It was an off night overall for Harden, who didn’t record a single rebound over 40 minutes of action somehow, but he did enough to record his fourth double-double in eight games to open the season. He struggled mightily from downtown in this one, draining just 2 of 10 from three-point range. The Clippers, who have been without star Kawhi Leonard for three straight games due to a sprained ankle, will get back to business on Monday when they host the Hawks.

Harden returns to the lineup after a brief one-game absence. His return will be a welcome one for the Clippers, who will again be without Kawhi Leonard (ankle) as they look to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday. Harden is second on the team in scoring and is one of the better facilitators in the league. He remains a very productive player in fantasy leagues deep into his NBA career.

The Clippers will be without their top two players for Thursday’s game, as Harden and Kawhi Leonard (ankle) will be unavailable. In the case of The Beard, he’ll likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Chris Paul. Given his credentials, CP3 is worth rostering wherever available, especially with this being the only game of the night.

Harden was rolling during the first half, recording 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal. However, he and the Clippers could not hold off the Thunder in the second half, and he spent the final 6:35 on the bench. Obviously, having Kawhi Leonard and Bradley Beal would have helped, but Harden was placed in a spot where he had to shoulder even more of the workload than usual. Both should be back for Thursday’s game against the Suns.

Harden and the Clippers fought back down the stretch but fell one point short. While the final stat line was good, with Harden making some key shots in crunch time, he was also responsible for six turnovers. As a team, the Clippers committed 16 turnovers in the second half, continuing a problematic trend of being loose with the ball. However, despite Monday’s defeat, Harden remains an excellent player to have rostered in fantasy leagues, even with the turnover issues.

Harden has recorded three points/assists double-doubles in five games, with his one-assist effort against the Warriors on Tuesday weighing down his average in that category. On Friday, The Beard notched a season-high assist total while extending his streak of games with at least 20 points to four. Harden is providing top-20 value in eight-cat formats, which aligns with his Yahoo! ADP. The Clippers won’t play again during Week 2 but open Week 3 with a Monday/Tuesday back-to-back.

Defensively, the Warriors limited Harden’s ability to get his teammates quality shots. He recorded just one assist and missed all three of his field-goal attempts in the second half. Even a great player like Harden produces the occasional dud, yet he still led the Clippers in scoring. He’ll look to bounce back when the Clippers host the Pelicans on Friday.

Harden needed only 28 minutes to reach 30 points on Friday, using high efficiency on low volume, and production from the free-throw line to do so. The 14-point first quarter did the heavy lifting, while solid work on the glass and usual productivity as a facilitator rounded out his performance. Harden didn’t play during the fourth quarter due to the lopsided score, but still concluded with a productive game.

Harden didn’t exactly lift his team up in this one. While he didn’t play as poorly as Kawhi Leonard, The Beard had just 15 points on 12 shots and was 2-of-9 from behind the three-point line. The Clippers will just have to move past this embarrassing season opening loss to the Jazz and hope it’s not a harbinger for the rest of the season.

While the Clippers brought in Bradley Beal and Chris Paul this offseason, Beal is the one who moves into the starting lineup for the season opener. Paul still figures to have a significant bench role this season backing up James Harden and perhaps even lightening his workload as coach Tyronn Lue has mentioned in training camp.

Harden did not score much in the Clippers’ preseason opener, but he did lead the team in assists. By now, fantasy managers are aware of what The Beard brings to the table. He can offer first-round value in category leagues, but the playing time will likely decrease due to the addition of Chris Paul to the roster. In fact, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said early in camp that he wants to reduce Harden’s workload this season. CP3 played 17 minutes off the bench and is reliable enough to ensure the Clippers don’t overwork Harden this season.

It’s an understandable proposition from Lue, given Harden’s age, though he cited Kawhi Leonard’s healthy offseason and the team’s offseason additions as his reasoning. Los Angeles’ roster is one of the oldest in the Association, but it is also one of the deepest, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Harden operated without the ball in his hands as often he has in previous seasons. This shouldn’t dissuade fantasy managers from drafting him within the top-50 picks, but less touches does lower his ceiling.

Harden held a player option worth a little over $36.3 million for the 2025-26 season, which he declined. His decision to opt out and agree to a new deal gives the Clippers added financial flexibility, as the second year is a partially-guaranteed player option. Returning to Los Angeles has given Harden’s career a needed boost after disappointing stints with the Nets and 76ers. “The Beard” finished last season as a top-10 player in eight-cat formats and top-15 in nine-cat. Given his importance to the Clippers, Harden should again be an early-round pick in fantasy drafts.

After scoring 28 in a critical Game 6 victory, it appeared that Harden was ready to have a big Game 7. Unfortunately, it just didn’t happen. The assists were great, but he didn’t step up as a scorer in the way that a star should. Harden will be 36 at the start of next season, but there is no indication that he’ll slow down during the regular season. Managers should draft him with confidence next season, even if he continues to struggle during the postseason.

Harden rebounded from a quiet 11-point, five-assist performance in Game 5 with his second-highest scoring output of the series. The former 2018 NBA MVP was much more aggressive as a shot taker from the start and scored 21 first-half points after generating only nine total field-goal attempts the previous game. He led the team in scoring and also contributed as a facilitator, leading Los Angeles in assists for the game. Harden will have a chance to deliver another big performance in Saturday’s Game 7.

Harden had a quiet night on Tuesday, barely cracking double figures in scoring and failing to register double-digit shot attempts. The 2018 NBA MVP has faced a stifling Nuggets defense that, over the last few games, has forced the ball out of his hands, leading to inferior performances compared to earlier games in the series. Harden will look to have a bounce-back performance on Thursday as he tries to lead the Clippers to a season-saving victory in Game 6.

After attempting at least 14 shots in each of the first three games of the series, Harden was only responsible for 11 in Game 4. And the Nuggets were able to fluster The Beard, with things coming to a head in the form of an altercation late in the second quarter. Harden did make some solid plays late, with the Clippers ripping off a 32-9 fourth-quarter run to get back into the game. However, it wasn’t enough to secure the victory, with the Nuggets pulling even at two games apiece. He’ll need to be better in Game 5 on Tuesday in Denver.

Harden’s scoring has decreased since he dropped 32 in the Clippers’ series-opening defeat, but it has not negatively impacted the team’s success. In Game 3, The Beard was one of four starters to score at least 19 points, but the Clippers holding Denver to 83 points was the biggest reason why they won the first-ever playoff game at Intuit Dome by 34. Harden and the Clippers will look to take a 3-1 lead when they host Game 4 on Saturday.

After dropping 32 points in Game 1, Harden didn’t replicate that scoring in Game 2. That can mostly be attributed to Kawhi Leonard taking over this game, which led to fewer shots from Harden. The series shifts to Los Angeles, and Thursday will be the first playoff game in the Intuit Dome. Harden had 35 points and 10 assists against the Rockets in the Clippers’ last home game. Unless Kawhi goes nuclear again, expect Harden to be more involved on offense in Game 3.

Despite getting into first-half foul trouble, Harden had an excellent afternoon in Denver. While the production did not net the Clippers a victory in Game 1, The Beard made 50 percent of his shots and only committed two turnovers. Regardless of who the Nuggets assign to him defensively, this has the potential to be a massive series for Harden numbers-wise. He and the Clippers will look to earn a road split when they face the Nuggets in Game 2 on Monday.

Harden and the Clippers did what many did not believe them capable of before the season began, avoiding the play-in tournament due to their win in San Francisco. The Beard finished a game with at least 30 points and 10 assists for the 106th time in his career, tied for second-most in league history. Due to Sunday’s victory, the Clippers will be the fifth seed in the West, and they’ll face Denver in the first round.

Harden recorded the 80th triple-double of his career and made a few big plays late to help the Clippers secure the win. He also had a few rough plays down the stretch that nearly cost them, including two missed free throws and a turnover that gave the Kings the ball with two seconds left and a chance to win. It has been an excellent season for Harden, and he has really picked up his play recently as the Clippers push for a higher seed in the playoffs. They’ll take on the Warriors in the regular season finale on Sunday.

Harden recorded his second points/assists double-double in three games on Saturday, with the 14 helpers being the most he’s recorded in a game since March 4. Over the past month, The Beard has provided top-10 value in eight- and nine-cat formats. While the turnovers have decreased slightly, Harden’s scoring output has increased. He’s averaged 23.9 points per game over the past month, just over one point higher than his season average of 22.5. The Clippers end the regular season with a four-game Week 23, starting with the Spurs on Tuesday.

Surprisingly, Harden’s double-double on Wednesday was his first since March 16. However, despite the decrease in assist production, The Beard has been a first-round player in eight- and nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. Harden has shot 45.7 percent from the field during this stretch, more than five percentage points higher than his 40.1 percent shooting over the course of the season. If he can maintain the improved efficiency through the Clippers’ final two games of Week 22, Harden may be able to carry some fantasy managers to a championship.

The 25-year-old point guard wasn’t credited with any steals in his last four games entering play Monday, in fact the seven steals were as many as Harden had in his last eight games before Monday. It’s a nice bonus for fantasy managers to an otherwise pedestrian stat line. Harden will drag down your field-goal shooting percentage in fantasy leagues, but the assists and charity stripe help often make up for it. The steals are just an added bonus.

Harden shot just 7-of-18 from the floor and 4-of-12 from beyond the arc while committing five turnovers. His minus-17 in the box score was the lowest mark among all players in the game. Harden’s real life performance fell a little flat, but fantasy managers (particularly those in points leagues) won’t scoff at his quality counting stats.

Harden has dished out six assists in two straight games, the fewest he’s had over a two-game stretch since late February. However, the nature of Friday’s game had much to do with the low tally against the Nets, as the Clippers took a 36-point lead into the fourth quarter. Harden did not play during the final frame, getting a head start on his postgame recovery ahead of Sunday’s game in Cleveland. Given the opposition, fantasy managers should expect Harden to log starters’ minutes after only playing 25 in Brooklyn.
