive about the veteran center/forward is that he doesn’t need to be on the floor long to provide value, as evidenced by his 4-of-6 night from beyond the arc. However, the combination of limited minutes and Horford not being available for both games of back-to-backs makes him a challenging player to roster in most leagues. And with Golden State opening Week 4 with a back-to-back, he’ll be available for three games at most.

Horford is available after missing Friday’s loss to the Nuggets with a foot injury. However, the Warriors have taken a measured approach to the veteran center’s playing time, which has limited Horford’s fantasy value. He isn’t a must-roster player in 12-team leagues.

Horford missed Friday’s game against Denver and could remain out against the Pacers. Trayce Jackson-Davis and Quinten Post would be in line for more minutes, though neither would play enough minutes to be worth streaming if Horford doesn’t suit up.

Horford’s absence on Friday will leave the Warriors thinner in the frontcourt when facing Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets’ strong frontcourt. Horford recorded a season-high 29 minutes and 13 points in a win over Denver earlier this season. Without him in the lineup on Friday, Trayce Jackson-Davis should see more opportunities as the potential backup center behind Quinten Post.

Horford rested for Tuesday’s matchup with Phoenix on the first leg of Golden State’s back-to-back set, but his foot injury is a new one. If Horford is unable to play on Friday, Quinten Post would likely pick up his minutes.

While he did provide decent value in the rebound and steals categories, Horford had a brutal night shooting the basketball. The veteran center missed all seven of his three-point attempts and was 0-of-8 overall. Horford did play 27 minutes, the first time he’s surpassed 20 this season. It’s clear that Horford and the Warriors are playing the “long game” to ensure he’s healthy for the stretch run. However, this approach doesn’t do fantasy managers any favors.

Horford isn’t playing back-to-backs this season, so he’ll sit out the first leg of this, which means he should be available against the Kings on Wednesday. Quinten Post should fill out extra minutes off the bench as the backup center.

After sitting out Monday’s win over the Grizzlies, Horford is available for Tuesday’s game. During his pregame availability, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the plan moving forward is to limit the veteran center to 22 minutes, with the ability to exceed that number occasionally. While Horford will remain important to the Warriors, the playing time limits his upside in fantasy basketball.

Horford remains on a plan that has him sitting out one game of back-to-backs. With Tuesday’s game against the Clippers being a nationally televised matchup, the veteran center not playing on Monday is unsurprising. While Quinten Post started Friday’s loss to the Trail Blazers, he only played 16 minutes while Trayce Jackson-Davis logged 17 off the bench. Neither player is worth streaming, especially with the Warriors having the ability to go small and use Draymond Green at the five.

Horford didn’t do much in his debut for the Warriors, but he was able to turn in a solid line in his second game for the team, which included a clutch triple in overtime to give the Warriors a lead. This was the first night of a back-to-back, so Horford won’t play against the Trail Blazers on Friday. That should open the door for Quinten Post to fill in the backup center minutes.

Horford said that Steve Kerr told him he’d continue coming off the bench, and they want to keep him around 20 minutes to start the year. He could eventually be moved into the starting lineup, but it appears that Jonathan Kuminga will continue to be a starter for now.

Horford not playing both games of a back-to-back is unsurprising, as that became the norm during his second stint with the Celtics. That will carry over to the Warriors, with the veteran center already ruled out for the second game of Golden State’s upcoming back-to-back. More playing time will be available to Quinten Post after he played nine minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Lakers, but that’s unlikely to impact fantasy basketball.

After being under restrictions regarding his availability for back-to-backs in recent seasons, Horford was limited to 20 minutes on Tuesday. That factored into the Warriors’ decision to start Jonathan Kuminga, shifting Draymond Green (8/7/9/1/2 with one three-pointer) into the starting center role while Horford came off the bench. The approach worked against the Lakers, but fantasy managers invested in Horford aren’t in a great spot. One has to assume that his availability for back-to-backs will remain in doubt, but the playing time may be something that few bargained for. Horford averaged nearly 28 minutes per game last season; hopefully, he can get close to that as the 2025-26 campaign rolls on.

Horford logged his highest-scoring game of the preseason on Friday, using accurate shooting to reach double digits in points for the first time. The veteran center’s late offseason signing gave him little runway to get acclimated with the team prior to the start of the regular season. Still, he’ll likely serve as the Warriors’ starter on opening night and provide the team with much-needed size that they lacked at the position a season ago.

Horford became the final piece of the new-look “Olden State” Warriors when he inked a multi-year deal at the end of September. The 39-year-old brings veteran leadership, floor spacing, solid defense and a high basketball IQ to a team looking to maximize the final seasons of Jimmy Butler III, Draymond Green and Stephen Curry.

There have been reports over the past few months that Horford would eventually sign with Golden State, but everyone was waiting on the Jonathan Kuminga situation to be resolved. However, with preseason games set to begin this week, they went ahead and got him under contract. Horford will turn 40 next summer, and while he is still able to play at a high level, it does come as a slight surprise that this isn’t just a one-year deal. He’ll likely play a large role in the frontcourt as the Warriors look to build a contending team.

Stevens appears to be pointing out the obvious. While Stevens confirmed the Celtics have made an offer to the 39-year-old power forward, it’s no secret that Horford is said to have a robust free agent market and the Celtics remain clouded by uncertainty given Jayson Tatum’s injury. At his age, Horford is more likely to ring-chase somewhere with a better chance of winning the title next year.

Charania’s report indicated there is a lot of “uncertainty” in Boston with Jayson Tatum (Achilles) set to miss at least most of next season. The 39-year-old Horford could opt to sign elsewhere to try and win another ring, since the Celtics may not be able to put together a strong enough team to make that happen this season. Horford would play a significant role if he remains in Boston now that Kristaps Porzingis is in Atlanta. If he chooses to leave, multiple contenders should have plenty of interest.

While Horford shot the ball reasonably well in Game 6, the veteran center’s impact was muted as Boston lost by 38 points. Horford reached double figures in three of the series’ final four games, providing increased value with Kristaps Porzingis battling an unspecified illness. However, it wasn’t enough to give Boston a shot at winning the series, especially after losing Jayson Tatum to a ruptured Achilles tendon. Horford, who failed to crack the top-100 in fantasy value, will be a free agent this summer. How the front office views the roster after Tatum’s injury will be one of the major offseason storylines in the NBA.

Horford playing 34 minutes on Monday was not uncommon; he played 32 minutes or more in each of the final four games of Boston’s first-round series against Orlando. The difference was that he came off the bench against the Knicks, with Kristaps Porzingis’ illness forcing Horford to play more minutes after halftime. Porzingis, who missed eight games late in the regular season due to an illness, did not return. His health will be a key storyline for Wednesday’s Game 2, with Horford taking on a more prominent role if Porzingis cannot play.

With Jayson Tatum (wrist) unavailable, Horford was inserted into the Celtics’ starting lineup for Game 2. The veteran big was just 1-of-4 from beyond the arc, but he provided solid production in the rebound and assist categories. Boston also received solid contributions from Payton Pritchard, who added 14 points (5-of-11 FGs, 1-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, one steal and three three-pointers in 32 minutes off the bench. If Tatum remains out for Friday’s Game 3, expect Horford and Pritchard to shoulder heavier workloads again.

Horford suffered a sprained right knee during Sunday’s win over the Wizards and will not play on Tuesday. Kristaps Porzingis (illness) could be cleared to play, which would more than help account for Horford’s absence. Also in line to benefit is Luke Kornet, who grabbed 14 rebounds on Sunday.

Horford missed Wednesday’s game with a left big toe sprain he’s been dealing with, but is off the injury report ahead of Friday’s game against the Suns. The 38-year-old center might not be in the starting lineup with Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis also available, but should have a significant role.

The Celtics don’t have a back-to-back to navigate, but they do have to concern themselves with Horford’s lingering toe injury. The doubtful tag suggests he will not play on Wednesday, meaning Al’s next opportunity to suit up would be on Friday against the Suns. Luke Kornet would have added importance, especially if Kristaps Porzingis is downgraded from questionable to out.

With Jaylen Brown sidelined, Joe Mazzulla opted to start Xavier Tillman instead of Horford or Sam Hauser. However, Tillman only played eight minutes. Horford ended up getting the minutes boost and set a new season-high with 26 points in 37 minutes. He also tied his season-high for three-pointers. This was an excellent performance for the 38-year-old, which is encouraging with the postseason approaching. Boston is going to need Horford to provide depth if they want to repeat as champions, and this type of performance is certainly what they’re looking for in the playoffs.

Both players sat out against the Spurs on Saturday, but they’ll both take the court following a one-game absence. Jaylen Brown (knee) is questionable, so both Horford and Pritchard could see additional minutes if Brown ends up sitting out.

Horford will miss Saturday’s game, which will be his first absence that isn’t part of a back-to-back January. Luke Kornet will likely fill out most of the backup center minutes, but with Kristaps Porzingis healthy, Kornet’s only path to providing real value is if Boston runs away with this game early.

Horford has dealt with a sprained left big toe for a few weeks, but most of his absences have been due to the Celtics playing a back-to-back. That is not the case for Saturday, which is concerning, even if Boston is virtually locked into the two-seed in the East. If Horford cannot play, look for Luke Kornet to pick up additional minutes off the bench.
