Hendricks will miss a second straight game, and with Kyle Anderson (back) and Kevin Love (rest) also sidelined, Kyle Filipowski is a prime candidate to take on a larger role off the bench as both a backup power forward and center.

Hendricks was bumped to the bench over the weekend with Isaiah Collier returning for the Jazz. Expect Collier and Svi Mykhailiuk to see additional minutes with Hendricks out of the rotation entirely against the Timberwolves on Monday.

Hendricks got his first start of the season and ended up being one of Utah’s most productive players. The third-year forward was one of three Jazz players to score in double figures on Sunday, and he was the only starter to shoot at least 50.0 percent from the field. Hendricks also attacked the offensive glass hard in his 25 minutes and made contributions from beyond the arc. He performed well in his first start and could be a name to highlight and remember for later in the fantasy season.

Mykhailuk and Hendricks will both enter the starting lineup on Sunday, filling in for Kyle Filipowski and Walker Kessler. Neither player’s production has jumped off the page from a fantasy basketball standpoint yet this season, but with starters’ minutes, they could be interesting streaming options as the Jazz look to snap a two-game losing streak. Nurkic, in particular, could be on double-double watch — he’s averaging 7.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game.

Wednesday’s game may not have been official, but it was a big moment for Hendricks. The Jazz forward was playing in a live game for the first time since October 28, when he fractured his leg during a game against the Mavericks. He looked good against the Rockets, shooting the ball well from the field while being impactful as a defender and secondary playmaker. Utah did not have Lauri Markkanen for Wednesday’s game, and his absence makes a difference. However, Hendricks began last season as a starter and appears likely to regain that role. He’ll be worth a look as a late-round pick, especially with the Jazz rebuilding.

Hendricks went down with the injury just a few games into last season and ended up missing the rest of it, so this is a positive update after not much was said over the past 11 months. Hendricks is one of, if not the, best defender on the roster, so he’ll have a strong case to be part of the starting lineup. The offense was poor during his three games last year, but any improvement in that regard will help him have a successful third year.
