Both the Wizards’ backup centers have been ruled out. Alex Sarr won’t have much support, so Anthony Gill and JT Thor could be called upon for some small ball center minutes against Boston.

While Vukcevic has not missed a game due to his injury, Holmes was held out of Thursday’s loss to the Magic. His absence led to more playing time for fellow reserve Anthony Gill, who has not been productive enough to merit being streamed in most fantasy leagues. Alexandre Sarr plays the lion’s share of the minutes at center, limiting the backups’ fantasy value.

Holmes left Wednesday’s game against the Wizards with a shoulder injury and didn’t return. He was initially ruled doubtful for Thursday and subsequently ruled out. Anthony Gil (hip) could see additional minutes if he’s available and if not JT Thor would be the next man up.

Holmes suffered a right shoulder contusion during the first half of Wednesday’s game. While he did return to the bench area after spending some time in the locker room, the veteran forward/center was shut down for the rest of the night during the third quarter. Holmes’ absence has resulted in more playing time for Anthony Gill, who played 19 minutes through the first three quarters.

Holmes’ best games came as a starter when Alexandre Sarr was hurt, but he has played well since returning to a reserve role. He ranks inside the top-75 in nine-cat leagues over the past two weeks despite playing a reserve role for four of his five games during that stretch. Holmes’ night came to an end a few minutes early after he was ejected from elbowing Ausar Thompson in the face. Holmes was being trapped and was trying to clear space, so while he may not have intentionally taken a shot at Thompson, there was enough contact to warrant an early exit.

Both players were sidelined Monday, but the they are off the injury report for Tuesday’s tilt with Detroit. The impact of Jones’ availability is negligible, but Holmes’ availability will impact Tristan Vukcevic’s minutes as Alexandre Sarr’s backup at center.

Holmes has missed two of the Wizards’ last three games, while Jones has not made his debut for the team after being acquired from the Kings at the February trade deadline. Holmes’ absence means Tristan Vukcevic will play rotation minutes as Alexandre Sarr’s backup. He is not a must-stream player in that spot.

Holmes played 20 minutes off the bench in Monday’s loss to the Heat, again serving as Alexandre Sarr’s backup. If he’s unable to play against Utah, Tristan Vukcevic will move into that role. However, Vukcevic is unlikely to get the minutes needed to impact fantasy basketball.

Starting for the injured Alexandre Sarr (ankle), Holmes did not miss a shot on Wednesday. The 20 points were a season-high, with the offensive output making up for the non-existent defensive stats. Holmes is unlikely to revisit his fantasy basketball “glory days” at this stage in his career, but he’s worth a look in deep leagues when allowed to start. Sarr’s absence also means more playing time for Tristan Vukcevic, who finished Wednesday’s defeat with eight points, two rebounds, one assist, one block and one three-pointer in 19 minutes.
