The Nuggets won’t have Aaron Gordon for Sunday’s game, as he’s sitting due to hamstring injury management. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Holmes, but don’t be surprised if Zeke Nnaji plays more minutes. That’s how things worked out earlier in January when injuries to Nikola Jokić and Jonas Valančiūnas pushed Holmes, who missed all of last season with a ruptured Achilles, into the starting lineup.

Murray is the only regular in the Nuggets’ starting lineup. Holmes enters the starting lineup for Friday’s game, two days after Jonas Valančiūnas suffered a strained calf. While the move does raise the rookie’s ceiling, fantasy managers should not expect to see Holmes play starters’ minutes, as he missed all of last season with a ruptured Achilles.

Holmes has played well through three Summer League games, averaging 11 points and seven rebounds per game. He tore his Achilles last summer, so the fact he has been able to produce at a high level is impressive. He’ll likely just be a depth piece on the bench for the Nuggets this season, but it is good to see him playing well.

Having suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during his summer league debut last year, Holmes played in an organized game for the first time in 363 days on Thursday. He played well, shooting 66.7 percent from the field overall and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Holmes is another player impacted by Denver acquiring Jonas Valančiūnas from the Kings, as opportunities on the back end of the rotation may be limited. However, the rookie forward is a versatile player who can be used at the four or the five, depending on the matchup. Holmes is worth watching, especially for those competing in dynasty leagues.
