Henderson began non-contact work earlier this month, but now he has progressed to basketball-specific activities. The Blazers will see how he responds to that increase in workload in two weeks, and then we should have a better idea of his exact timeline.

It appears all three Trail Blazers are still a ways away from returning to the floor. Scoot has yet to suit up this season, while Holiday has been out almost a month and Thybulle hasn’t played since October. Portland has made it work without Scoot and Jrue by starting Sidy Cissoko and putting the ball in Deni Avdija’s hands, though the return of either would help this rotation tremendously.

Henderson has yet to appear in a game this season, as he suffered a torn left hamstring during an individual workout before the start of training camp. As recently as Tuesday, he told The Athletic that he still wasn’t doing much movement. Henderson has been limited to stationary shooting and some ball-handling drills, so it’s crucial to keep in mind that the two-to-four-week timeframe is for a re-evaluation of the injury. With Jrue Holiday (calf) out at least one to two weeks, expect to see plenty of Deni Avdija on the ball. Caleb Love should continue to play rotation minutes off the bench, and he’s worth tracking in deep leagues.

Henderson suffered a torn left hamstring during a workout just before the Trail Blazers opened training camp. While he has progressed in his recovery, the lack of clearance to run, jump or engage in other explosive movements indicates his return to action is not imminent. “I can walk around to spots, but no jumping, no exploding,” Henderson told The Athletic on Tuesday. “I shoot free throws, some ballhandling, but without moving much.” With Jrue Holiday and Blake Wesley also injured, Portland has relied on Shaedon Sharpe, Deni Avdija and Caleb Love to take on playmaking responsibilities. Holiday’s injury is not expected to be long-term, so he’ll assume the starting point guard duties once again when he’s cleared to play. As for Henderson, fantasy managers with an open IL+ slot can continue to stash him. However, those working with injury-riddled rosters may need to move on and seek alternatives.

Unsurprisingly, Portland will extend the rookie contracts of their 2023 and 2024 first-round picks. This will be a big season for Henderson and Murray as they look for new contracts next summer, though Scoot’s season won’t get off to the ideal start, as he’s set to be sidelined for the start of the year.

According to the Trail Blazers, Henderson suffered a torn left hamstring during a workout earlier this week. The initial expectation is that he’ll miss anywhere from four to eight weeks, meaning the third-year guard is highly unlikely to be available for opening night. Henderson’s absence places more responsibility upon Jrue Holiday’s shoulders as he looks to rebound from a 2024-25 season that was underwhelming by fantasy standards. The injury news may also mean that Deni Avdija will have more opportunities to serve as a primary playmaker, raising his fantasy ceiling after an excellent first season in Portland.

Scoot will sit out a fourth straight game, which means Dalano Banton should get some additional playing time. Banton’s fantasy value will be even higher if Anfernee Simons (arm) sits out.

Henderson will miss a third straight game as he remains in the league’s concussion protocol. Dalano Banton will play additional rotation minutes, and he would get another start if Anfernee Simons does not play. Simons is questionable with a right forearm contusion.

Henderson will remain sidelined for a second-straight game while in the league’s concussion protocol. Dalano Banton should continue to fill out the backup point guard minutes, but with Anfernee Simons questionable again, he could move into the starting lineup. That is the only scenario where Banton would be worth streaming. He was held scoreless in 19 minutes off the bench on Sunday with Henderson out.

Henderson will miss at least one game after landing in the league’s concussion protocol. While his absence does not change anything regarding Anfernee Simons’ status as the starting point guard, Henderson not playing likely means more playing time for Dalano Banton. Banton is not a must-stream player in this spot, but that would change if Simons also misses Sunday’s game. Simons is questionable with a sore right forearm.

Henderson’s production has been inconsistent after a run in which he reached double figures in 11 of 12 games after the All-Star break. The second-year guard has surpassed 10 points three times in his last six appearances, shooting 32.4 percent from the field. Therefore, Henderson is ranked outside the top 250 in eight-cat formats during this stretch. The playing time will be there, and Tuesday’s performance was a step in the right direction. As has been the case throughout the season, efficiency is the key for Henderson.

Henderson was outstanding on Wednesday, recording his second 30-point game of the season and doing so efficiently. While the second-year guard’s game isn’t “fantasy-friendly” for those competing in category leagues, he is more valuable in points leagues. And with Henderson playing 37 minutes to starting guard Anfernee Simons’ 31, he’s worth the risk during the fantasy playoffs. Simons, who only played 11 minutes in the third and fourth quarters, finished with six points, four rebounds, five assists and two three-pointers.

Henderson’s 22 points were the most he’s had in a game since January 30. The 21-year-old point guard had shot 41 percent or less from the field in three games in March entering play Friday, but against the Thunder he shot 53 percent from the field. Henderson might’ve benefited from additional usage with Deni Avdija (quad) and Dalano Banton (personal) out, but he’ll need more consistent minutes in general to be a legitimate fantasy asset.
