With P.J. Washington (foot) sidelined, Hardy started for the first time this season. The former second-round pick has been a strong scoring option at times throughout his career and was able to provide a few buckets in this one, but he didn’t end up doing much else in his 28 minutes. If Washington remains out against the Warriors on Christmas Day, and Hardy starts again, he won’t be worth streaming.

The Mavericks are without P.J. Washington for Tuesday’s game, opening up a spot in the starting lineup. They’ll go small, with Hardy moving into the starting five. While the opportunity is there for him to provide added fantasy value, Hardy is not a must-stream player.

Hardy came off the bench and notched his best scoring performance of the season. All of his production came in the second half once the score was lopsided and in favor of the Thunder. Still, he shot well in his 20 minutes of game action, particularly from beyond the arc, and finished as the Mavericks’ leading scorer on the evening. Regardless of Hardy’s strong outing on Friday, he’s not a player fantasy managers should be keeping tabs on at the moment.

Hardy’s stat line was unsurprising to those familiar with his game. While the absences meant more opportunities for the third-year guard, his inefficiency limits Hardy’s fantasy ceiling. The Mavericks will play Sacramento in the play-in tournament on Wednesday, and Hardy is unlikely to be an impactful rotation member.

Hardy exited during the fourth quarter of Friday’s game after spraining his right ankle, and it is expected to keep him sidelined on the second night of the Mavericks’ back-to-back. Max Christie should take on extra minutes with Hardy expected to be out.

Hardy was productive in 29 minutes, but his Friday night came to a painful end during the fourth quarter. He stepped on a Clippers’ player’s foot and sprained his right ankle. Requiring assistance to get back to the locker room, Hardy could not put any weight on his right leg. At a minimum, fantasy managers should assume he will not be available for Saturday’s rematch with the Clippers. Between Hardy’s injury and Klay Thompson (illness) exiting during the first half, Max Christie (11/6/1/1 with one three-pointer in 33 minutes) should play plenty on Saturday, possibly as a starter.

Hardy only played 20 minutes with Brandon Williams (back) available Thursday. The 22-year-old point guard was very efficient as he made five three-pointers. Hardy has scored at least 20 points in 2-of-7 games in March, but hasn’t played more than 25 minutes in any of those games. He’s only usable when the Mavericks are missing players that would necessitate him seeing more minutes.

Due to the Mavericks’ lack of depth, Hardy and Jones should play rotation minutes on Wednesday. As for which player offers the higher ceiling, that would be Hardy. However, the gap is minimal due to the Mavericks’ lack of healthy frontcourt players. Both players are worth a roll of the dice in deep leagues.

Hardy and Jones have been out with their respective injuries since March 3. Getting them back will give the Mavericks some much-needed depth at their respective positions. Due to Dallas’ lack of healthy bigs, Jones may have a higher fantasy ceiling despite Hardy being the player with a standard contract.

Hardy was initially listed as doubtful and has now officially been ruled out for a seventh-straight game. Brandon Williams and Spencer Dinwiddie will continue to play big minutes in the backcourt for the shorthanded Mavs.

Hardy has missed Dallas’ last six games, and that unfortunate streak appears likely to reach seven on Sunday. Brandon Williams will continue to figure prominently in the Mavericks’ perimeter rotation and is worth streaming for this matchup.

Hardy sustained an ankle injury during Monday night’s game against the Kings. The 22-year-old point guard was set to see additional minutes in the absence of Kyrie Irving, but he’ll find himself joining Irving on the sideline for now. Haynes’ report that Hardy will miss “a period of time” clouds Hardy’s timeline to return, though it sounds like he’s more week-to-week than day-to-day.
