After scoring just six points on Saturday, JHS stepped up on the offensive end with VJ Edgecombe sidelined with a minor thumb injury. He didn’t replicate his eight assists, and turnovers were an issue, but it was encouraging to see him have a strong scoring performance. He’ll continue to get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with Philadelphia, though he’ll likely spend most of next season in the G League.

JHS ended last season with the 76ers after the 2023 first-round pick’s time with the Lakers came to an abrupt end. Now, he’s getting the chance to prove he belongs in the NBA. His first two years in the NBA were disappointing, and at this point, he shouldn’t be on anyone’s fantasy radar.

Hood-Schifino is back after sitting out Wednesday’s loss to the Wizards. His return likely means fewer minutes for Marcus Bagley and Phillip Wheeler, who both played rotation minutes on Wednesday. Hood-Schifino has not provided consistent production, but he’ll get the minutes needed to achieve fantasy relevance in deep leagues.

JHS has played well in Philadelphia when compared to his time with the Lakers and Jazz. The former first-round pick should see a significant reserve role if he is available, with Jared Butler, Marcus Bagley and Phillip Wheeler taking on extra minutes if JHS is out.

A disappointment during his time with the Lakers, the 2023 first-round pick has had an opportunity to prove himself as a pro in Philadelphia. Hood-Schifino had his best game as a pro on Sunday, with 19 points and five three-pointers being personal bests. This was Hood-Schifino’s second game in double figures as an NBA player. One game does not make him a player who has to be added ahead of Philadelphia’s four-game Week 20. However, Hood-Schifino won’t lack opportunities to solidify his status as an NBA player between now and the end of the season.

The 17th overall pick in the 2023 draft, Hood-Schifino struggled with injuries during his time with the Lakers. He was traded to the Jazz as part of the Luka Doncic/Anthony Davis deal, with Utah waiving him shortly thereafter. Hood-Schifino now heads to Philadelphia, and there may be opportunities to play if the 76ers decide to shut down their proven veterans. The 76ers have waived David Roddy to free up a roster spot for Hood-Schifino.
