Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he wants to have Herro on the road because he thinks the return to play is made easier the more time he spends with the team. The guard had surgery on his left ankle on September 19 but is optimistic that he can return to the court before the end of November. Norman Powell (groin) will continue to start in place of Herro, but with Powell missing time recently, Pelle Larsson has been filling the void. Larsson had 17 points in the Heat’s last game.

“I expect to get something done,” said Herro when asked about a potential extension ahead of the 2025-26 season. Herro has two years left on his current contract, but he’ll be eligible to sign a maximum extension of up to three years, $150 million during the window that runs from October 1 through October 20. Fresh off his first All-Star appearance, Herro will look to build on last season’s success when he returns from an ankle injury, most likely in November.

Herro underwent surgery earlier this month to address the ankle injury, but he said he is ahead of schedule. The initial expectation was that Herro would miss eight weeks, so that doesn’t really add up as being “ahead of schedule,” but he will at least miss the first few weeks of the season and could be sidelined until mid-December. Davion Mitchell will likely replace him in the starting unit, with the recently-acquired Norman Powell taking on more responsibility on offense. Rookie Kasparas Jakucionis could also take on a large role earlier than expected.

Herro, who injured his left ankle earlier this summer, underwent surgery on Friday after PRP treatments and cortisone shots failed to address the case of posterior impingement syndrome adequately. With the timeline provided by the Heat, there’s a chance Herro will be back on the court before Thanksgiving. For those preparing for fantasy drafts, Herro’s absence negatively impacts his value. However, it also raises the ceiling of Norman Powell, who’s beginning his first season with the Heat after being acquired from the Clippers in July.

According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Herro hoped to avoid surgery, as the injury had been an issue since mid-summer. Among the treatments the Heat guard underwent before the decision was made to operate on his left foot and ankle were PRP and cortisone injections. Losing Herro leaves a significant void in the Heat offense, as he’s coming off the best season of his NBA career. Earning his first All-Star Game appearance, Herro averaged 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 3.3 three-pointers in 77 regular-season appearances. A timeline for his recovery will likely be provided after Friday’s surgical procedure. No Herro in the lineup places even more responsibility upon the shoulders of offseason acquisition Norman Powell, not to mention holdovers Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins. Also, there should be room for bit contributors such as Davion Mitchell to step up as well.

Though this was an excellent season for Herro, it ended on the lowest note possible. After struggling in Game 3, Herro was even worse in Miami’s final game of the year as they were swept in a 55-point loss. The Heat hosted two playoff games and lost by a total of 82 points during them. Herro set career highs for points and assists this season and should be drafted much earlier ahead of the 2025-26 season. However, things got really ugly in this one.

While Cavaliers guard Darius Garland criticized Herro for his defensive shortcomings after Game 2, the Heat guard proved to be a reliable offensive option in the first two games of the series. Unfortunately, Herro was unable to get going offensively on Saturday. Cleveland made his touches much more challenging to come by, and Herro was a shell of himself as a scorer. He’ll try to bounce back in Game 4 on Monday, with the Heat aiming to avoid being swept.

Herro had yet another strong scoring performance on Wednesday, reaching at least 20 points for the 14th consecutive game, and 30 points for the fifth time in April. The All-Star led all scorers in this game and also tallied the third-most assists for the Heat. Miami will hope Herro stays hot as the team heads back to Miami in search of a Game 3 victory on Saturday.

Herro shot the ball well from beyond the arc on Sunday, making three of his six attempts. However, he was 4-of-12 from two, a far cry from the 56.5 percent clip he shot during the regular season. Cleveland’s defense, especially bigs Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen in the two-man game, had a lot to do with Herro’s two-point struggles in Game 1. Also, he finished with more turnovers (three) than assists. If Miami is to have any chance of pushing this series to its limit, much less win it, they’re going to need Herro to put up gaudy stat lines and be efficient in doing so. Game 2 is on Wednesday night.

Herro dazzled in Friday’s play-in tournament win over the Hawks, with timely baskets late in the fourth quarter and overtime to help Miami secure the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The sixth-year guard’s performance was his 12th consecutive having scored at least 20 points, with the Heat winning 10 of those games. Herro will look to stay hot on Sunday as the Heat take on the Cavaliers in Game 1 of their opening-round series.

Herro was scalding hot to begin Wednesday’s game, as he shot 8-of-8 from the field and scored 23 points in the first half. The damage was done with the Heat holding a 71-47 lead at the intermission. The Bulls should be happy that Herro committed seven turnovers on the night; things could have been worse. With Wednesday’s result, Miami has beaten Chicago in the Play-In tournament three consecutive years. Next up for the Heat is a matchup with the Hawks on Friday in Atlanta, with the winner receiving the eighth seed in the East.

The Heat are locked into the 10-seed in the East, regardless of Sunday’s outcome. Herro and Adebayo will sit out the regular season finale to avoid a little wear-and-tear ahead of their play-in tournament matchup with Chicago. While Kel’el Ware is available, his playing time could be limited since there isn’t anything on the line. Keshad Johnson and Josh Christopher are two players who are likely to log extended minutes after not being in the rotation for most of the season.

Herro had 22 points on just 10 shots in 22 minutes against the Pelicans Friday. The 25-year-old point guard was +46 as the Heat won by 49 points. Herro was probable with a thigh injury, but would’ve played more minutes had the game been closer. The Heat take on the Wizards in the season finale Sunday, where a similar situation could arise as the game is only meaningful to the Heat.

Herro is back in the Heat lineup after missing Saturday’s loss to the Bucks. His return means Duncan Robinson will head to the bench, which limits the three-point shooter’s fantasy value. Burks has been a fixture in the starting lineup since March 25, and that’s unlikely to change on Monday.

Herro’s right thigh contusion will keep him out of Saturday’s contest, leaving a massive hole in the Heat’s starting lineup. He has not missed a game since March 5. Davion Mitchell and Terry Rozier will have more minutes available, with the former more likely to move into the starting lineup. Neither player will replicate Herro’s scoring prowess, but Mitchell can provide added value in the assist category.

Herro is dealing with a right thigh contusion and has a legitimate chance to miss Saturday’s game given his questionable listing. The 25-year-old point guard is coming off a 35-point performance on the second night of a back-to-back Thursday. Herro’s absence would be a major loss with Terry Rozier likely to fill in.

Herro exploded for 35 points against the vaunted Grizzlies defense as he dueled with Ja Morant. It wasn’t a duel he would ultimately win as the Heat winning streak came to an end after six games despite Herro outscoring Morant 35-30. The 25-year-old guard had one of his better offensive games on the second night of a back-to-back as he continues to have an excellent season, which has only gotten better since the Heat traded Jimmy Butler. Herro has provided third-round fantasy value and will be one of the bigger risers in drafts for next season.

Herro has scored at least 25 points in four straight games. The 25-year-old point guard also dished out nine assists, giving him at least seven assists in three of his last five games. Herro has been a steal in fantasy as he’s provided third-round value on the season after a preseason Yahoo! ADP of 81.

Though he surprisingly wasn’t able to knock down a three-pointer, Herro was still able to continue his hot streak in Monday’s big win. Following a 10-game losing streak, Miami has now won five games in a row, with Herro scoring at least 20 points in each of them and at least 25 points in four of the five. He only had 20 points on 10 shots in their blowout win over the Warriors last week. Their winning streak will be tested in Boston on Wednesday, which is the first night of a back-to-back.

Herro has scored 30 points or more in consecutive games for the first time since mid-January. The Heat guard has averaged 24.6 points per game on 58 percent shooting over the past two weeks, providing third-round value in eight-cat formats. Herro has been a third-round player in eight- and nine-cat formats for the season, exceeding his Yahoo! ADP (81) by a significant distance. The good news for Herro managers is that Miami plays four games during Week 22, starting with the Wizards on Monday.

Since having a poor night against Houston last week, Herro has been on fire. He ended up having his highest-scoring performance since he scored 40 points in February, but he was far more efficient on Thursday night. He missed just four shots and made at least 70 percent of his shot attempts for a second consecutive game. Herro has had the best season of his career, and this was just another monster performance for him. He’ll look to stay hot in Philadelphia to close out the week on Saturday.

Sandwiched around his poor nine-point effort in Friday’s loss to the Rockets are two 29-point nights for Herro. Over the past two weeks, the Heat guard has been a top 75 player in eight-cat formats. A decrease in scoring has been the issue, with Herro’s average over the past two weeks being nearly three points less than his mark for the season. He’ll look to build on Sunday’s performance when Jimmy Butler and the Warriors visit Miami on Tuesday.

Herro is a late addition to the Heat injury report for Sunday’s game, joining Bam Adebayo (knee) as questionable. He last missed a game on March 5, and Alec Burks replaced him in the starting lineup. While Burks may not be the most appealing streaming option, being allowed to start would give him a shot at achieving deep-league fantasy relevance.

Herro made at least 50 percent of his field goal attempts for the fourth time in his last six games. The 25-year-old point guard continues to struggle from behind the 3-point line as he made 3-of-9 attempts from behind the three-point line. Herro has shot 31 and 26 percent from behind the three-point line over the last two months after shooing 38 and 41 percent in the two months before that. Herro has still been a top-50 fantasy player over the last two weeks as Miami’s primary offensive option.

Herro cooled off considerably after shooting 8-of-12 from the field in the first half. While the 20 points were a solid effort after the Heat guard scored eight in Saturday’s loss to the Grizzlies, Herro has shot 1-of-7 from three over his past two games. The good news for fantasy managers is that he has been a top-50 player in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. The Heat play three more games during Week 20, starting with the Pistons on Wednesday.

Herro was coming off a game where he scored 31 points Wednesday against the Clippers as Bam Adebayo failed to reach 10 points. Adebayo had just nine points against the Celtics, but Herro took a backseat on offensive to Andrew Wiggins. The 25-year-old point guard is typically the focal point of the offense, though. Herro still had 19 points and was able to fill up the stat sheet in every category. He’s provided fourth-round fantasy value over the past two weeks.

Herro shouldered most of the offensive workload on Wednesday, as Bam Adebayo (6/7/7/5) didn’t crack double figures and only Andrew Wiggins surpassed the 20-point mark. Over the past two weeks, Herro has been a fourth-round player in eight- and nine-cat formats, one round worse than his season-long value in both. Given Miami’s lack of high-level scorers, Herro will continue to shoulder the responsibilities of being the team’s top offensive option.

Herro was dealing with an illness entering this game, but that didn’t keep him from extending his streak of 20-point games to three. Herro has enjoyed the best season of his career thus far, but he wasn’t able to do enough on Monday to end Miami’s losing streak, which now sits at four games. Things won’t get easier as the week progresses, with matchups against the Clippers, Celtics and Grizzlies coming up. Still, for fantasy managers, Herro should continue to fill up the stat sheet. He only hit one three-pointer in this game, but that won’t happen often.
